Chris's car has been coming together. We have the body back on the chassis with the motor and trans installed. A little bit of metal work was needed at this point. We had to cut out the trans tunnel and fab a new one since his original chassis had the trans mount 4.5" lower than our chassis.
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...cture18331.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...cture18409.jpg Cool shot of the underside of the car. http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...cture18469.jpg The first production set of stainless headers designed specifically for this chassis. http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...cture18411.jpg |
|
Here is a good side profile of the car to see how much of the frame rail hangs below the rocker. (The body was still slightly sitting on the trans so the front is up about 1/4" higher than it should be)
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...cture18423.jpg Here is a shot of another 66 that we are just starting on. This is on the stock frame with original 1966 bushings. The frame rail is right at 1.75" from the bottom of the rocker pinch weld. http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...cture17794.jpg And here is a pic of our low profile frame rail with a ruler clamped to the bottom of the frame rail. It is right at 1/2" below the rocker pinch weld! That is 3/4" higher than the stock frame rail. (stock height Energy Suspension body mounts are installed) http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...cture18471.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...cture18463.jpg |
That looks so awesome! Eye candy for sure...
Are you guys planning on coating the frame? Dumb Q, I know... |
That rear end set up is very nice. Question, looks like you went through alot to get the frame tucked up nice but the trans crossmember looks alot lower than the rest or is that just the camera perspective?
|
Amazing work as usual. Great job on the frame. Can hardly been seen.
Do you guys fab up those headers? |
Chris you are going to kick butt on the auto cross this year with that new chassis. I am always impressed with the Roadster shop workmanship and design. This is the first time I am replying to a thread and i have been a fan of lateral -G for awhile now. Big Gary and I see you and your wife often at either Good-Guys events, world of wheels or power tour. Awesome!! :hail:

No Power Tour for us this year. Too many pro-touring and GoodGuys events we're going to try to hit. Hope to at least do a few days next year if it starts in Detroit. Planning on having the blue Chevelle out in about a month, hopefully sooner ??? Two big thumbs up on your new Camaro. You know I've always been a sucker for green cars. Send me a PM with your email so we can meet up at a cruise night somewhere. Chris |
Any updated pictures?

Chris's car is really coming along. The frame came back from powder coating this morning and the suspension components are in the booth getting sprayed. We should be assembling the car next week and getting some of the other components updated.

It was wondering how those rear tires we so tucked up in there on the lift, then I noticed the solid bars where the shocks go. That must be your set ride height? AWESOME! |
