Rims are here!! WHOO HOO!!
Man, these things are gorgeous! 2 of them seem to be lighter than one of my TTII's i used to have... what a difference! YEESSH!!! Anywhoozle, they are at the tire shop getting new rubber. Here's a crappy cell phone pic of them next to the fender just for color comparison, I think these are going to be totally killer! http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5119/...2324e01f_z.jpg |
We gots some new shoes!
Tires got installed last night as well as a boat load of UPS stuff showed up. Rewiring the car and 3 sets of motor mounts showed up. Not sure which I'll use yet, but want to make sure I have the correct set so I don't end up empty handed at a time when I'm motivated to work! http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5265/...fd77401f8a.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6021/...6ba0c00656.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5074/...c2426da3a3.jpg |
Wheels look killer Maxie...

Max the wheels and tires look great. You'll have to post how you like the AAW update kit so I'll know what to expect when I do mine.

Brakes came yesterday.
Holy crap, these things are massive. It's starting to get exciting now!! 14" rotors with 6 piston calipers all around. Obligatory pop-can for reference. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6038/...34692cb2_z.jpg |

Have no clue why we just built a house here!! HA!! You can stop by any time, send me a PM and we can work out the details :) |
Well the AT-AT Walker from Empire Strikes Back just arrived.
Hopefully this will help when the LS3 I have lined up with spool up to 7,500rpm :) Bunch of other stuff arrived too, hooker headers, fuel pumps and a ton of -8 AN Fittings for the fuel lines. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6026/...c98e2b03_z.jpg |
Love the intake but from what I'm hearing good luck getting it to fit without a really tall hood in a camaro

Just got word from the folks at holley that it might be a tight fit, but it certainly isn't a "no-go" on this intake.
I guess we'll see how it goes when I finally get the engine and subframe all mocked up. |
With a cowl hood you should probably be fine, I'm running an LS with a truck intake (much taller than LS1 or LS6) and I have a stock hood on a 69 Firebird....but I only have about 3/8 of an inch clearance. If you want I can measure the height of my intake and you could compare it to your holley.
Build looks awesome so far. -John |

Max,
That Aluminum hood, is it stamped just like an OEM? I ask because some of the composite hoods offer more space on the underside and don't have all the truss work that incorporated the factory Cowl to Aircleaner seal etc... I think Scott runs one that is virtually open on the underside. That may save a bunch of space, and perhaps you could consult with AMD or whoever made the Aluminum hood to see if it can be relieved like that. I know the Aluminum hoods are a bit thicker material than the steel. Maybe it would lend itself well to customizing? |
Intake Height
I measured the stock truck intake on my car and it was right at 10 inches tall. You should be fine with a 3 inch cowl hood and maybe even a 2 inch cowl hood.....good luck:cheers:

Small update.
Aluminum 2" cowl showed up from AMD yesterday. Looks very nice and is very light! So far I'm impressed. Also, made the decision to run with one of these bad boys! Finally! That decision was really getting on my nerves. Talked with Horace and David from Mast and both were very helpful. They were able to work with me and my intake. They agreed to let me ship them my Holley intake and they would dyno it for me and crate the whole thing back up! What a deal! Horace seems to think that the LS3 intake will make more power than the Holley one, I'm not so sure but thankfully Horace agreed to test it for me, which is super cool. Shooting for 600+ hp. If I (Mast) gets close with 590 or so... I'll be a happy camper!! http://www.mastmotorsports.com/2010/photos/117-220.jpg http://www.mastmotorsports.com/2010/...op%20In&id=110 |
That is great motor Max! My buddy bought one for his 67 and it looks great. Still being rigged in for him, but we both think Mast rates the power output conservatively....

I believe I've answered the question: What would happen if I called SpeedTech and only said, "Send me one of everything" LOL
I'm really glad Roger convinced me to have it powdercoated. That was the best investment I think I could have made. Just simply gorgeous color and ultra smooth to the touch, not like anyone is going to touch it, but I know its there and I'm super impressed. I was expecting something much heavier and bulkier, but this is light enough for my brother and I to pick up easily fully built. It came packed super tight and nothing was stacked on top, which was good. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6149/...79eda874_z.jpg This how much packing they throw on it LOL! http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6122/...3892941e_z.jpg Torque arm with coil overs :) http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6144/...a2bdfe5d_z.jpg With rims ... not ready for brakes yet. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6006/...17791a53_b.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6149/...45261742_z.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6144/...ff3000e2_z.jpg Solid frame bushings and ATS motor mounts. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6024/...0fe5094f_z.jpg |
