I have one question: is this a time lapsed thread? cause you guys are doing a heckuva lot of work in a short period of time!
Amazing work. |
wow!!!
that takes amazing vision to come up with that and pull it off so well, the door has a malibu/velle shape to it. makes the car look longer. |
That is bitching. I can't believe what a difference altering a body line makes on the car. Please keep the pics coming!
|
That was a good call. Looks great!
|
Wow, that is looking killer. Love the clean look on the car now.
|
Truly inspirational craftsmanship:D
|
body lines looks very similar to a 69 camaro
and thats some fast work at least on posts lol that would take me light years haha |
Great work. this defiantly shows there is a real difference between garage build (me) and shop build.
|
Wow! Some really bold, and trick ideas for body-lines. Kind of like a mix between 1. and 2. gen Nova's.
|
Thanks everyone.
The photos are not corresponding with the actual build time. We are quite a bit further along on the car and I wanted to wait until this point before I started posting pics of the build. |
I had gotten ahead of myself yesterday and left out several pics of earlier portions of the build.
Here are a few shots of the 454 LSX engine and firewall sheet metal work that has been done. http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s.../firewall1.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s.../firewall2.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s.../firewall3.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s.../firewall4.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s.../firewall5.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s.../firewall6.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s.../firewall7.jpg |
Another item on the cut list was the roof line of the car. Stock 66/67 Nova's tend to look like the roof is running uphill from back to front. A subtle 3/4" chop in the front along with leaning the A pillars, and pie cutting the sail panels took care of that and gave it a subtle change.
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ator/chop4.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ator/chop3.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ator/chop5.jpg Sitting next to a stock Nova you can make out the difference in the roof line. I have better pictures some where that I will dig up showing this better. http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ator/Chop6.jpg The drip rails were also eliminated and added in a body line in their place so it wasn't a totally smoothed look. http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ator/drip1.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ator/chop2.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ator/Chop1.jpg |
:hail: That thing is gonna be bada$$, you guys have a great eye for details and amazing talent.

Here is the fab work on the rocker moldings and lower door accent moldings.
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...novator/95.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...novator/97.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...novator/96.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...novator/98.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...novator/99.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ovator/100.jpg |
Once the rocker was in place we went back and re-shapped the rear portion to accommodate the side exhaust.
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...r/exhaust1.jpg We fabbed a double walled stainless sheet metal exhaust tip to flow with the cars lines. http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...r/exhaust2.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...r/exhaust3.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...r/exhaust4.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...r/exhaust5.jpg |
Here is the aluminum trim piece we made for the bottom of the door. There is a reveal line tipped into the piece for added dimension.
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ovator/102.jpg Innovator name plate was CNC'd and then welded into the front of the lower door molding. http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ator/104-1.jpg Door molding completed (Prior to Innovator logo install) http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ovator/101.jpg |
Man, that is looking so sweet! I'm so in awe of the talent you guys have for creating art out of metal....
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...r/exhaust4.jpg |
Marty you did hear, Phil works from home now!!!!!! Notice how all this new stuff is on the forums now!!!! He does it between diaper changes. Your going to have to talk to Jer about tours now.
|
I am really diggin' the new bodylines running off the wheel arches. Nice work.
|
that's the body lines the 2nd gen nova should have had. You should try and figure out how you could sell them as parts.

Amazing work guys, Matt |
Thanks Matt. Glad you enjoyed the shop tour. I would have said hi if I knew it was you. Chris and I thought it might have been you, but being from Cali, we assumed it wasn't you. Sorry about that. Bryan said he spent a lot of time and gave you the grand tour though.

Fab work on the front bumper and lower splitter.
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...novator/80.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...novator/84.jpg Fabbed new bumper ends to follow the shape of the headlights, and tuck tight to the fenders. http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...novator/85.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...novator/88.jpg Underside of the front splitter http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...novator/87.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...novator/86.jpg |
Further progress on the lower splitter.
Fabbed the corner pieces to match the shape of the bumper. http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...novator/90.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...novator/91.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...novator/92.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...novator/93.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...novator/94.jpg |
