After almost a year in the making, finally have completed my interior and converted it to black in color. It took awhile to get the door panels, but well worth the wait. I added sound deadening throughout the car to include the doors and installed new ACC carpet as well. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...37a21ef70f.jpg

Finished interior with the exception of the seat belts. I also replaced both exterior door handles. New black in color seatbelts are being ordered. I plan on adding harness type belts as well. I removed the rear seats (delete) with plans on adding a harness bar from Hawks Motorsports. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...5d9478ae3c.jpg

Definitely the benefits of buying the Camaro in the south years ago and keeping it garage kept. |
New wheels and tires for the Camaro. I went with these R15s from Hawks Motorsports. Wheels are 18 x10s and I went with Nitto tires (275s at all corners now).

Wheels and tires mounted. Also replaced the center console lid. Next on the list are new seatbelts.

Really like your choice of wheels Corey it looks great

x2 very good choice for wheels. They really fill up the wells.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the compliments. I was kind of struggling on wheel choices, but I have always liked the clean look of Ronals when they came on the Pontiac Firehawk back in the 90's. I wanted to go with an 18" rim though and when I found Hawk's had the R15s in a 18x10 size, and made especially for the Third Gen platform with correct backspacing, I had to go with them. |
I’ve been wanting to upgrade my headlights, but still wanted to retain the factory appearance. After some research, I decided on Vision X. These are the same headlights Detroit Speed used on their 3rd Gen Camaro aka DSE-Z. I reached out to them awhile back to find out which headlights they used on their build.

It's those little things like changing the seat belts out that really help give the interior a clean look. Plus, the added safety of it all of course. Good work on the headlights, too!

Koni shocks/struts are installed.
Now if the rain would clear out so I can take the Camaro out for a drive. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3713596864.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f520e1af1f.jpg Definitely going to be upgrading to some braided stainless steel brake lines soon. Had to remove the intermediate shaft to replace the steering coupler. I refinished and painted the shaft, turned out really good. Camaro drives so much better with the new steering coupler. Also installed a new power steering pump. The difference the new coupler made was incredible and had me asking myself why I hadn’t replaced it years ago.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...64800b98df.jpg Old and extremely worn out coupler. Not sure why I hadn’t replaced this much earlier. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d64e8160cc.jpg Old power steering pump. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6b407acc1f.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f57c26197f.jpg Repainted steering shaft with new steering coupler. I replaced the one on my 96 Formula with a solid puck. Steering was more responsive and the vibrations through the steering wheel were minimal.
New shaft looks great. Glad to hear it made a difference for driving enjoyment. |
Every time I look at this car, it really makes me want to find one

Did some work on the engine and engine bay. While it’s not an LS motor and I still have the original throttle body injection 305, it’s a solid engine and with everything else I’ve done, it’s a solid cruiser for me to put a grin on my face every time I go for a drive. I just installed an Edelbrock intake to finally compliment the other bolt-ons I’ve done to the engine. I also added an injector pod spacer and did some TBI mods for better airflow. Someday there will eventually be an engine transplant, but in the meantime I work with what I have and have fun tweaking an engine most want nothing to do with. There is some challenge in knowing it’s an oddball and not the norm. [emoji41]

Nice work. If the 305 in my C10 wasn't wounded, I would be keeping it. It moves the truck and sounds good. Don't need much more than that to enjoy the drive.

Now that the suspension, interior, wheels, transmission (rebuilt with hardened internals to withstand up to 500 hp), etc., are where I want them to be at this point, I am now focused on the engine aspect of things. I have thought about a cam swap also, but then you get into the reality of how much do I try to do with the 305 versus just waiting and doing a complete engine swap in the next few years. (I have a son about to start college next year and a daughter in competitive dance...:G-Dub:). :D |
