When do I get my Weld Racing Crew member shirt!

1 question can you run historic events with this car or do they only allow the real cars with proven history?

GregWeld 10-07-2011 06:33 AM

It became historical the minute I bought it!

Weld Racing Redeux!

clill 10-07-2011 06:35 AM

No...Most historic events only allow cars with race history. The Shelby Club tends to let cars like this in at their big events and I wish they wouldn't. My Shelby still has drum rear brakes and Ford front disc etc. It can't keep up with the modern cars.

Didn't you mean Hysterical? :willy:

mdprovee 10-07-2011 10:49 AM

Great buy Greg, Both Laura and I want a ride in it.

Matt@BOS 10-07-2011 02:13 PM

Greg, you should come out to Bondurant again. I'm headed back at some point (I put a deposit down) and I was just thinking, what I wouldn't give to ride around in the drift car with you at the wheel  . Then again, if you didn't go, I'd feel better knowing someone would be killing more cones on the autocross than me.

Matt

I'd go again in a heartbeat!! I learned SOOOOOO much! It's truly amazing what you THINK you know - then they start on you - and you realize you had no clue.... This is the best money anyone in the hobby can spend. Forget more go fast parts until you've done one of their driving schools... it's truly an OMG experience. So much fun and you learn so much at the same time.

I stayed at that 'casino' thing right there - Wild Horses or something like that. It's real close - cause when you're old like me - I was whooped at the end of the day. And DO NOT MISS a chance to do the SHIFTER CART CLASS... That is a whole 'nother kick!

I took a third on the house -- and cashed in my 401K and my IRA and SEP... that all got me enough down payment that I could borrow the rest from my brother in law, and two other buddies. Hakuna matata is my motto! :woot:

Personally I like the aerodynamic and light weight of the model (Porch chair?) shown in the car.... That way I could say I took the seats out of my "Porch"....

coolwelder62 10-08-2011 08:51 PM

Charley, your gonna have to switch the steering wheel with one that has the flat spot on the bottom, and get the seat just a tad bit closer. The seat might be to tall for him also, his legs might dangle.

DemonSRT8 10-09-2011 07:29 PM

Actually super funny.

Greg managed to survive his first track weekend in his new Mustang. I conned my friend Pete to being instructor since his car was broken...Sure enough they get black flagged first session because the instructor is riding around all session with his arm out the window and his hand on the roof.

He was so scared with Greg at the wheel, he was waiting for the best opportunity to jump out.

GregWeld 10-17-2011 12:55 PM

I suck but I sure had a good time!! Thank god Charley has some good friends. LOL

I was looking for some "improvement" and I found some. Not enough... But some! I did discover there's fresh dirt at Stielow Corner on Sunday!

Rybar 10-17-2011 01:14 PM

If Lateral-G gets a one car vote in this year again at the Optima event, GW and his new stang gets my vote!!

Thanks for the kind words but OPTIMA Battery calls their event OUSCI....
"Optima Ulitmate STREET CAR Invitational".

Happily, this Mustang is as far from a street car as one could get.... no interior - no headlights - it drives like a truck until you get to about 50 MPH... runs 110 gas only.... no wipers - plexiglass windshield and rear window... no windows or guts in the doors... :willy:  :woot: :woot: It's just the way I like it!

No auto x'n in this car -- it's a road racer and I'm not changing it to do anything else! Well -- maybe I need one of those "stick you bitch" bumper stickers! Do they help??? :D
