Scott, your subframe would be no doubt my only choice for a subframe. I love your work and grass roots style!!

Looks great brother! Like the all black. Glad you made that change.

Track Junky 12-21-2011 09:59 PM

Thanks Dave! Yeah, really thought the polished lip look made it look a little to street car. I'm really happy with the way they turned out.

Spiffav8 12-21-2011 10:41 PM

Dude that's fracking awesome!

Track Junky 12-21-2011 11:09 PM

Thank You Curtis!! After looking at your rendering I take that compliment in high regard!!

Nessumsar 12-22-2011 09:56 AM

She is looking sweet Gae! I'll be watching your front sub modify closely, been planning something similar for about a year.

SBDave 12-22-2011 10:35 AM

I really like the all satin black look. My car is still on stock wheels but I've painted them satin black. Whats your plan for tying that in to the paint scheme? Are those wheels the GA3's/GA3R's? What size wheel and tire combo?

Dave

Thanks Jon!! I think recessing the sub is a great idea. Not only will we be able to keep travel, we will also lower center of gravity. Dropping everything will be easy. Steering coloumn will have to be raised a bit at firewall and z-bar lowered and modified but its definitely doable. The interior sheet metal work will be the brunt of the work.

Thanks Dave!! Valance, grill, front bumper, header panel, hood, cowl panel will be satin black. Black stripes on the deck lid with satin black rear spoiler. Seen this look on a vintage '69 SCCA car and loved it.

Wheels are GA3R's. 17 x 9.5 front with 275/40's shaved RA-1's, rears are 17 x 10.5 with 315/35 NT-01's.

That was my preference, go for what you like and what suits your needs. When you have an all black wheel I feel the tire and wheel lose the definition, thats why on an all black I like it when a pinstripe is used. White red, maybe orange in your case would look cool. Would be cheap and easy to try out?

Don't forget the core support Gae. 'The floor channeling guys' seem to mod that every time...:captain:

Yup, raise the supports at the radiator core, drop the side frame mounts, and modify the rear mounts. Cut and rebox a portion of the body where frame meets firewall, inner wheel wells will need to be cut where they sit above the frame. Front bumper brackets removed and modified.

Lowered the front of the car last night buy cutting 2" off the tops of the Afco spring height adjusters and they are at their lowest setting right now. I have the ability to raise the front a max of 2" if I need to.

Here's a few pic's.....

Dude..

Great call on 17s.

Great call on switching last minute to all satin black.

And great job getting that stance where it's at.

Totally transformed the car.

Sieg 01-01-2012 07:12 AM

Good work!

Have you considered blacking out all of the exterior chrome?

Thanks Bro!! I was at Steve's Camaro's in San Bruno and he had a old pic of a Vintage SCCA '69 Camaro with black wheels and the paint scheme on it was pretty mean looking. Up front the valance, fender extensions, bumper, header panel, hood, and cowl were black. The rear deck lid and spoiler had the stripes. It was pretty mean looking and I really liked it since I kind of want to get this thing a little sinister looking.

I have a brother in law that has a sign shop and says as long as I pick up the vinyl sticker material that we could do it in sticker form for a trial run to see how it looks so I will probably be playing around with a few different things when I have time to hook up with him.

Thank you Ron!! It's great to hear from you. I love what Chris is doing with your car. So many special proto-type parts being made for it from a special builder and I think you truly deserve that kind of treatment.

As far as the avatar goes, were going to have to wait for a killer action pic!! ;)

Sieg 01-01-2012 08:54 AM

A deviation of this scheme may have track potential.

The black graphics are cool, but your current setup just screams ” classy race car” to me.
