Hey Cris any update on this camaro, I am realy interested in watching this build:D
|
We have all the car disassembled! The shell & all removable sheet metal was picked up Friday for media blasting.. I sold the 572 already! The rest of the parts will be listed here pretty soon..
http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_1749.jpg We fabricated this firewall here for another Camaro here @ the shop.. We are pulling templates & fabricating this firewall this coming week.. A few changes but this will be the concept.. http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_1071.jpg Quote:

The firewall looks nice Cris👍👍
|
Update on rendering! here are the owner color choices with Forgeline wheels that he picked.. I really am digging the colors with wheels.. Thanks Carter for the update!

I like the way it is on the rendering.. I would powder coat it black.. but the owner has the final say so on that one!

Some killer looking builds coming out of your shop Cris.
Keep up the great work! |
Last week we finished fabricating the firewall plate.. We made three for a few cars we got going on here @ the shop but also made one that is going out to get tooled for stamping this firewall.. I will have these available in a few months to sell.. We are also working on fabricating a transmission tunnel for T56 transmission for this build that also will be going out to get tooled.. I have teamed up with one of the companies that re-produce sheetmetal & want to work with JCG on the pcs that are needed for LS conversions..
In the mean time Mario/Doom wants one for his 69.. So we are building one for him right now.. Best investment on a tool that I could have made was my Harbor Freight bead rollor:unibrow: http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_1799.jpg |
That's vey Nice Chris, going to toss out my other filler plate and wait for these

Frank- I was J/K that we made this pcs with a Harbor Freight bead roller.. I have one that were using early last year for small pcs.. now we have one that I bought from Pro Tools.. I think..
The Harbor Freight one had to be strengthened up because it would flex all over the place.. I no longer have it.. I gave it to a friend of mine.. Quote:

Nice !!!!
Can't wait to see some update pics !

Here are a few updates.. We have been working on making room for the
345-30-20... We built new frame rails out of .120 thk material so that we have good mounting & welding point for the pannard bar & just making a few things more strong for the Mast Motor.. Cut out the package tray & welded a tube in place that ties into the pillars... First time we make our own tubs.. Got more coming in the next couple of weeks ..Talked to Mast today.. Looking like I will have a motor mid Feb... http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_1967.jpg http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_1968.jpg |
Looks sweet Cris. Are you extending the rear of the tubs down to the rockers? Appears so. I like it.
|
Chris you know I'm a fan ....... Awesome work!

Adam- The new tubs are made to weld to stock points.. They extend to the rocker panels & we are doing them in two pcs... the outer tub will be done when we get the face of the qtr panel back on..

The nice thing about when you open a car this far up.. It makes it easier to fabricate & weld.. The tubs are done & ready to be welded in place but we need to finish up the trunk first...
WE were gonna fab a cool new trunk pan but drew the line sonewhere.. Using the stock one with new trunk fillers.. Thought we would try something new with our Optima billet battery tray.. I think it looks ok.. :D Tomorrow we weld it up all together.. next week we start the four point cage.. http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_1989.jpg http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_1986.jpg |
Awesome stuff guys!
|
as always- nice work Cris! Looking forward to seeing it on the ground:D
|
Chris- Awesome work as usual, is the optima battery tray(post #69) available for purchase?, I love the simplicity and non bling of it, would be perfect in black ano.

Thanks Chris! I too look forward to seeing it on the ground with a JCG Sub-Frame! Next week we start cutting & machining for the first prototype..

Cris are going to share your suspension geometry characteristics?
Did you lose any weight with your design? Nice detailed CAD work. |
Bryce- The suspension geometry characteristics will be kept under wraps for now.. When we build the first prototype.. I will need to take the sub-frame over to friend of mine that will proof the suspension geometry before we move on to build final chassis.. Then the prototype will be put underneath my 68 Camaro to test & proof fit & function.. I will daily drive the car to ensure that we have meet our goals on design & function..
Two reason that drove me to build our own suspension.. 1st: build the car off the wheels.. 2nd :build the car to desired ride height without losing suspension travel.. Another thing that have become a big thing around the shop is weight.. The design on the sub with suspension has been designed to keep weight down.. I am a big fan of inter locking pcs. together & plug welding with stitch welding.. Our chassis is not designed to look pretty & smooth.. but the number one priority is strength .. Cost is another factor on the sub.. Look @ the upper control arm.. It is a mirrored from left to right.. so we build one arm that is used left & right.. The lower control arm is mirrored on components.. The control arms are using 4130 chromemoly tubes with 4140 upper bushing shafts.. We will be using all ARP fasteners.. We have tested the tensile strength on their fasteners.. & it is what they claim! We FEA tested the control arms with a 8000 pound load on them.. Plenty of strength! The design on the spring buckets is just like GM would do on their trucks but with a coil over.. Shock angles is another key factor.. & the list keeps going on.. We have put a lot of thought into the design.. Please note that I am not doing this to produce & sell to the public.. Just to support the builds we have in house.. The suspension & chassis market is statured with vendors that produce excellent products.. Quote:
|
Chris, you can put the protoype under my 68, just give me a holler!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kevin:D :D |
Here is a sneak peak of the the upper control arm.. Tonite we were playing around with animations for what we got planned for our website...
|
Is that a C6 spindle?
|
You never sieze to amaze..........

Really looks nice Chris
I look forward to seeing this one completed.
Always excited to see another frame and based on what I have seen come out of your shop, it should be fantastic. I figured you would have milled it out of billet. LOL I see where you were speaking of ride height. When 21st Century was still in business I got one of their frames. It was one of their 1 inch drop versions, basically they took an inch out of legs that mount to the body/floor. That inch coupled with the half heigh subframe bushings and my car is pretty low. Part that I was not thinking about at the time is how far it raised the motor in the car. I guess this is fresh on my mind because I recently went with a set of Katech valvel covers and could mounts. With the spacers I had to use with my truck coils, the coils touch the SS hood when closed at the front. I had to get LS7 coils so I would not have to run the 3/8 spacers to get clearance. I know business always comes first, but I hope you get a car on the road soon for yourself. Personal projects always get "back burnered." Maybe this new frame will get you driving. |
I finally got around to running our new CNC plasma cutter for a job here @ the shop.. My Uncle has been brushing up on his AutoCad skills..
It took us longer to measure & design on AutoCad than to burn it out.. Here is a update on some of the rear inner structure work.. The package tray is almost done.. Post pics of that later.. http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_2038.jpg http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_2039.jpg http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_2037.jpg http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_2040.jpg |
