Chad-1stGen 11-27-2011 10:31 AM

Gaetano,

Saw the thread over on PT first. Missed this one until now since this site isn't compatible with my iPhone.

I'm down for this event and will commit with a deposit/prepayment whenever I need to.

For anyone on the fence who hasn't run with NCRC before, these guys are a first rate track day organization. I enjoy running with just about anyone who will let me on the track with my car but NCRC has the most polished/professional vibe of the organizers I've run with before. A perfect setting to get your feet wet with "track days" if you have been wondering.

I've posted this a few times before but here is a lap done with NCRC earlier this year at Buttonwillow #13CW.

C'mon peeps lets rock this thing!

Vegas69 11-27-2011 10:32 AM

Not sounding to promising. The skill sets are all over the board in PT. It's going to be hard to get 40 cars for a road race only event. The RTTC type events cater to everybody. They also feature easy locations.

I agree, skill level is across the board. The cool thing is that Dave is willing to work with us. Down the road(say a few years)as we gain experiece I can see things changing.

All we could do at this point is play this out by ear.

Vegas69 11-27-2011 10:51 AM

Maybe we could start with having X amount of spots available for the event.

I like that idea. I think we have plenty of us that can qualify for the point by group.

My question is, do we want to step up into Chrono series or should we just do point by?

It's not like we need to make any decisions right away. Hell, I had a great time last time we were there and we had guy's signed up in all groups across the board.

Chad-1stGen 11-27-2011 12:30 PM

I assumed the 40 car thing was off the table from the start. RTTC barely got 55 cars the first year with a heck of a lot more promotion and ties to the industry.

I'm happy if we can get a decent turn out and don't think we all need to try and run in the same run group. Just to big of a disparity in skill level. There will no doubt be fellow PT cars in just about any of the run groups and its fun watching the action of the other PT cars in between your own run sessions.

I agree. At this point and time the skill level is across the board. Definitely too soon for an exclusive pt group and time slot.

I e-mailed Dave and told him we are going to play this by ear and let the chips fall where they may.

Either way it's a good time.

Nice of Dave to show interest and offer to lend a hand though. I can see things turning around a bit in the next few years.

Flash68 11-27-2011 10:06 PM

Agree with pretty much all that's been said on this last page... 40 cars ain't happenin, let alone 20....

And the 2 times I've run with Chad and some a few other PT guys down at Willow Springs, we were often in different run groups and still had a great time.

Based on where we are now, what are we trying to accomplish that is above and beyond (i.e. a better experience) than what happened at Buttonwillow in Sept?

Gea,

Just want to make sure that the "John R" and "Matt" are actually Jon R. and Matt B.

I'm really looking forward to getting on track with you guys this time around, might even get to test out my point-by finger...

Thanks, Jon. Yup, its you guy's. I'll fix it.

This is always my favorite event. Looking forward to seeing you guy's there.

wow. Gaetano I had no idea we could sign up already. Anyone else sign up yet? I'll commit to one day now, just not sure about commiting to both this far out. Curious if others on your list of commits are down for both days or are picking one?

Yes, registration is already open. I dont know if anyone has signed up yet but the list is from the guy's that have said they would be there.

I'll be signing up for Saturday by the end of the week.

The Thunderhill events have not been posted yet. Dave said that he gave them the dates and is waiting on Thunderhill's approval.

Flash68 12-01-2011 10:59 PM

I have not signed up yet. The only events that seem to sell out quickly and well in advance are Laguna Seca days.

That said, I will probably also sign up for Saturday sooner rather than later and then play Sunday by ear. September seems so darn far away!

Point-by at the most. I don't like to be on a track with peeps that I don't know and have no idea of their willingness to trade paint in a no-point-by scenario. Safety is better than over-chancing.

Probably a good idea for all.

Looks like Sept shouldn't be selling out too soon. :D

Track Junky 12-02-2011 06:50 PM

Looks like they are only having two Buttonwillow weekends this year. March one may get rained out. I'm pretty sure come July/August the Sept Buttonwillow event will be sold out.
Just sayin'.........

clill 12-02-2011 08:43 PM

Used to be when you went to ncrc site the opening pic would show a bunch of cars on the track including the Thrasher that Stielow built. I'm member # 4 with ncrc. Feeling old.

Your a fortunate guy to be able to stay in the game for so long.

Hope to see you out at Thunderhill this season. And see if you can drag Greg Weld out with us.

Track Junky 01-22-2012 09:23 PM

I contacted Liz Miles a long ways back and asked her if she would cover the September 15th NCRC Buttonwillow event since we had such a great turnout last year.
I finally got an e-mail back from her tonight and she said she would mention it to one of her editors.
There may be a possibility we get a little ink in one of the mags she writes and photos for.

Do I need a cage to run at these events?

Forgive me for asking since I am sure it's posted here, but what dates is everyone attending and who is signed up already?

I'm in if all the boys are going---just want to make sure I have my car ready for it---

Sept 15-16...

This thread isn't the easiest to find the info... maybe it could be cleaned up...

G -- maybe ask to change the title of the thread? and you could add the RSVP list to the first post and update it there accordingly.

Good suggestion Dave!

Okay -- next up is hotel -- where are we making camp??

Track Junky 03-18-2012 01:06 PM

All the motels are on Tracy Ave. As far as accomodations go the NCRC host motel is the Motel 6 at the end of Tracy. Cheap but not the cleanest. There is a Motel 6 in the middle of Tracy Ave also that we call Motel 6 Central. Alot cleaner then the Motel 6 on the end. And then IIRC a Super 8 that is probably the cleanest.
What I normally do is stay at the central Motel 6 and ask them for the Speed Ventures discount. That will save you a few bones.
I think it will probably boil down to what you want to spend on accomodations because we will most likely hang out, BBQ, and socialize at the track till bed time.

I'm on the fence....

Haha no seriously that is how freekin gun shy I am from this latest upgrade experience. It's been 8 months since I started this "easy project" so I'm sure it can find a way to screw me out of this event again this year.

Well I'm much more confident in my ability to make it with backing from Fab53! :)

BTW Brett, I'm scheduled to take a trailer and pick up the car on Thursday. So far I'm coming up empty handed on getting someone who doesn't work M-F to help me unload it at the house in HB... you know, if you are around :p
