This is the car at ride height. It's on jackstrands, but you can see that it is going to be really low. Just a 15" wheel but it is a 25" diameter tire and that's what I will be using.

Got the final adjustments finished on the pedals. Also made a few subtle changes to the dash around the dvd/navigation. Everything fits better now.

Mounted the Vintage Air unit. The unit is mounted 1.5" higher than if it was bolted in directly from Vintage Air. Did this so less is showing from under the dash.

bonecrrusher 09-27-2012 11:10 AM

What are you going to use to knock that rust off the raw sheet metal?

coolwelder62 09-27-2012 05:38 PM

I would use Navel Jelly.

krptonite 10-12-2012 05:07 PM

there is a spray that is designed just for this situation, it lasts up to 2 yrs, troy trepanier sells it but can be got from most speedshops, its called drycoat.

I know it looks bad, but that rust is barely there. Scotch brute pads knock it right off. I could use some suggestions though bc I'm about to start soon.

NovaBlue71 10-13-2012 02:06 PM

What are your plans for the outside of car? I would maybe think about just media blasting the car inside and out then spray car with some SPI epoxy primer. Joe

As for the outside: strip the paint, prime, and paint. Media blasting is definitely an option. I have read all about it, but I have no experience with it. What type of media is best for paint and surface rust?

jh99 12-01-2012 08:26 PM

A couple of more updates.

A view from the top. Steering column firewall mount.

I will have more in the next week or so

coolwelder62 12-01-2012 08:38 PM

Lookin good. Man it must be humid there.

DEIGuy38 12-01-2012 09:27 PM

I us something called Damprid from walmart in the garage to absorb moisture. It comes in what looks like a gallon ice cream pail. Just remove the lid and place around the car. My car has been in bare metal for about 2 yrs and looks good.

radrambler 12-02-2012 08:35 AM

idea

I see your surface rust issue
When you get it removed.. im with Joe . media blasting would be great. then use Gibbs on the metal to keep it from happening if you cant paint it or dont want to right away.. Holohans hot rod shop ,Rad Rides and other pro builders use it AND SELL IT. If you contact Dan Holohan who is on this site he will sell it to you and explain it to you.. Dan is a great source of info.

Thanks everyone.

We have a lot of moisture down here. My plan is to media blast the car and prime everything when I'm finished with the metal work. Inside and out

Is anyone familiar with powder coating the entire shell? I have read a liitle about it.

Our powder coater has an epoxy primer we used on surfaces painted later. Worked without problems.

Just now getting around to getting a couple of pics. This box came to the shop 2 days ago!

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...sb45abdd7.jpeg

LS3 from Turn Key Engine. Everything looks great. I am changing the pulley set to bring everything to the middle for a cleaner look. Any suggestions on Vintage Air Frontrunner, March, or Billet Specialties?

NovaBlue71 01-31-2013 03:38 PM

Cowl looks better when filled doesn't it. It's some work but well worth the effort. Man you have to be stoked about what showed in the box. My son Paul put a vintage air frt. drive on his ls engine in his chevy II and I think it's packaged really nice. Not cheap but what is if it's a quality part. Joe

Not many updates, but a little work done

Battery cover built and installed

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps6adff349.jpg

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...pse0ed44dc.jpg

I rolled the windows up and down a few times today. I know they have not been used much yet, but these Nu-Relic power windows are really smooth and work flawlessly. I recommend them to anyone looking for a power window upgrade.

jh99 02-25-2013 07:07 PM

nice job on the Nova looks great this is my favorite body style looks like your making great progress. also looks like you need to use some of troy trepainers secret metal sauce it is a paint safe oil to keep the bare metal from rusting! you can get it on his web site it works awesome saves alot of rework because sanding sucks! keep up the great work!

Thank you! I learned the hard way about surface rust! Everything that is welded in or to the car is not left uncoated anymore.

3Deuce 04-03-2013 10:14 AM

How much room did you give yourself for your exhaust? I've been thinking about doing something close to that on my falcon. I'm just concerned about the 3" exhaust getting too close to the tires. I don't need it causing issues on the big end of the strip!
