So it is morning, so where is the Sun ????

I have my shoes on , and I am out the door.

I will report back..

I am feeling a timing adjustment coming this morning during testing, but i will let you know...

Shakedown 101 ......here we come...

Ah, to my Neighbors who are sleeping...

Not for long...:lateral:  :woot:

Finally the Test Run

Well here is the Mini book...:D

So I leave today before dawn, to a set of Cloverleafs that I hand picked.

The car rides smooth in the smooth areas on the road, and a little rough where the road is bad..

Where are more Gears ??? Oh, I don't have them.. 4000 RPM , all the way to the Leafs....

Oh boy, i go over, and over, and over, and over... Drifting it out , on the one turn that has no4 foot concrete barriers, and at the edge and throttle controlled on the other turns..:woot:

After a while, it is WOT between the turns, hard straight line braking at the outside of the apex, and then throttle on through the turn.. i got the KDW's to talk to me... :woot:

All you could smell is rubber...:woot:

I stop to adjust the timing... Sure Mike V , the layman, trying to adjust Steve's work at East Bay Muscle Car..:willy Well, I set it back to his setting...No harm, no foul, the ping told me I was wrong...

Then I go pick up a Muscle car buddy.. He is blown away at the car...just wait.

We go back to the leafs, and he is saying " no way, we can't go that fast "...

Yet i drive into the turns, as Hot as I can, straight line Braking at the outside edge, and dive into the turns, with the throttle on..Reminding you that although i have new steering, and suspension, and Brakes, i am still muscling the Vintage M-21 in and outta the turns..

I get to where we are WOT on the straights and on the edge into, through, and out of the turns...The one without the concrete got more throttle and oversteer...

Rubber smells everywhere... Fun Factor 10.....

OK ..then on the way home, a Dude in a New Charger, not an SRT, is beeping his horn at me mouthing , "do i want some ? ", and pointing with ,get this, black leather driving gloves....

He taunts me with his hand out the window..We are at 70MPH...I don't street race.

A lifetime of wealth, and the good life will not be blown on one illegal race.

But I found it funny, I just drove at the edge over, and over, and over, and over, and over, at the limit, Bare handed..haha.....Holding on to my Momo Race wheels, which by the way, is a perfect choice..

spent 40 dollars on gas, but since i own oil stocks, i paid for my carnival ride...

Post inspection, no leaks, no problems.. Steve Keefer, you are the " Man "

Great work..

The down side ? Interior rattles, bad pavement is not it's friend, and I broke the hand crank on the window when I got home...

So, Braking, steering and cornering went great, over, and over, and over... :hail:

Maybe there is more out of the Timing, but not by twisting the distributor..:willy:

And I need more gears...

But if you can muscle the Muncie, the car is at home in the turns and on the short straights WOT...

Next Sunday will be a standing start 3500 rpm Launch...The braking and Cornering tests are done for now..

I did get it to understeer/plow, and to oversteer... Just testing the limits..:lateral:

Man, was that fun.. I smell like gasoline and rubber...:lateral:

Sound like fun! So much for taking it easy for the first hundred miles or so! Sounds like we'll need to do the 200 mile Checkup a little sooner!

Sorry... I drove about 45 miles first..

So , I will put more miles on it, easy one's and wait 200 miles ??

Then maybe a launch off the line, and bring it back ?? Or no launch ??

I have looked underneath and all looks well. I may lift it, and really look everywhere..

Sorry about touching the distributor...I learned my Lesson.. I will keep my novice paws off of it ...:willy: :willy:

But Steve, you rock...

My friend will sign up and post his impressions soon.

I was too busy to really see it...But very, very nice...

Let me know what you want to do..We could recheck sooner... I can wait until your available, and I will put easier miles on it..

Great work, If I died tonight, I would have gotten my monies worth...

Other than bad mileage, this engine just screams...

Heavy lope and then wicked sounds at WOT..

I do love my Factory installed LT-1..:woot:

When you see me at an event, and hear it at idle and WOT, you will know why...

For me, it is the best of both worlds..

I can LS another car someday..

Thanks...

I went out again last Night..

Drove another 50 miles breaking the new stuff in..

I think it will be time to let Steve rack it and give it the once over before Summer..

My health is good right now, and I am taking advantage of it..

I may need more power, err, I want more power, but I have plenty to learn the Car handling for now...Autocross and HPDE , here we come...

I got to get my feet wet, before going out to play with the BIG dogs...

It is not done, but done enough..Had I gone for a complete redo, I may have never gotten it done..

Yes, Flash, my Life is all about Bucket Lists now...So that is why the name is changed..

waynieZ 04-21-2012 09:40 AM

Thanks Wayne..

I plan to enjoy my car, and really test some of the new stuff in a safe, legal area...

I want to test the edge of adhesion, but not on the streets and with people, and guardrails and concrete..

Soon enough I will get my chance..Where ? I am not sure yet..

But Steve did a great Job..

Oh and Steve, great call on the 19" in back..From the picture, they blend right in..18" on the back would have been too small..You got it right on..

John510 04-21-2012 11:33 AM

Very very nice.

I know you don't want to test it on the street but Niles Canyon Hwy84 is pretty empty in the middle of a weekday. :unibrow:

Except for the two bike Cops that have radar...That is their Beat...Heads up..

Ask me how i know....OK maybe don't ask me...

back in 1976 , listening to Frampton comes Alive, I used to take my 1970SS from my Parent's House in Fremont, to the livermore Strip...That was another Drive before they just redid that road..

We would go out Niles Canyon and then 84 to Livermore First street..
