Got the tail pipes made today, really crazy, almost look like Harley pipes. Can't put the tips on until I get the quarters made.

Ron,Lookin real good.Keep pressing on.
|
I am diggin that
Very cool with the double. I wonder how it will sound? I bet really good.
|
Got the torque arm crossmember fabbed, the exhaust eyebrows were a pain but turned out pretty good.

Very nice fabrication going on. I just caught up with the thread cool:wow: I see you are running parallel frame w C-6 up front, all this you built outa square stock, where do you know where all the C-6 suspension gets welded? Seem like the shops building C-6 chassis all look the same, I'm just curious as how one would go about learning this fab in detail.
Have you used the floater rear end before? I noticed Moser axles, did they build the 12 bolt? I dig the details and pixs, learn more:cheers: |

The front suspension was a bikini clip from Jakes Rod Shop, the fabrication, and welding skills are really just practice. The rear is a Dana 60 which I built myself with Moser snouts and hubs, some DOM 3" tubing, and a Strange center. |
awesome
this is the best build on here by FAR! can't wait to see more!
|
Been so busy working on my Mustang to get it ready for RTTS, that I haven't looked at this poor thing. I did finally get the 335's on the front, I'm loving the look.

Wow awesome job, you do beautiful work.
|
Looks real mean.
|
Excellent build. Its fun to follow along on this complete builds...wish I could get a customer to let me start on something like this. By the way, I couldnt help but notice the Nova in the background in post #23. Looks like it needs some frame connectors or a cage to stiffen it up huh? :)
|
great build. I like the tubolar braket for the front suspension pickups. It turned to be very original. Do you have any close-up pic ?

Ron,that looks awesome.Love the fat meat on the front:yes: . Great job:thumbsup:

Finally getting back to this car, anxious to see what the wheelbase change and cutting several inches off the nose was going to look like. Although the original flares aren't near big enough to hide the huge 335's, I moved them up and forward just wanted to get an idea how it was going to look. I do think its an improvement.

That's going to be a serious beast and contendor.
|
I think I would try to make the fenders flares bulge more like the mustang's instead of being tacked on looking. Either way, I'm sure it will turn out well when completed. Looking great so far Ron.
|
Love this car Ron....This thing just screams thrash me
One concern I do have though will be the heat to the passenger side rear tire from the exhaust. I imagine autocross events wont be a prob but I'm thinking prolonged runs on a road course may prematurely overheat the tire. |
Just when you thought you thought of everything. The pipes aren't really that close to the tire, but now that you said that it will definitely get wrapped and a stainless steel baffle to keep the heat away. That really is what makes these sites so great, 5000 heads are better then one. Thanks, Ron

Coating the exhaust tubes will also reduce your exhaust tubing temperature. Talk to the folks at Jet-Hot.

Car is starting to show its basic shape, with all the wheelbase, and length changes. I still think the front end needs a little more rake, but I won't know till I get the front bumper hung. I do think its an improvement over the original rambler design.

Ron that is looking like a rocket already
|
Ron this is turning out to be one bad SOB! Looks great  So what are the plans for the wheel openings? Are you going for a wide body look or nice flare job?
|
The front wheels are cambered in pretty good in its current state, and the tires are still rubbing. The flairs are going to be a fair amount bigger then I was hoping, but I still think you can do nothing but improve this body,LOL. I will finish the front then work on the rear, I'm kinda liking it though.
|
So it obviously sounds like your going to have to stretch for wheel room. I really like the look of the existing front wheel flares. Wonder what it would look like if you pulled them out and filled in behind them...
Did the original rear flares match the fronts? |
That was the original flare, just cut and relocated, unfortunatly it doesn't have the correct shape if I am going to go big on the flare. I have to put the camber where it belongs, and start cutting.
|
Looking more and more like a car everyday.

Ron, those flares on the front look perfect.

been watching this build for awhile going to been quite the car when its done the work so far is quite amazing for sure lots of talented guys on Lateral G did a couple of photo chops of the X maybe a 68-9 rear quarter wheel opening would cover them huge tires better than the original Amx quarters would they aren't the best but you can get an Idea keep up the great work http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j7...ctures/jui.png
http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j7...DSC00489-L.png |
little more inspiration for ya the Amx's big brother my 68 Javelin just finished it couple months ago http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j7...n/jav184-1.jpg

The car looks great. I rode in one of those Rambler Scramble's one time with a friend in a quarter mile race it was scary fast. Even more because at the end of the quarter was a 90 degree turn. I think I lost ten years off my life!
I could really use that ten years right now too. It should be a wild ride when your done. |

Pretty close to what I've got in mind. |
Really!!??
They are nicely done but i was really hoping for something overkill a la Mustang kinda!! Looking forward to any way you do it, Man i LOVE that Mustang....And thats coming from an all Red Blooded Chevy Freak!! Keep posting up on the Javelin. I will post some that you might like later, a friend of mine has a 70 Javelin shell over a Nascar chassis, we just repainted it 2 weeks ago and its getting finished up. (lettering and all/a Mark Donohue repro, before it was a ''Big Bad Orange theme) really is a street car look to it too) Lead. |
Any more work done on this sweet car? It looks like a go cart just sitting there.
|
wow the car is coming together very nice
|
Fuel tank just came in from ATL for this thing, its killing me not to have the time to work on it.
