Very cool. Is that dry sump tank on DRIVERS side in the trunk?

Vince@Meanstreets 08-04-2013 12:14 PM

thats some great fabrication work there Chris. Is the oval opening in the dash made with a custom press die or bead rolling magic?

Ya the dry sump is new to me. I talked with the Ferrari guys next door and they said it should work just fine as long as the outlets are a straight shot so we set it up to pull pretty straight.

Nascar puts them behind the driver-

I'm doing my first dry sump too. Lots of learning.

NASCAR is behind driver because they only turn left. Road race cars or anything other than oval track will place it on passenger side for weight bias (oil tank rear right and driver front left). The filled oil tank is pretty heavy and an opportunity to place weight where you want it. If it matters.

If this isn't headed to a track ever then I'd say no biggie. But if it is then a move to the passenger side is a viable option.

I put the battery on that side. I think the weight of a case of oil and battery are pretty close....but just in case we moved the seats 7/32 to pass side. lightened all the trim by .005 grams of weight compared to the pass side. Located the air box to the pass side:poke:

who I'm I kidding...it will NEVER see any track time!!:(

I need to build a track car!!

Lenie 08-04-2013 11:03 PM

Josh Ewing is a real metal crafter. The work he is doing on your builds is awesome.

youthpastor 08-05-2013 01:12 PM

he is amazing! And incredibly humble. I wish you could see the detail work on the trunk panel but the pictures don't do it justice

If you remember we bought all that DSE offers for these little shoeboxes and I gotta tell ya, the design is amazing. We purchased the front clip powdercoated and assembled. I am now installing the tubs, quadralink and frame connectors.
Here's a pic before I put it on the hoist today

ya, I rely on lots of vendors and I think I've got a good group now. From metal fabrication, paint, interior, polishing, plating, powder-coating.

We deal with vendor issues all the time and when I get a good group of people to run with It makes the builds more fun.
