Felt good about the speed/stop and autocross but never heard my time on the road course. I look at it this way.. if I could wheel the car to 6th then a good driver could have even done better since there's no way i ran 10/10ths on the road course.. Makes me proud of the old girl. And after the race I loaded it with all my stuff and drove her home.. Very happy with a "top 3" finish in the field of PT cars. And a big congrats to Mark Stielow.. that boy sure knows how to kick some serious ass.. :) |
Unless I missed something
I do not see how that list is accurate. Danny Pop ran the autocross, but his car broke on the first timed lap of the road course so he posted a DNF. I do not believe that he ever ran the speed stop.

Not sure until I see all the various bits. |
Lancer Evo and Nissan GT-R finishing 3 & T5..........with an all-wheel drive advantage. Say's a lot for the performance level of the old Chevy muscle cars and Bret's '33.
|
Just heard that they did use the time from Popp's warm up lap.. I thought that if you didn't complete the whole segment you got a DNF for that part of the competition?
In any event, that's why he still made it into the 7th slot. |
Honestly, congrats to Steilow for the win like others have said. But I'm extremely impressed with Brian's 2nd overall finish and road course win as he is down quite a bit on power from Steilow. And also VERY impressed with your 6th place finish Steve. That is huge, I would be very proud of yourself!!

In the top 10 for the speed-stop there were only three non-ABS cars.. one was Bret's kit-car roadster.. the other two were Brians car (8th) and my Camaro (9th). There's something to be said for launch control, AWD, and ABS :) |

And after the race I loaded up all my crap and drove her home to CA.. ;) |

As for not keeping up with Mark on the straight ... Marks car is super fast! But I was only suppose to only do one lap so I let out, but decided at the last minute to do one more for the simple fact that I love to chase fast drivers! They make me better. All in all ... people gonna hate on the girl. Boo. But to say one thing ... that was my FIRST time out there! not too bad. Just sayin. Congrats Mark ... you were killing it out there! Good times. |

My wife wants to take a few lessons, perhaps when that time comes you can offer some advice and direction. I'll need a few to. It's nice to see you here on LG and I hope you'll post regularly. We could benefit a lot from a professional like yourself. Welcome to :lateral:  |

Are you kidding? You were AWESOME! You just have to understand that Mark is "our boy" --- and if there was ever a time NOT to go in the dirt - it was chasing him..... 'cause we are all rooting for him to "kill" the smokin' fast 'Vette. Lap after lap you did a fantastic job! BTW -- I was the guy that told you to hang the tail out - go opposite lock - and punch it... |

Well played Josh. |
I was watching that Zr1 stay on everyone's bumper and thought wow that's one fast car and driver.....I would have paid for a ride along in that! Nice driving and I can't think of a better way to get seat time then to follow drivers that participated in OUSCI. Nice Job.

As far as being distracting in my mirror....not much to be seen out the back of a 33 Ford. I typically have to spin the car to see what was behind me. :) |

To corroborate SCEMO's explanation, she was in fact 1.5 to 2 car widths inside Stielow entering T1. At the time, it looked like she moved off-line for a reason, like a better camera shot or something...and then the car looked all funky as soon as she turned in on the tighter radius. For the rest of the day we were calling it a beige ZR1. :P That car and SCEMO were seriously hauling, lap after lap all day long. |
Anybody have a video of this happening?
:_paranoid |
Did the ZR1 start off on race tires and them more to treaded tires? Seems to me like it did..
Anyways, I sure couldn't shake it.. then again I'm a hack on the road course :) |

Steph, great job chasing all day. You are bad ass!
I sure hope you got some video of Marks car at the end of the back straight away as it way shooting big flames out the exhaust. There was a whole group of us watching the speed stop event when Mark was running and we were all distracted each time Mark flew by with flames coming out as he braked hard for the next turn. I sure cant wait to see the broadcast and any spy videos. |

Thanks guys for all the props. I had a great time. It was worth the cracked windshield ... Mr. Popp! lol It did scare the living hell out of me tho. |
