Beautiful build Rusty. I am definitely subscribed to this one as I too am building a 65 FB with the DSE minitubs. I'll have to start a thread on the build as we're already past the install.

Brian wanted something fun to work on so he started installing the DSE rear suspension. Part of the trunk floor has to be cut out.

Looking good Rusty.

Front cradle bolted in place and new DSE front mounts welded in place of the stock sway bar mount

awesome build
|
you guys going to weld the crush sleeves into the frame?
|
You have to weld a snubber bracket to the frame rail
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pscad8e77f.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psb32fc586.jpg Crush tubes welded in place http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps9352b6ac.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps5e9f7723.jpg Starting to fabricate a brace. DSE leaves the stock strut rod brackets but I like this better plus it gives you somewhere to place a jack. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps8de92309.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps34e4456e.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps7a4f53f1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps40ef1a98.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps1d5f4f5e.jpg |
Damnnnnn that's a nice setup, nice work!
|
I believe your snubber bracket is welded more securely than my frame rails were when I received them in from a vendor!!!!
Awesome progress |
Love what you're doing Rusty!
|
The new DSE kit makes me want to build a mustang.

In the spirit of A Christmas Story...I triple-dog-dare you. All of your builds have been amazing, so there is no doubt you would absolutely do a Mustang justice. |
Fine guys you win I will start looking for the next project.

Looking good Rusty. Almost like it belongs there from factory. :D
Keep us posted. |
The next on our list was to install the DSE rear suspension. It is a good thing they send a video and Brian bought a portable DVD player. This is what he is starting with.

It has been awhile since Brian started installing the DSE rear suspension.
You have to assemble the upper control arm bracket. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps40f84371.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps4172003a.jpg Shock mounting bracket also welded in place http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps756f47be.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps4b04b4c4.jpg |
Before Brian started the bottom brackets I sprayed a couple coats of epoxy
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psd5100da2.jpg The lower bracket is tack welded to the DSE torque box. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps3b6bdf04.jpg Welded in place along with another bracket http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps4733aa0a.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps8671ef04.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psbca116f7.jpg |
That looks like a beefy set up.
|
Rusty,
Thanks for documenting the DSE installations! Your photos are great. --Eric |
Looks very nice.
?? How much lower then the frame rails does that bracket hang. It looks to be like 3 or 4" which seems awful low. |
At one time the floor board had been worked on.

nice work as always Rusty:thumbsup:
|
WOW, better than new!
|
Good job guys!
|
Brian installed the DSE suspension today so we can figure out our wheel and tire combo. This is the first time test fitting the rear suspension. Everything fit perfect and Brian said the hardest thing to install was the rear sway bar.
