And now time for the floor. I used 16 gauge steel for the floor which made shaping and bending a bit harder, but it helped keep everything very stiff and prevented the oil canning effect. That was also the reason for the flat bar spanning the open areas. Since I didn't have a bead roller I figured i would stick with the flat bar theme and use that to help keep the floor stiff. Worked out pretty well and the flat bar across the bottom also gives me a great spot for mounting seats and exhaust hangers.

If you know Morrison frames, you know that they build them to go from bumper to bumper. This is ideal if you are welding the body to the frame because it gives a great place to mount bumper brackets and such. Since my frame is removable, i needed to shorted the back end so that the body could be lifted off the frame directly upwards. you can see that it is short enough now to clear the bottom of the tail pan. I will just build custom bumper brackets that extend from the frame to the bumper, no big deal.

This is a curved transition to fill the void between the floor and the wheel tub. Easy to make on paper, but harder to form on metal!

I couldn't stand the stepped transition just behind the shifter because it was way too abrupt and looked odd. i have since cut that out and made a nice sloped transition which looks a lot better.

And the trunk. I did it a bit different than the factory but i think it turned out pretty well. I am going to build false floors around the perimeter so that when finished the trunk is all one level.

This is the firewall that was just a bondo job. I cut the whole thing out and installed a new one. No reason to post these other than the fact that the lighting in my shop finally worked in my favor!

Aman that build takes a lot of guts...great fab work getting that Art Morrison chassis in there.Keep up the good work...

Thanks for the compliments guys. The lighting in my shop really doesn't do the pictures justice, but I'm pretty proud of the work I have completed thus far. I recently purchased some wheels and an awesome LS2 stroker from Vega$69, who is an awesome guy to deal with. I'll be picking up the wheels this weekend and will mount them and take more photos. Baby steps...

And now for the best part! New wheels purchased from Vega$69. Again, i gotta say how great it was to work with him. He packaged my wheels for shipping very carefully and promptly. Hats off to great Lateral-G members like him. A before photo with the roller wheels and then the Forgelines.

If you look at this photo it would seem like the body is too far back because the wheel wells are not evenly spaced with the wheels. When I first installed the wheels, i thought i royally eff'd up and mounted the body on the frame incorrectly. However, after waking up with fresh eyes this morning I realized it is only sitting like that because the last time i put the body on the frame, i didnt bother lining up the mounting holes, i just set it on there however it layed. After lining up the bolt holes today, everything is centered correctly. phewf.

Oh man, I was so mad at myself when I saw how it sat. I even measured when i was putting it all together to prevent that from happening and I started thinking to myself about how i could have screwed it up. I was depressed all night long. As soon as I walked in the garage in the morning I immediately remembered the last time I put the body on I didnt bother lining anything up. All things considered, this was a good fail!

I'm glad it was something simple. The wheels look great on there. Nice work!

I didn't really like how it all turned out, and I had known an incredible fabricator in the area who I had do some trick work for me. He did a bunch of things. Most notable would be that he redid the front suspension to bring the car down to an acceptable rake from where the original morrison frame was at. He also had the great idea of extending the rockers out past the front of the body so that you had one continuous body line along the bottom of the car.

You can see in these photos how there was an outrageous rake opposite of what it should be. Even without the front sheet metal and engine and other components in there, it just was never going to be what I wanted it to look like. First of all, I reallllllllyyyy apologize for the photodump. I'm actually a very particular person and like to approach things systematically. Unfortunately, the powers-to-be at photobucket decided to make the worst possible business decisions they could ever make a few years ago and my gumption to post photos regularly was lost. I've now paid the 50 bucks for the yearly subscription, but their system of uploading photos and then being able to organize them and post them in a systematic manner might as well be an 80 hour a week job. Some more of the photo dump...Worked on the inner fenders to make room for the new chassis. Also worked on the rear bumper. Basically, everything that I do to the car I want to look somewhat like it came from the factory but just with a little better touch. I feel like these cars that we are all building have stood the stand of time, so why mess with it!! Let's keep a classic a classic with just a minor touch here and there. The LS motor and interior with the gauges will also follow the same theme.

Now here is the modification to the back bumper. There have been a lot of bumper modifications, but I haven't seen one yet that is so simple yet effective. Simply moving it down and changing the tailpan lines helps a lot!!
