Looking good. 70's are one of my favorite muscle cars. Looks like your going to need longer bolts for those spindels and brakets....

Eric, to me they are top notch. Trust and believe, something doesn't have to be built by some high dollar, big name shop to be top notch. This is your baby that you are building with your own hands and putting your touch on it. That's not something many of us can say. I wished I could only a fourth of some of the stuff some you guys can do. Keep up the good work.

I really don't know how time can go by so fast ,but it does and here we are in the middle of feb. and still not even done with the motor mock up started fabbing some shock mounts out of a old electrical pannel dug out of a dumpster 11 gauge steel is like gold bars to me lets cut it up and make something cool out of it.

Awesome job Eric. Its great your son is getting involved as well. My oldest son is 12 today and past 6 months he has started to get more interested in working on cars. Its a great way for father and son(s) to spend time together.

Looking forward to seeing more progress. :popcorn2:

Thanks for the interest and I hope your son gets into it as well because this is the best I have found so far in life is spending quality time with my kids! my boy just turned 13 and he really is not that into cars but likes to build things in the shop, when he comes up with something I try to just drop everything and help him build and create,he thinks all dads are like this and this is normal.lol just made another video with me and him doing some airbrushing. I will post up a link soon.

E.rodz 02-21-2013 12:21 PM

well finally got some work done on the car attempting to get the shock mounts done.

lol.

I was being funny and forgot to put "LOL" behind my post. I said "C5/C6" because that's what 90% of all builds get now. Even some Ford and Mopar guys use Corvette stuff on their frames.

E.rodz 02-25-2013 07:43 AM

finaly got a couple hrs. to get some work done on the car still lots of planning going on more cutting and welding.shock mounts mocked up hoping to get the rest of the front suspension done this week then take the body off.

ANY MORE GUESSES ON WHAT THESE SHOCKS ARE OFF OF?

Che70velle 02-25-2013 08:37 PM

Eric, no idea on what they came from. In the last pic you have posted, it looks as though your compression travel is gonna be short. In this picture, is the suspension mocked up at ride height? Nice fab work you have going on there!

lol. the suspension in the last pic. is just hanging there with no bags in it. working on the bag mounts and the A arms this week the travel is perfect shocks come 1/4" away from bottoming when suspensionis fully compressed.

E.rodz 03-10-2013 12:16 PM

work has been a bit on the slow side way to many distractions . but still chipping away a little at a time still working on getting the front end done made a video time lapse of the build in the last couple months. please let me know what you think!

E.rodz 03-25-2013 05:45 PM

looks like more hole cutting! I thought the idea was to fill the holes not make more . oh well looks like I was never to good at following rules.lol.

I'm liking what you are doing on the suspension. Totally different than anything else. Keep up the updates.
As for the shocks, they kind of look like something off a Jeep. Aftermarket of course.

Are you sure these shocks are going to work for this application ?

An average snow machine weighs about 500 lbs total - wet.
I agree there may be some issues with putting these on a car, this car probably has move than 500lbs per corner without the sheet metal :)

the car is what 3600lbs without bodies in it? I see that the air bag bares the weight but the ability of a shock absorber to do its job depends on the effective area of the working piston. It will be interesting to hear if these can keep up in discharging all that thermal energy.

Are those Walker Evans RMK Dragon air filled?

Marty I did do some research on this before and really thought about it and the valving in the shocks is completly tunable for the difference in weight. this makes such a huge difference on my sled getting the dampening dialed in it is just incredible how big of a difference a couple of clicks makes so after talking to my shock guy for building snowmobile shocks he custom makes all kinds of shocks and assured me I was not crazy he revalved them to care of my concerns I am confident they will work but I am not afraid to fail if they don't I am going to run the same in the rear.
