Enzo,
Congratulations. You nailed it man. Everything is so well executed.

Things like this don't just happen......you obviously planned this build out.

You took a great car to start with (a '66) and made it much, much better.

Love it!

Thanks for the compliment. It is coming together really well and I can't wait to have it on the road.

Car looks fantastic, sounds pretty mean too.

What did you end up using for engine mounts, headers, and oil pan?

Engine and trans mount are from Energy. The headers are Edelbrock but needed t be modified to clear the starter. I think they are discontinued for that reason. The oil pan is the new Holley retro fit deal.

Very nice build. I really like how you kept some stock bits but expanded on it. Nice job! Can't wait to see it with the new wheels.

Video of First Drive

New Year's Eve was a good day. The guys from Ridetech delivered the rest of the suspension and I was able to take it around the block a few times for the first time.

Pretty stoked - here is the vid:

Vince@Meanstreets 01-02-2013 10:43 AM

Rybar 01-02-2013 10:49 AM

I was holding my phone while steering the car. The other hand was shifting - it was very impromptu.

OFF DA HOOK Enzo!!!!!! She sounds mean man!!!! I have a 67 Skylark that I am building at the moment pretty much what you have done are my plans for my Lark!!! Thanks for the inspiration!!!

Awesome build! Love the way you kept it a Malibu among many other things that are fantastic about your car. It's pretty funny too that I'm building a 66 Malibu that I bought out of San Diego a few years ago, drive a black Duramax, pull a Featherlite trailer and have two young children! I too have always loved the 1st and 2nd gen Camaros and ended up with a second Chevelle. Think our kids will appreciate the added room in the back:D

Don't mean to hijack your thread but here is a link to my build...

BTW did you buy or make your center console?

cooljralan 01-06-2013 05:14 PM

I've seen your project on here before - very cool. Yeah pretty stoked on the Chevelle for the family, I am literally within days of taking it home and my boys and I are chomping at the bit (wife too... kinda). I am sure your car is a load of fun when it's under boost - maybe in my next life.

The console was made by the guy who did the upholstery, Mark Lopez at Elegance Auto Interiors.

Anyway thanks for the support and the compliments - take care!

UPDATE - Project COMPLETED - With Pictures!

Wow!
I did not realize that it had been this long since I posted an update! I got the car running in late January and was able to finally take it home. I have been driving the hell out of it. Overall I am really pleased with the car and the way it came out. The guys at Best of Show dialed me in - and I couldn't of asked for a better result then what I got. I added some pics... long overdue.
Enjoy!

enzo 04-04-2013 08:08 PM

Thanks for the thumbs up guys. Got it over to the Del Mar Good Guys with some help from Matt A, Dick and Jon from Best of Show. Looking forward to a fun weekend. If anyone is going, it's in the Budnik booth in the main hall. I will be trying my luck at the Autocross at the next show.

FETorino 04-06-2013 09:57 PM

Nice meeting you at Del Mar. The car looks even better in person

Good Guys Del Mar

I was able to get the car to the Del Mar Good Guys show, albeit not in the autocross...
I double booked some stuff with my kids that weekend, but nonetheless here are a few pics.

The last one is the final pic of the weekend - Matt A even made an appearance.

Maybe I missed it, but what finish is on those wheels? They look phenomenal.

enzo 04-11-2013 09:36 PM

It's a gold color from a Lexus IS. They were painted satin finish.

They look amazing! If you have the paint code would you mind shooting it to me? I was gonna do a bronze on my lips but think this might be better.

Hope you would t mind that

Thanks

Yep that was me. Drove the fan up to Huntington for a family reunion. Took the coast home. Thanks!

switchblade327 08-11-2013 06:20 PM

Hey Enzo,

I saw your Chevelle on a YouTube channel recently. It looks fantastic in black and the gold wheels are a unique choice that look great. A Smokey tribute?

I see a lot of pictures of those big meats but if you posted their size anywhere, I missed it. What size wheels and tires are they? Backspacing? Any modifications to make them fit?

I seem to have the almost identical suspension and brake setup as you do on my '66 post (Ridetech suspension [mine is coilover; not air] + Kore3 brakes [z51 instead of Z06]) so it'd be very helpful to see those numbers :)

enzo 02-17-2014 03:02 PM

Well the fat lady will be singing soon

Due to some business opportunities on the horizon, I have decided to sell the Chevelle. Hopefully it will end up in a good home, as this car is fully sorted out and ready to go. I am posting this on the For Sale section too, with the details of the sale.
Check out this site with the info on the car

Thanks guys.

Measure carefully. Fits in a stock wheel well
