Chris, its your car. Do what you like. That's the DNA of the hobby. Individualism. It's about what you like, not us. I would never ask for somebody else's opinion for my rides. If someone doesn't like what you've done, oh well.
I build my stuff for me. Shoot, you'd have to build a 69 camaro to make most of the world happy. Oops, did I just say that? |

Thanks for the props. And yes you just said that..... The 69 camaro guys have you in the cross-hairs! LOL |

I'm definitely not hatin on 69 camaros. I've seen a few that really stood out to me. I love what can be done to them, and what's available in aftermarket support.

Figured I would throw up a couple of updates since it has been a while. Life has been a little bit crazy lately. It is amazing how time flies, I cant beleive the year is coming to a close. I have a feeling that it's not going to slow down either...
The chassis in now painted and going together. It is almost a shame to cover it with a body!! This thing is a work of art http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...psbbeaab3d.jpg http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps476c9247.jpg Some of the work is done on the inside to seal it up http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...psd3448459.jpg I definately think I have :bigun2: the $h!t out of any budget I thought I was going to have with this car..... I may have to sell the El Camino to sleep at night.... |
Looks great! I got a good laugh about your "budget" comment. I'd love to see a poll on here to see how many have stayed within the so called "budget" that you speak of.

and knew that it would get out of hand. Wich it has, and I can't wait to see how it turns out. |
How in the world did I miss this one. I think the Chevelle guys need our own section.:secret:
I am loving this one. Looks like you are doing it right. I'll subscribe now.... Please keep the pictures coming. As for the door locks? Not really sure, I like them both ways. I even thought I would install late model door handles on mine, but for the ease of getting it done, I will probably just keep them stock. HEEP |

I am going to keep the locks, I also have a set of "Ring Brothers" handles that I am going to use. I was going through your build as well. It is a great project. I like the fact that you have had yours for so long as well, got to spend time with your dad and kids. Great story! Our son just turned 3 and he has to be part of anything I do. Even prepping for shows.... http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...psb3d8ba4c.jpg |

great work, looks like a kickass project. |

What a great looking kid. Raising him right already. I wish I was at this point. Congrats on the Nov arrival. The second one brings a whole new level to parenting. It's awesome. When mine were the ages of yours, I was building the HEEP. My son loves that thing. It will probably be the first ride for him. Amazing how much time these things take. Keep working on this and keep updating. HEEP |
I have been running like mad here lately. My wife and I are expecting our second little one in about 3 weeks, but we got a chance to get up north and check on the progress of the Chevelle.:excited: :excited:
I am very impressed with how it is coming along. I have given the owner some ideas and he has done a great job of listening and bringing this car to life. He has some serious talent. He has also been very on top of calling me or e-mailing me to bounce ideas or suggestions. He has kept progress photos coming as well, being 300 miles away those things are important. Several times I have called and he answers the phone or will call right back. I would recomend if your in the pacific north west area and looking for a shop, stop in and look around. Now to some photos.... http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps9f9dc603.jpg http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps472ad002.jpg http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps4edfbc8b.jpg http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps029354c8.jpg http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...psd15c1366.jpg |
The new Ultimate Headers showed up and they look AMAZING!!!:ups: :flashie:

Looking great! What kind of time frame for being finished?
|
We are hoping to get it buttoned up early next year, thinking sometime in February. Wanting to hit some big shows in Ca. and Or. Will have to see how things go, have alot on our plate right now.:hairpullout:

I was just talking to a friend of mine tonight about how it "evolved" to where it is now. So much for a big inch motor and a paint job, wich was the original plan. We are hauling A:censored: on it for sure, we have a few shows we want to hit next year, and don't want to miss a couple of the early ones. As far as seeing it in CA. in Feb. Just drive north I am at the top of the state. Just a quick 12 or so hour drive....:twak: |

Thanks! That pic was at his first show with me, he was so happy to help and jumped right in! He is hooked. |
Well progress is moving right along on the Chevelle. It is coming together for sure. The car is bolted back together, brakes lines, etc are done. Wiring is next. Then interior. The most important part is it is in paint!:excited: :excited: :excited: The crew at Precision Classics are doing an amazing job on the car!
Front brakes http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...psab6fce1a.jpg blocked and ready! http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps16b86b9a.jpg http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...psb2dd6f3e.jpg http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...psf4055072.jpg http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps12f1676d.jpg http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps2ba0cb28.jpg http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...psb98e4aaf.jpg http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...psea655601.jpg |

That looks awesome! I love the stripes.

Ditto on the stripes as well. More info on the color also. Are those the wheels your running? The pics make the back spacing look too shallow, almost like your rear end has been narrowed? This car is going to be sick! Loving this!

The color is a green/greyish. It is called Mystic Green. We are just waiting on the interior panels and the material from The Shop LLC, so that Jon Lind can get moving on the seats, headliner, etc. and assemble the rest of the interior. I think next week is wiring up the car. I can't wait to hear this thing run! I really have to give it to the guys up there, they are nailing this car as far as what I had visioned then went beyond. The time frame has been extremely reasonable. They keep the updates consistant. I was sketchy about taking my car 6 hours away, but they have made it very comfortable. |
Here are a couple more shots:

Who did your mini tubbing? What did you use?

Bill, Marcus hit the nail on the head. The inner wheel houses were pulled, split and about a 3" piece of metal was welded in. Put it all back together and modify a couple of trunk supports. I am using Eddie Motorsport trunk hinges instead of the stock set up and it took a little more modification. They told me it wasn't too bad to do though. |
any pictures of that process? I am about to start on that on mine. I havent seen anyone actually post pictures.
thanks, |

In short, if you look at the tubs from the trunk you would cut the inner tub where the 2 are welded together in the center drill out the spot welds at the trunk, remove amount of metal from floor, install tub, and fill center of tub with new metal. This is a short version and there is more to it than that, but I am at work... :shakehead: I am sure someone will chime in about it since most of the cars here have had it done to some extent. Try a search as well, and I will try to get more info and some pics if I can. Hope these come through. I found these on the post from Ironworks Chevelle build. We didn't remove the back panel the way they did. Hope they don't mind that I pass the pics along. https://lateral-g.net/forums/show...light=mini+tub http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...28-2012004.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...28-2012006.jpg |
I would like to thank Chris for the opportunity to build this car, and giving me the freedom to use my ideas and imagination. I have put a lot of heart and soul into this car and loved every minute of it
Thanks Eron Precision Classics & Collision |
