Just wanted to know where do the more serious P-T guys hang out with not just opinions, but, perhaps, race car builders etc, people with a wealth of knowledge and understanding of components as to what works and cant work. Not slamming either site nor wondered for that sort of purpose or to start anything in regards to anything. Was more or less for me, where do I find guys that win races, build race cars, know how to design chassis etc, which forum is more of that to be found on, or is that a void question as those people would be too busy to be on either forum

Vegas69 01-03-2013 10:34 PM

Why don't you come to your own conclusions.:unibrow:

This should have been the first question then. That wasn't what you asked so your question wasn't answered.

Oh -- Why didn't you just say so! In that case -- just ask Todd <aka: Vegas69>

I'm just full of **** like 99% of the other guys around here, including YOU. :D

GregWeld 01-03-2013 10:44 PM

George -- In all seriousness.... you'll find that on BOTH forums...

And which one you hang out on "more" depends on how your personality fits with the other guys.

Some guys on here just 'click' -- and there's real friendships that have formed... and as I've said many a time - it's more like a bunch of your buddies have come over to the garage and you're just hanging out. But there are some serious fabricators and builders here and they're posting and willing to share info etc.

Like Todd just said -- hang out -- read -- interact -- and you'll figure out which site works for you.

Ron in SoCal 01-03-2013 10:48 PM

G-man George - wake up man. Somewhere I know you've got some brains. You just don't seem to use them before you post IMO. This is not a race only forum. Corner carvers is. I'm sure somewhere there's F1 and NASCAR forums, but guys building what you are asking for in the post above (i.e. tube frame chassis, no interior) do not dominate the list in the projects section. This is not to say we do not appreciate performance and race builds.

Your threads on PT were hilarious.

"What if I throw 200k at my Charger, will it beat a supercar?"
"I'm buying a 355 to race it"
"Scratch that, I'm gettin a Ford GT"
"Ok, final answer I want a Mutt-stang"

What’s next?

It was a fair and reasonable question I think. It came from a non-confrontational place. :)

Another one to check out that is a little hardcore for track and race cars is corner-carvers.

Yes it did come from a non confrontational place Dave.

That link was a list of all thread started on by G-Man on PT. Try this:

Well, I find I like this site. Colours are nicer to!

My threads may have come across hilarious on PT because

A: Perhaps the people do not really understand what I am trying to get at
B: Some stuff may have simply been dumb though at the time with the education at that time was not dumb (learning process).

T_Raven 01-03-2013 11:03 PM

Wow I'm surprised so many here dislike p-t. Both sites have a lot of the same members and you see a lot of the same project threads and for sale threads.

I check both sites every day. All I use are the "today's posts" link to see what's new, and the search function to look up something specific.

I've never noticed any drama on p-t. I post more there because it's more active and I don't feel the need to make the same threads on both sites.

That's some funny shiat.

I'm smellin what your cookin Ron... wait, was that comment too close to home? :D

Here is another of George's funny comments from PT:

"Buying a corvette is stupid when I could just drive a ferrari around. "

Nice one, George.

Richio1 01-03-2013 11:08 PM

G - maybe try yellowbullet.com. Plenty of tube chassis over there.

For me this is where I am daily. I belong to and frequent PT and Team Camaro but this is MY favorite. You guysW crack me up plus there is way less drama over here.

:lateral:

FWIW I also like the "today's posts" over there and hate that I have issues with the "new posts" tab here working on my iPad. Jody, you gotta find a fix for that. This is the only site I have that problem with. :-)

Don't sweat it. Just sit back and read through some of the builds. Think about putting a clear list of goals for your car together. Take your time thinking about what you need to know before you ask.

There is a lot of talent lurking on here. Just like life in the real world you will either like the crowd and hang out, decide it isn't for you and move on or be burned at the cross.

The people with the real knowledge about how to do that stuff are either old guys who don't know how to use the internet, or are guys that are too busy building and designing tube chassis race cars (and going to Hawaii), etc. to have time to post on here

I am joking, well maybe not really.

I don't think it's a dislike as much as it is a preference. That's all. I certainly don't dislike p-t.com. As Albert mentioned, we're fortunate to have both. I totally. Agree. Both are great resources. Both have very different feels to them as well.

Nessumsar 01-04-2013 10:09 AM

I get a greater sense of "community" here; and I like that.

We seem to hate the same things, and that's important.

Agreed. Don't even start that sh*t in here.

19,69camaro 01-04-2013 11:37 AM

I think both sites have their place. One thing I noticed is that "appears" to be more shop builds on here, and more budget garage builds there. I like to think that I can gain inspiration from both.

This place is home for me. I ride through other neighborhoods every now and again, but this place is the best.:lateral:

burntnova 01-04-2013 01:54 PM

I can't compare the two site since I have never been on PT site, but this site has been great for me. I am a do everything myself kind of guy and just watching all the high dollar projects done by the different shops and individuals have helped me without a doubt. Sometimes I do look around lat-g and feel like the poor guy on the site, but I'm good with that since I'm gaining the knowledge.

preston 01-04-2013 02:00 PM

That's my feeling as well - lat-g just seemed to have a little bit more shop/pro builds and a little higher level of execution on the resident vehicles. LIttle bit higher level of tech.

RECOVERY ROOM 01-04-2013 04:44 PM

I like the one liners here. And the cars are ok to  ( there is some bad a$$ cars on this site to look at from all over the country )
