Very Cool Brian.Love mid year Vette's.Now go :gitrdun:
Cool feature. Mike had told me about the history of the Corvette, but it was cool to hear the backstory about how you guys got started, and know I think I have a better idea as to why you're driving the second gen now.

I will be dyno'ing in the coming weeks at S&S as well... (Watson Racing takes many of their engines to Rick's shop for dynoing I guess). |

C2, 7500 rpm, Bright Red & Black....:flag2: :excited:
x2 seriously, I would love if my LT1 could spin like that.
Congrats on the magazine write-up, well deserved. I think there is something to be said about having the Camaro and the Corvette both featured in magazines.
The engine going back into the Corvette sounds like it's going to be wicked cool. Look forward to seeing the Corvette run with the newly built motor. |
Well..... WE'RE WAITING....
Come on Brian! Where's the obligatory dyno sheet!! You know I love this car. I still remember you running at RTTC and laying down 3 runs back to back within .01 of each other.... Remember? You were trying to break 37. and finally made it! Amazing driving skills! |
The Corvette hit the dyno last week and performed very nicely. It made 434 hp to the rear wheels at 6800 RPM. That is about a 40 HP gain and peak power went from the old of 6400 to the new of 6800. The torque peak was just about the same as the old motor, about 400 to the rear wheels. The curve is much flatter than the old motor. Redline went from a limted 7000 RPM to 7500 RPM. The intenal parts will allow us to do this with no problem. We lowered the compression a full point to allow us to run pump gas. This cost us some HP. Overall, it should be a very well rounded motor that we can beat on for years to come.
This was a great week for me and my Dad. With the Corvette back running we ran two autocross days this weekend. The car ran great. The power is just about perfect. The car is handling great and about to get better! Wilwood Disc Brakes and I are going to join forces again to compete in the 2013 Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational. Here is what was posted on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/wilwood.bra...woodDiscBrakes Wilwood is very pleased to announce that Brian Hobaugh will be representing Wilwood Disc Brakes at the 2013 Optima Batteries Ultimate Street Car Invitational in his 1965 Corvette Stingray wide-body. Stay tuned into our Facebook page for a feature video soon. I took some photos of the car and took a few with my Camaro. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...ps22359104.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...ps9d4ea8f1.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...ps4805b4d1.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...ps67d5e087.jpg |

That's great news Brian! Congrats! You're certainly gonna make it another can't miss OUSCI. Good luck!
Great pic of 2 of the baddest cars out there! |
Congrats on the spot. Wilwood made a wise decision picking the 'Vette!
Congrats on the engine and invite. The vette is so badass.
Brian,
Is that an LT1? If not, what kind of fuel Injection is on there? |

Congrats on the invite, Brian. Definitely, one of my favorite C2's:thumbsup:
Congrats on the invite with Wilwood, awesome pair of cars!
Why I am not
building a C2 just like that one is beyond me....what was I thinking. I love that car.
I agree 100% Payton. Wow, can't wait to see it at OUSCI. Congrats Danny
I remember drooling over that Vette at the RTTC earlier this year. I think you had some motor troubles with it at that event but I remember seeing it taking some turns.
Wasn't the car just shot for a magazine as well? I want to say I remember looking it over. |

Chevy High Performace just featured the car in the September 2013 issue. Brian |

That's right...it was a really really nice write up too! I'll have to dig around and find that issue again. We get about 10 different magazines here, so they get piled up. |
The Corvette got upgraded with new JRI Shocks and we played at a place we have not been for almost 20 years...Crows Landing. We hope to get this site back long term. SCCA was able to secure it for a trial weekend. I don't think we used half of the property. The course was over 6200 ft long and about 90 seconds for most cars. We walked the course once and got three runs. This is my second. Memorizing the course was almost impossible. Look ahead!
Great run. Car sounds great and sticks to the track well. Thanks for sharing the video!
That looked like a fun course! Good speed and dependency on vision skills and reaction time.
How did the car work with the new shocks? |

Really good shocks are a ton of money, but once you experience the differences the money is secondary to the rewards. Nice to hear a great car is greater!
That did seem long, new motor...new shocks and that thing looks faster than ever. Sounds good also.
What tire sizes are on this red beauty?
boy it really sucks to be you. I would hate to have to decide which car I was going to have to race for the next event!
I always loved the car before, but now WOW. Love the red and black. |
Nice feature! Congrat's Brian.
Congrats on the coverage, Brian. Very well deserved. Great car and an even better story!
Congrat's Brian,The corvette is amazing.GL @ OUSCI.
That was a killer video Brian! :bigun2: Musto is right. You've got the best C2 Vette out there!
Outstanding car and video coverage ... thanks for sharing!:trophy-1302:
Awesome car, awesome built, awesome story. Congrats.
What wheels are those?
Great video, definitely one of my favorites to date. It is amazing what Mike, Zack and Thadius can shoot with a few cameras and a Caprice wagon.
