Jake's front spoiler and interesting exhaust system. I'd really like to see an undercarriage shot of Big Red. :secret: |

It's hard to look at Big Red with the narrow tires on it. Use to of seeing some 345s. That is a bad ass car.

Thanks for posting these photos .... now I'm gonna sit and watch "The World's Fastest Indian" with Anthony Hopkins, the salt flats is on the bucket list!
Thanks again and keep em coming! :excited: |

I'm no engine guru, but whats with the height of those heads? it looks so high performance, they look twice the height of a normal head

:y0!: :y0!: Its a Big Block FORD!!! that is why they are so high and why it is so fast  |
My guess is they're using a raised deck block AND Dart Big Chief 18* heads....

These are the big boy parts they don't sell at Summit. |
Just curious, those pics of all the salt on the car makes me cringe. How do they keep these cars from turing to a pile of rust after being on the salt?

I'm off the salt or I'd go get some more information. The flyer they gave says its a 598ci motor that made 1108hp at 7k rpm, that's before the procharger. The lady with the fingernails had said they are now north of 1600hp.
I'm not a motor guy at all but wouldn't you think a n.o.s. motor would be different than a blown motor? I doubt they just slapped on the procharger. I'm glad I got to see the car up close after reading about it for so many years. As far as the salt, if you don't clean it off it will definatly ruin the car. My dads studebaker after 3-4years is showing major signs of rust. A lot of the cars have finishes that protect against corrosion, that and they get blown apart and detailed once off the salt. These guys are trying to hit the mark with just raw power, very little in the way of aero. At a certain speed you have to overcome the wall of air you're trying to push through. Add weight to keep traction or clean up the aero and add wings, sill plates, diffusers, spoilers. You'd be surprised how heavy some of the cars are. Dan |

D motor, don't have my rule book but pretty sure that's under 305ci. Pretty big motor for being so small!

Blaadow! Same car, they have the record at 249 an change.

Did anybody else besides me notice the fuel cell capacity for the camaro?
That is a lot of weight. How many miles are they running the cars at a time? |
I was just trippin on that too. 55 gal? wtf, but that thing is sure moving ALOT of air at that velocity, that beotch is thirsty.
Ha, i like what Rodger said, i think these are "big boy" parts they dont sell at Summit.... |

THANK YOU!! |
Great pictures, Dan! Thanks for posting. These salt racers are so cool. The aero work a lot of them have is neat to see. There are so many little things that have an impact of the way air flows to help the cars go.
