Black as it can get with no metallic...SPI black with their universal clear, which i think i already mentioned. Great company!

Changed the pedals back to the manual assembly. Once again, I had major issues with the chinese reproduction pedal and had to replace the shaft and alter a few other things...took me about two hours.

Wiring is going very slowly, but that is just how it works. Ill update as i make progress.

2/12/14

The clutch kit came with this cheap plastic reservoir, which i decided was going to stick out like a sore thumb in the engine bay. So, i spent some extra money on a Ring Brothers billet reservoir.

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...psdd93c1ea.jpg

I thought about where to mount it for a long time and finally decided that it would look best if I mounted it to the Driver's side female hood catch.

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...psa9b760ea.jpg

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...pseabdc651.jpg

Next I bent, flared, and attached the brake lines to the ABS Master Cylinder

My tools of choice. The hydraulic flaring tool was expensive, but it certainly has come in handy over the past 10 years!

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps7951b5ac.jpg

A small can of STP belt dressing worked well for curling the lines.

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps577f74c7.jpg

The only wrenches I have ever owned that can get the stainless lines tight enough to seal them.

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...psdc60532d.jpg

I mounted the electric brake booster from ABS to the driver's upper frame rail.

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...psa042cae1.jpg

Looking pretty sexy on this side of the engine bay! I'm quite happy with the purchases I've made for this car!

Love the build,, just wondering tire size and backspacing on front ?? Are you going to have to modify front fender wells ? to get it not to scrub,, when turned ?

The steel wheels are just rollers from an original chassis and don't fit well on the new chassis. 245's will fit up front without a problem. I don't think i would want to modify the wheel wells after paint...that would be very poor planning on my part! Without modifying or adding aftermarket rear quarters, 295's are the max for the rear.

Amazing build!!!! Love the 63 split windows!!!!! I really love what you're doing with this build!!!

My old Vette,,

Nice build!

Im 5' 7", so thanks for the compliment. ;) The factory seats actually go back pretty far and can accommodate most people...my uncle is 6'2" and he enjoyed his C2 for about 25,000 miles before selling it. However, one must be careful when installing newer model seats in a C2. I used C5 seats in the 66 Restomod I built last year and they were way too tight, even for a midget like me.

The trick is to sneak up on the seal -- don't go all rambo on the first tightening.... I tighten a bit - and back off - then give it another tighten and you'll find you go a bit further - then back off and then give it another little bit more.... about 3 or 4 times and she'll be just right.

What a lot of folks do is kill the brass cone inside the female fitting - the SS is so much harder... so you need to sneak up on having it mate. JUST the way I've found it works for me.

Love the build! Makes me want to buy back my '67 Coupe from my buddy and put a nice SRIII chassis or The Roadster Shop chassis under it!

I also add a dab of anti-seize because of the steel threads on the aluminum... It helps to keep them from galling - as well as makes it easier on the threads down the road.

Prepping the TKO 5 speed conversion for install. I removed the bearing retainer, retrieved the bearing race from it, and installed the new bearing retainer and hydraulic throw out bearing.

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps50156389.jpg

Other than that, I have just been working on wiring and lots of it.

Restocreations 02-26-2014 05:35 PM

Computer is mounted. I mounted on the plenum panel and used nyloc nuts on the backside to make sure they would not rattle loose.

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...psb808e75f.jpg

Electrical control box fit best on the passenger fender apron. This was the fuses can still be accessed. There is zero room left inside the car.

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...psb7fc7783.jpg

The GM control pack harness comes with relays to power the fuel pump and electrical fan. It turns the fan on at 190F

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps680c9d17.jpg

Another extra benefit of the GM control pack is that the electrical box has extra power ports. Mounting it near the electric brake booster came in handy...now i can just run the wire from the booster straight up to the spare terminal on the electrical box.

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps7bc7c285.jpg

I searched the internet for quite some time looking for a pedal mount for the GM pedal that would work on a C2 Corvette. The mount that comes with the kit doesn't line up well with the firewall and if you use it, you must weld long spacers to the back of it and it still wont line up well due to the e-brake assembly.
I found this Pedal Mount bracket from a company called Samburg Performance. It is made for a mazda or rx7 conversion, but worked well for the Corvette once modified.
Here is the link
http://www.rx7v8.com/product/fd-driv...e-pedal-mount/

I simply cut the mount in half where i felt was the best location, overlapped and lowered the mount, then welded it back together. I could have cut out the unused portion, but overlapping the two pieces will make for a much stronger bracket. I find it easier to just buy a bracket and modify it rather than spending hours making my own. It took me about 20 minutes to cut and reweld the bracket.

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...psa2c104ac.jpg

Welded back together.

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...psead2e38f.jpg

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps8d31da3a.jpg

I'm most likely going to use an electric e brake, but i mounted an older unit i had sitting around so y'all can see just how close the e brake will be to the pedal. It's tough to run the stock e brake handle with a drive by wire pedal.

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps6f5dbb5d.jpg

And the calipers are now on and the car will soon have operational brakes! I had to mount these today to take measurements for the wheels.

The LS3 525hp crate motor arrived today. I ordered the engine from Karl Performance. Summit was initially going to price match, but then they said the Karl Performance website was wrong and they weren't offering Free Shipping. I called Karl Performance and they said shipping was free to a terminal, so I gladly ordered from them instead.

Thanks! It's moving a bit slower than I would like, but that's just the way it goes.
This is my second pro touring/restomod Corvette build, but I have restored ten C2 Vettes.

12" Centerforce dual friction clutch(comes with ARP bolts and alignment tool) Im a big fan of this clutch. I used this clutch last year as well to replace the damaged clutch(do to improper installation by the chassis company) on the last restomod.

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...psda5c4310.jpg

Reconditioned Original 621 Bellhousing. BTW, DON'T use allen head bolts to install the bellhousing, use hex or 12 point. If you need to change your clutch or remove the bellhousing for any reason in the future once the body is on, you wont be able to get a socket on the two upper allen bolts.

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps8e538df2.jpg

Here you can see the repro and original side by side. I think the bellhousing i received might even be a knock off of the reproduction. The metal is extremely porous and the casting number in the side is very faint. It was so far out of whack that it will be going back to the company I purchased it from.

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps1e2d9ea8.jpg

Again, here you can see just how porous the reproduction is.

Dash is finished and installed. Gauges are only temporarily installed. I still have a little bit of wiring to tidy up. I changed the bezels to black because I did not care for the silver. I also decided not to use the radio surround bezel as I like the way the new radio looks without it.
