....I had to ask

where is the founding car that started the Pro-street movement.....

Somewhere the j2000??(Pontiac) or the old pink SHO maybe that dobberson built? I remember seeing those cars at street machine nationals in south bend indiana back in the day. Miles of tweed....

Just askin..... Dont mean to be a downer...I know that the mule is the poster child but wasn't the yellow car that Kyle built really start the "movement"?

All that's debatable, but Stielow was doing pro-touring Camaro's way before Kyle's yellow car (Twister) was out. I remember Kyles "Twister", and Stielow's "Thrasher" at GG Columbus way back when, maybe '00 or so. Both got a SMOY top 5. Kyle won.

In 1993 Mark won the Car Craft Real Street Eliminator in a White 69 Camaro.
The car is still around. http://www.detroitspeed.com/Projects...maro-pg-1.html
That was about the start of the "movement"
This was before the "Twister" was built.

Tri Tip - it, along with Big Red, we're huge influences; happy to say that the she and the OLC have spent a couple of nights together.

Charlie - best of luck at Barrett Jackson!

redsand 11-29-2013 08:18 AM

I stand corrected. Thanks for the history guys....

Charlie you don't need any luck....This car is going to go for a whole lot of money.....I just hope it goes to a good home :)

1badsc 11-29-2013 07:30 PM

make sure the dang car starts and runs !!!! LOL good luck Charlie was nice to see you in Chicago

Mayhem 11-30-2013 07:27 PM

For me Big Red showed me it was possible for my car to do it all.

The Mule showed me that you do not need a big name high dollar shop to do everything. I do everything myself in my garage since I have no money and love the car more because of it. Thanks Mark!

Make no mistake If I had the money I would contract a build, or better yet bid at the auction.

Seeing Red 12-02-2013 11:09 AM

Hope it brings BIG BUCKS! Love that car. Still have that poster hanging above my tool box.

OUCH…..

GregWeld 12-02-2013 01:34 PM

My Nomad will be at BJ this January as well…. it should bring at least 1/10th what The Mule should rake in.

glassman 12-02-2013 05:25 PM

Got the color magazine\book in the mail from BJ today, nice write up and pics of The Mule in it. I'll try to scan or get pics of it to post tomorrow.

Wissing72 12-30-2013 09:06 PM

It is going to be neat to see some of these cars that are on the forum that we have read about. I hope to even catch up with a couple of you guys. I will have the El Camino going across the block as well.

Ketzer 12-31-2013 06:38 AM

I know that cameras roll the entire time, it's a shame you can't view the complete auction footage. I'm sure there is a reason they show some cars and not others but they always seem to miss cool stuff I want to see. I end up just recording the televised deal and fast forward through 99% of it.

Yes GW, I do know there is a fix... but you refuse to adopt another son, sooooo...

I have to budget out each year my trips, parts for projects, and tools. Which I am NOT complaining about. Gives me a chance to look forward to, get, and thoroughly enjoy each one. I'm very lucky to have any of it. Barrett is on my trip bucket list (along with GNRS, Hot Aug Nights, etc.).

Cancel everything else you ever had planned and get yourself front row seats to watch EL MULE roll the big blocks.... What could possibly trump that!!

You could hang with Charley up in the skybox... and help bid up the car!!

hifi875 12-31-2013 12:23 PM

Yep skybox 1 is the best seats in the house. I was fortunate to be able to sit there all day on Saturday this past year!!

Stuart Adams 01-01-2014 06:16 AM

SW 's old Black 69 going off also FYI. Should be cool to see this unfold.

You know you could have posted the link and saved the rest of us some time searching for it....

I forgot how cool that video was watching the headers start to glow. I think that was the simulated 200 mph run where it inputs wind resistance correction factors. As I recall, if we had traction it would hit 200 mph in 8/10's of a mile.

GregWeld 01-01-2014 08:05 AM

Thus the reason for these little heat letter outers..... Oh yeah!

That was a NOS GM cowl hood we punched those louvers in. Glad we got it right the first time.
