There was alot of people there yesterday. I was amazed, and today looks like it will be even bigger.:D :D

Set the DVR to record all the shows last nite. Not sure why they have to be on all the various channels. Going to be running around Saturday, so probably watch it recorded. Then Sunday is football.

Good luck to all of you that are there selling.

I need to make it out there one of these years.

Funny Mike! I thought the very same thing --- WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP PROGRAMING IS THAT! Different channels - different networks - different times... Way to screw the pooch on that - Thanks FOX...

Also want to note after watching last night - they have some of the same bozos making the same erroneous claims on details etc. One car they ran over the chassis cam showed a giant POS - nasty welds - leaks - puked out third member and they say "wow! A lot of nice new parts there!"..... REALLY! How stupid are these people.

SSLance 01-15-2014 10:20 AM

I didn't watch much last night, but caught that Torino auction live. It stalls out at around $30,000 and the goof on the stage opens the hood back up to point out the rattle can paint on the inner fender as if that's why it isn't getting bid any higher...

The the bid promptly runs up to $100k...

GregWeld 01-15-2014 10:35 AM

I also loved the comment from one of the bozos --- "gee, this is bidding at used car prices".... Well no kidding! That's EXACTLY what the car was -- a used BUICK with a V6 TT... nothing special about that mid 80's car at all... It was nothing more than a used car.

EL MULE however ain't no average used car!!

Sorry - just had to go back to topic! Well not really the topic -- but a shameless plug!!

mdprovee 01-15-2014 10:37 AM

Yeah the bidding "process" is funny. My 9 year old was watching a little last night with me... the bidding stalled at $17,000, and they drove the car off the stage...then he says now lets see what it gets. Went up to $30,000 just like that.

Thanks, I did alright on it. I am happy with the overall experience. I have had the car for lots of years and was ready to move on. Some of the "bottom feeders" were a little much at times. They kept telling me the car was worth half what it went for (go build one then)
The guys that got the 70 were talking to me earlier and were all into it. I saw them get the 70 and a 33 ford as well. I talked to sooo many people and had a guy meet me in the staging area as Rick D. from Fox was interviewing me swear that he was buying the car and had his "mechanic" go over the car. In the end the guy who won looked at it for 10 min. asked a couple questions then went and sat down. Now onto finishing the Chevelle.

Funny too, FOX took video of the car for the intro to the show. I got to the show at about 9:00 this morning and the guys from Fox were filming it and asking if they could close the hood, open doors etc. When the car was in the lanes this evening Rick D. from Fox had paper work about the car in hand and interviewed me about the car, then came back 15 min later apologizing that it wasn't going to be on TV.... oh well. My father in law was in passenger seat while going on stage and had a blast.

MarkM66 01-16-2014 04:25 AM

It's a shame that the coverage still sucks. Tons of the same commercials, social garage, bs interviews, April Rose, etc. Maybe 1 and 10 cars get on tv? I would think people are watching to see the cars... :hitaxeonthehead:

So far, pricing seems about average overall to me...

SSLance 01-16-2014 04:26 AM

Congrats on the sale... Glad it worked out well for you.

The coverage is always so smoozy and cheesy. Just show the cars and the auctioneer and be done with it.

GregWeld 01-16-2014 02:10 PM

Skeep....

So is it really a good deal --- if nobody wants something to bid on it... out of the 1000's of folks there with bidder passes??

My guess is --- it sold for exactly what it was worth....

SSLance 01-16-2014 02:26 PM

I've always heard things referred to as a "function of zeros"

I've enjoyed following along the happenings at BJ this year on twitter, But it hasn't been perfect...

CORRECTION: Error in electronic results. 2012 Camaro sold for $45,000 NOT $450,000. Sorry for the false alarm, folks.

So they were talking about your car just before break, and Rick is one of the commentators, i believe he was interested in buying it as i heard one of the broadcasters say something like "here comes a 72 el camino, uhh rick?...." and thats about all i heard iirc, so yeah, he might of been interested in it ( for the right price lol)

Wissing72 01-19-2014 10:06 AM

I got back on Friday eve. Would like to have stayed for weekend, but too many things going on around here. A little over 2k miles of driving round trip but was worth it in many ways. The car went to a new home, I got to catch up with a friend from H.S. who was selling his Austin Healey on Friday eve. I also had a great time with my Father-in-law and got to watch him enjoy the hell out of himself as well.
I think he is going through a midlife crisis, he bought a 4 seat Polaris Razor....

He found a couple ladies to wish the car farewell as it was in the staging lanes.

Nicely done car, and you built it how long ago? I was surprised that the cars didn't get roped off like they used to. I understand that potential buyers want to look over the car but it got a little crazy on "family day". I heard there was one owner just about to have a meltdown with all of the people and kids walking around his car.
I figured that once I signed the paper work and sent it in, the car was no longer mine. It was sold, just didn't know the price.

The guys from Fox Sports2 dug it too.

I was on stage when your car went through. I also checked it out in prep. Very clean.

Anybody see II Much up close? It looked good on TV, but I'm wondering how the years have treated it...

John,

I studied your car for quite a while. It was extremely clean and very well done. Looked pretty much perfect. I don't know what, if anything, was changed since you built it.

Jason

parsonsj 01-20-2014 10:00 AM

Jason,

Thanks very much for that!

I had heard a report that the car had been damaged when a tent pole fell on it (car show tent, I guess). Guess it wasn't that serious, and I guess the owner didn't drive it that much.

gray776 01-20-2014 12:11 PM

John,

If there was any damage, they fixed it. Car didn't look as though it had been driven very much at all.

I will be calling you... need some fab bosses!

Jason

There's no 65 or 66 Ring Brothers Mustang listed for sale at Scottsdale.
