The blasting process before paint really made a mess of the underside of the car. It was driving me nuts so I pulled it apart to do over. I was also sick of the under car exhaust exit, so I made some tail pipes. These should help keep the bottom of the car cleaner as well. They are 3" and were kind of a lot to package back there.

I had the rear end housing powder coated again, along with a bunch of misc stuff. Also upgraded the diff with a 1350 billet yoke. So with the powder coating, painting, and new bolts, everything is nice and clean again. Soon to be ruined first time out but oh well.

Next up is the front of the car. SPC uppers and lowers, screw in upper ball joints, DSE 550 lb springs, Vari Shocks, ATS spindles, and Baer brakes. The goal was to get more caster from the original setup, this should do it... Also paint and detail. Still waiting for a couple things to show up. I will update once I get it together and aligned.

Good looking Nova, and nice work with the detailing. Looks very clean! Curious whose leafsprings are you running?

Justin@EntropyRad 02-19-2015 06:30 AM

Wicked

Those NewGen wheels look great on there!

The hood is made by IPP

Thanks! the springs are from Hotchkis, 2" drop. I added an additional .75 lowering block.

Finally received all parts ordered from SC&C ( 2.5 months, not recommended at all, should of just used Summit Racing) and got the front end put together and aligned. It consists of SPC uppers and lwrs, ATS spindles, DSE springs, Baer brakes, and VariShocks. The parts are great, vendor not so much.

Few things on making this stuff fit.
- SPC lwrs have a bolt in spring seat, you will have to cut the spring to index in the subframe and lwr control arm.
- The SPC adjustable ride height kit is $80 and the holes do not match the control arm. Lame.
-Flipping the leading arm on the upper control arms for more wheel clearance requires some grinding to the mounts.
-Tru Turn steering arms need to be spaced 3/8" from the spindle, and the lwr corner of the caliper needed to be rounded off for clearance. This is only necessary with this type of caliper, 6 pots would be narrower.
-5 inch adjusters are needed to get 5.5 degrees of caster on the leading arms of the upper control arms.

Its also worth mentioning that Baer brakes are without a doubt a top shelf operation. The calipers showed up blank, asked Baer about it and they sent a shipping label immediately. Logos machined and custom coated in about a week. Seriously the best customer service I have dealt with this entire build.

Also received the new hood from Anvil. The fit is a little better, but still has a noticeable hill in it. Ended up installing Aerocatches to flatten it out. I think it turned out OK.

Final upgrades were a Dynotech drive shaft and some LED head lights. The lights work incredibly well. That is it for now.

Nice headlights. Are those the JW ones?

They are made by Keep it Clean Wiring.Bought from Summit Racing. They are inexpensive and probably not too durable, but we will see.

Needing some Likes!

Alright, I guess I am here to pimp my own car. DSE and BFG are running a contest on their Facebook page. Most "Likes" gets a set of BFG's and a weeks worth of publicity on the DSE FB page. So if you happen to be cruising FB, give the black Nova on mini lites a "Like" . There is a C10 project coming down the line and it needs some skins.

Thanks
Alex

The spoiler was a prototype from Spectre. I don't think they ever produced them.

Thanks for the support on the FB deal! it was good for some exposure. The white Oldsmobile has lots of friends.

It was nice to see a Nova win over a Camaro. They are both cool cars but the Camaro gets all the attention.
