Happy birthday and the Renegade is one of the best ...showing
you drive it.. that means the most I think...

Not sure how your wife knew what engine to buy
but great she knows

My wife:
I painted my car a number of years back and was going to
our yearly Pantera convention.. I told my wife I was
not going to Track the car at our annual race since it
had new paint.. she turned around and asked me why
do you put that motor in the car??? She changed my
mind and I put the first new rock chips on the car

That's cool for the award to top the weekend man! I got that at the MMCC a couple years ago and it's just cool as crap (which is pretty cool! LoL!) to be able to do good with low buck home built stuff and to be noticed for it.

Congrats on both man!!

Exactly, that why that award is so cool. Thanks!

I have always said they're are 2 different kind of wives/girlfriends we car guys have.

One that deals with our obsession and one that excepts our obsession.

I will say I know I'm fortunate and wouldn't have it any other way - but you have one that only most can dream of. To have one as involved as much as yours is way cool.

Hehe, two years ago, she was the one that "dealt" with it. 180 flip and I couldn't be happier about it. Thank you!

Hey Aaron, when you finish the swap you could put your current engine back in the crate and send it to me, it would love to be back in a 65' Chevelle!!:unibrow:

Oh Todd, there are lots of options, that's probably not one of them though! Sorry man! It really would be a nice LS starter motor in the Vette and my oldest will have a 70 El Camino project coming in the next couple of years to.

Took me a while, but I'm getting back to reality now. My feet almost touch the ground, just a few more feet to go...:thankyou:

Hey Bob, well she put all her engine spec-ing trust in my great friend, and brother-from-another-mother, Tom Farrington (tommycomfort). Tom is a Mast dealer now. So with his personal experience and the expert collaborations with Billy Utley (72novadriver), this is the motor they came up for me. My wife trusted both of their inputs and pulled the trigger on this back in May. Pretty cool.
Sounds like you have a keeper too! Congratulations.

Time for a name change:D

Best wife

Sounds like we all have great wives

Mine has been married to me for 37 years today

Was going to get rid of my Pantera a few months
back because I could not get in it due to a bad back..
she talked me out of it.. all is better now and driving
the car.. they some times know things we are too hard
headed to figure out... she understands my addiction to
cars and motorcycles

As long as we are talking about great wives, I need to chime in. The highlights... for my 60th birthday in January, she gave me a shifter kart class at Bondurant, AND an XTreme Driving Ferrari experience in Chicago in May. Oh yeah, she also told me last December if I was gonna retire, I needed a new toy, spent 4 days at Barrett-Jackson while I checked out every P/T Camaro & Corvette in the house, and sat right next to me when I dropped big bank (for us) on a '69 Camaro. The icing? She has been very patient as "creeping luxuries" have taken over the new cave addition... complete with a 12 foot vaulted ceiling for a 2 post lift!

My fat a** in a kart..

I hate to boast, but after 28 years, ain't a day goes by that I don't wonder what I did to deserve her!

GregWeld 08-28-2014 06:54 AM

So you bought Vegas69's Camaro at Barrett Jackson?? If that's not it - it sure like just like it.

Ain't those shifter karts a hoot!!! After doing those at Bondurant -- I was upset with myself for not getting my kids into karting.

I think that is actually SW's old Camaro that DSE did for him. BTW - shop looks great!! To clean to work in though! :)

69hugger 08-28-2014 07:34 AM

It used to be S.W.'s. He sold it several years ago to a friend of his, who sent it back to DSE for a Quadra-link & FAST F.I. That guy brought it to B-J. The karts were a blast, but I'm a bit hefty for them. I barely fit into their fat-guy kart. I could hardly breathe wedged in it. The acceleration when you're 2" off the ground is plenty awesome!
I really wanted to do the C-7 Vette experience, but it was full. Plus, my wife reminded me I had already spent quite enough for one week!

Thanks. It is no "Weld's Shed", but I like it. It is too clean to do heavy work in, but I know my limitations. I can handle wrenches, not welders. I would much rather pay someone that knows what they're doing, then hose it up myself, especially on a nice car. Mine has had too many guys that do great work to mess it up now. I had to repair the front suspension after the coil over conversion failed this spring. Took it to a very proficient rod builder & it is better than new now, and only took them about a week to fix it. That job would have taken me all summer (which is only about 3 months long here)!

AH HA -- YEAH!! SW's.... I spoke too soon. I knew I recognized the car. They're very similar except SW's was nicer, faster, and he drove it better. LOL

I've done Bondurant several times now -- wish it helped my driving, but that's another issue.... With the Karts - you accelerate into the corner... I'd haul down the front straight and bang down an gear and punch it... and you're pulling like 2 G's.... they're so much fun!

This is the only school other than Dirt Fish - where the instructors actually WANT you to go faster (if you're good enough). All the other schools that I've taken are more of a take the money and show 'em a good time. The guys at Bondurant dissect your every move and discuss how to carry your speed etc - and will raise your game if they think you are capable (you have to show you can do what they're asking of you). One school won't make you AJ Foyt... but they sure will give you some building blocks to make you better.

I really wish Dirtfish would do an advanced class. That was super duper fun. I must have the best Mother In Law - EVER

Car looks great! Congrats on the purchase, I'm glad it went to a good home!

69hugger 08-29-2014 04:58 AM

Thanks S.W.! I will gladly nurture any more of your ex's! Really sorry I missed that '71. I would trade for that in a minute! I DO like Trans Ams too....

Sorry for the hijack. Now back to braggin' on our wives!

Anybody get to see the big reveal on the show last night? They did a pretty good job of it. Brought back the whole day again.

glassman 10-25-2014 02:48 PM

I did. Must of been awesome for you to not only live it, but then to see it on the "big" screen. Sweet. My wife saw that while she was in the kitchen, comes over and says "awe how nice" (she bought me Vintage Air for mine in Aug)....

Vegas69 10-25-2014 03:51 PM

Not mine but it inspired me to become a junkie for half a decade or so.

Weld, I'll give you nicer, but not faster... haha

Hey Eric! Short answer, nope. Gonna go to Vegas with the car I know, not something I have to relearn while I'm there. Definitely a winter project.

I backed it up...paused it...and waited for the wife to come back into the room so she could see it too. :D :whistling:

Y'all did good.

Hey I hope it works for you Lance! It's the subtle hints...or the constant nagging...that eventually they'll pick up what you're laying down

Thanks, I'm not the most comfortable person in front of the camera though. The crew came over last Wednesday for another interview at my house. Don't get me wrong, they are great guys and easy to talk to, just not my thing.

GeoffP 10-27-2014 04:57 PM

Saw this Friday night - VERY cool Aaron!!!
