Thanks guys....
|
Little update,,, Firewall prep is complete and ready for paint and the car is sanded awaiting last layer of epoxy high build and block sanding.. We're getting to that point where the excitement really grabs you to put the paint to the build... She's looking real straight in real life (sometimes the photos pick up subtle differences in huges that look like a wave,, but trust me there is not)...

Just a quick update,,, the Cherokee Soldier has been block for the last time prior to paint and I head to Buffalo tomorrow to pick up a few parts.. The car looks real straight and I'm hoping to splash colour on it Saturday or Sunday all things equal...
We also sprayed a test section of paint on the cowl and I hope this plays here: http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...psdzzffntd.mp4 http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps19a88ccb.jpg http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps59903452.jpg http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...psbb8b0d9d.jpg |

Well the work continues and the parts just keep showing up.... Our good friends over at BFG made sure this is going to be one sweet ride and Tony got busy real fast installing and balancing the rubber..
http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...psvcqnd9oa.jpg http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...psxdepmxtu.jpg Nose and lower valance is on,, and the body is pretty much ready for paint (got a couple of little finishing touches first) so colour this week I hope gang.... [URL=http://s997.photobucket.com/user/projectwarpath/media/Cherokee%20Soldier/IMG_19041_zpsxdepmxtu.jpg.html] The hood has been assembled and we'll trim it tomorrow and the fender vents are in as well.. http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...psj6sbvz7z.jpg http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...psnhibb9hl.jpg Next stop the paint booth..... |
Looking Good!
|
The fender vents fit really well. can't wait to see the car in paint.
|
Well life has thrown a few curves at us and we've have to move out of sink a little but the colour is finally getting layed down on the accessories and body hopefully tonight... It's cold enough to freeze the nuts off a brass monkey up here but we're forging ahead...
Here are a shot of the initial dusting of colour http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...psn2wi1nie.jpg http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...psd9vqqps2.jpg followed by a few more coats less clear http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...pselrtyas7.jpg and finally with a little clear to seal things up so we can tape off and paint the stripes http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...pszxz3ydqo.jpg http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...psg8x5fjoa.jpg http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...psvpqzknkx.jpg http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...psf0daxxmt.jpg Look at how the lights plays on this colour,, we're freaking out up here and loving it.... http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...pspbvsvtvv.jpg |
Looking good!! Have you decided on a interior colour?
|
Nice!
|
Fantastic, Albert! I can't wait to see this outside.
|
Now clear out your PM box, so I can hound you via PM here and Facebook for parts :)

Well it's been a struggle with the paint and laying it down nicely but Mike "Pablo" Tersigni finally did it again.. He waved his magic and with the help of Tony and myself the car has it's base color down with a couple of coats of clear... Next up the stripes will be painted on the car and then the job of assembly will begin... The color is outstanding and shifts with light like nothing I remember without getting into crazy exotic candy and flip paints...

A quick little Sunday update on Cherokee Soldier.... The White base in the stripe is now down and we'll hopefully deal with the Black outline and pin stripe in the coming days...

Nice, Albert! Did you do a normal white or one with pearl in it?

Lookin good Albert.

Car is looking very nice, great job on the paint
|
Paint is looking awesome Albert. You doing anything special with the pin-stripe? Any potential for a carbon fiber look or you going to keep it more subdued? I'll have to send you some updated pics of the flares on our car. We are supposed to pick it up from Dusold this week or next. Totally flush to the fenders. Looks awesome. You should do it for this build as well...or your next one...cause I know you have a next one in mind already. HA!

We're really doing the subtle thing on this one.. we're painting on the stripe package and doing the old school look so the Carbon will only be seen when the hood is open.... The Carbon stripe would have been a cool touch,, just wasn't in this budget.... I'll look forward to seeing the pic's of the WarHorse when you get it back as I'm sure it'll be outstanding.... And as for another, hey you know it's already being lined up for paint LOL.... Call me it's time for a catch up already ;-).... |
Here is a rare shot,,,, I think my son is going to frame this one with the Old Man laying down some tape for the stripes on Cherokee Soldier... A full day of all things automotive, Christian and I spent the day together... We visited our good friend George over at Kreater and then work on the car and before Chris had to run to met with another local builder.. The Melchior's seem to be thankfully very busy with all of our interests and at 12:30 coming home from the shop,,, this back of mine is screaming ""your 55 stupid""" LOL.....

Well gang the paint is getting down to the wire so to speak... 48 Hours of cure time and then it's on to cut/Block sand and polish.. I think for a build that is mindful of budget we'll have a real looker here...
http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...pszyzkopqk.jpg http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...psopousy15.jpg A little handy work by my son Christian Melchior (hand painted by "pinkiesoutpinstripping" http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps3af6aczm.jpg The color again took the time to blow my mind with it's shifts depending on light when we close the shop down late last night.. http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...pspkvryqqe.jpg http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...psw5ko8sqz.jpg |
Looks good Albert!
|
Thanks Buddy... Will I see you down in Texas for the Optima by chance??

Won't make Texas for that one --- going over to Thunderhill this next weekend for the first USCA of the season just to give Bret and Smitty some crap.... Only Texas event is we're driving Gwen's '33 (the one I had in Texas last year) from San Francisco to Austin Texas with a group of guys in APRIL. Once a year for that drive is P L E N T Y. LOL XOXO |
Car looks great Albert!
|

|
Thanks guys
|
A little quick update & edit of the car... We're back from paint and I spent a quick few minutes doing an edit of the intended ride height to showcase where we'll be looking to go with the car... Many thanks to Tony & Nicole, Michael (Pablo) Tersigini, and my son Christian whom all helped and worked on the prep and paint for this car....

Very nice, Albert! Makes me realize I must bring the rear of mine down sooner rather than later.
|
Just a quick update as it's been a while... We're waiting on parts but things are starting to take some shape so I thought it'd be nice to share some pic's...

Love the paint work / color on the car!

Do you happen to know the size and backspacing of these wheels and the tire sizes? I'm guessing the fronts in that pic were photoshopped from this copy? https://i.imgur.com/XmKRBgN.jpg |
Any chance sharing the paint manufacturer and formula it’s beautiful!
Thanks, Stan |
That's a factory color called Lucerne Blue. I'm not sure what brand/supplier he used.
|
Post 37 suggests a custom mix. It looks a lot like Lucy blue. But looks to have a lot more flop.
