We're headed down from the Seattle area Friday morning and should be rolling in right around dinner time. Anybody know if we have access to the track on Friday night?

Greg, did Jimi find you a spot on the grounds or will you be out front? It'd be nice to use the roof top again to get a birds eye view for Sunday.

Looks to be a good size turn out so far. Quite a few non GM and a handful of 2nd gen camaros which is cool. Hanging at the track, seeing friends and picking up more cool parts...what more could you want?

After an eventful couple of weeks working with Ron Sutton and with the help of the guys at Raymond's Performance it looks like we're set for this weekend! We've made more changes than I'd care to remember... Hope we've gone the right way. Should be fun regardless!

If you did what he laid out for you... and you didn't vary.... you'll be a happy man!

The Sacramento-area weather people have predicted a "chance" of conditions that should make the Northwest-types feel at home . . . bring your umbrellas.

I am rolling in in the evening on Friday as well and the track told me that the gates will be open late.

Looking forward to seeing it in action!

Be safe going in to turn 1 people. Its an off camber short sweeper and you may enter at a high rate of speed since its at the end of a fairly long straight. If you enter incorrectly say by letting your foot off the throttle suddenly then turning you will lighten up the rear end and possibly spin. Especially a concern with 200 tw tires.

Come up on T1 carefully by hugging the k rail on the right side and then steady turn in aiming for and touching the inside curb mid late apex.

When approaching T1 keep a look out on the opposite side of the k rail where cars typically enter the track. Best time to look for cars entering track is when you are going down the straight and begin viewing the start/finish tower.

I'm sure the flaggers and pre-grid folk will be in full communication but just something to be aware of.

Have fun and keep the shiny side up

I saw a Porsche go off track at the exit of T1 a few years back. I'm sure he gave the corner worker quite the scare when the car hit the tire barrier sideways with enough force to send the car airborne. Turn 8 is another one to be weary of, the high-speed left-hand kink. Not a difficult turn, but running too wide on exit will have you mowing grass until you scrub off speed.

You only run wide there on exit if you missed the apex.... people get lazy... and they'll pay for it when they do.

The other one that will get people is T9 when they freak out and do a big lift before going over the blind crest... LOL

Or T3 -- when they enter too hot and lift on the off camber....

This is going to be GREAT!!

EVERYONE SHOULD READ THE TRACK PRIMER AVAILABLE TO ALL VIA THE TRACK WEBSITE. It's a great track -- and is very safe because there's not much to hit ---- if you DO go off track.

Yep Yep. That was the only turn that made my "Kohoni's" tingle. Least theres not a K rail on the outside of that turn.....Might be damp up there too, that should make it interesting.....

Panteracer 02-25-2015 04:20 PM

Thunderhill

Turn 1
If for some reason you are going to go off do not
pull it back quickly or turn hard... they rolled two
new subaru's on the same weekend a bunch of
years back trying do that exact thing

Like our Camaro buddy says get the Apex right and
you should be able to ease thru in 4th.. then pin it
down to turn 2 for hard braking and a downshift

rustomatic 02-25-2015 04:50 PM

I live on a road with frequently replaced guardrails . . . the new ones sometimes last a month before getting new dents. I like how shiny the new ones are--they're kind of like Christmas decorations in the turns.

The word you were looking for, Glassman, is cojones.:poke:

That's better than what I heard this morning, Bob. Here's hoping!

Is it wrong if I haul my car with a truck I sold earlier in the week? I've only received a deposit thus far . . .

Bastard!! LOL

The weather is fine!!!! Come on down!!

It's going to be a great weekend and there's room for a couple more cars to join in the fun! Call your buddies and tell them to get up here!!

Track Junky 02-25-2015 09:35 PM

If they allow exhibition I'll run both days. Not swapping my Hoosiers for 200 tw tires. Just not practical for me.

Glassman,
you should try the backside offcamber turn after the straight
It takes a while to figure out.. but for me I love the twisty
turns on that new section.. Not running this time for Optima

I haven't looked at the list in a few days, are you running the Camaro or just coming down for the fun of it all?

Basher.. whatever you do.. don't ask him about his e brake. :underchair:

DBasher 02-26-2015 12:58 PM

Uh oh...maybe I should check his thread first.

Weld's got a back up to the back up race car, well a car that's a back up for a race car, er uh...a girls car that has sticky tires and is street legal...that'd be fun to see! :D

Whatever the case it'll be a good time!

glassman 02-26-2015 09:43 PM

Should be getting in right after lunch on fri.....time to get slideways...

rustomatic 02-26-2015 09:43 PM

If it rains, are we allowed to have beer? Once you get past all the Camaros, there's not a lot to see in Willows, even if it's raining . . .

Does Weld's family truckster have a huge awning that we can all fit under? Is there a restaurant or an arcade in that thing?

Seriously, I'm hoping it won't be raining, but I'll still run if it does, regardless of how pretty my car is (not) . . . the cones should probably farther apart, however . . .

Oh, crap. Must one's raincoat be fireproof?

MattO 02-27-2015 03:09 AM

Sunday looks to be clear, but Saturday looks to be spotted showers.

Greg - How is the weather today, any rain showers?

MattO 02-27-2015 04:03 PM

Looks like a really good chance that we'll be getting a light showering all day. Most rainfall in the very early and late parts of the day. With a crap load of luck, it will be short in both instances and the track can dry out quickly.

I'm bringing a leaf blower, just in case. Gonna do my part to dry off some tarmac :D

GregWeld 02-27-2015 10:43 PM

No rain - missed us by a mile!

See you guys in about 6 hours. Dad and I are driving out from Sac at 5am.

SSLance 02-28-2015 06:54 AM

Great pics Scott, thanks for posting them.

Do you know who has this Class C motorhome pulling the blue F body on the open trailer?

http://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-x...xdwxpng-XL.jpg

I'd love to exchange ideas with them about their setup as I'm trying to do something very similar and keep getting conflicting answers. Would be very helpful to talk with someone that actually has the same setup.

Have fun out there today everyone!! #jealous
