You want the Lotus or the Miata?? LOL |
It's fun driving a well balanced car...isn't it. :D
Glad you enjoyed your weekend Greg. |
This is a TERRIBLE CAMERA POSITION.... but it's all I have.... you really need to watch this at YouTube on FULL SCREEN.... because of the lousy dash cam position. Two laps at Thunderhill - clean traffic - and a cool down lap.
|
That video is exactly what Greg sees out the windshield. It is a camera mounted on the right side of his helmet.

That's a nice cowl and hood scoop you have. :bitchslap:
Too bad Sutton doesn't sell camera mounts. |
Had fun?
Nothing broke? Got outta there safe? GW #FTW I'll see you in August  |
Does anyone else's neck hurt after watching that video? I kept straining to look up over the cowl hood... :D
Greg, get you one of these with a mount that matches your camera and put the camera on your roll bar somewhere... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I put mine on the harness bar part behind the middle of the two seats and it is an AWESOME location. Car looked and sounded great on the track. Track looks like a BLAST to drive... Any video of you mixing it up with the other cars? |
I have no idea if that was Greg sitting in his shop revving the engine for 8 minutes or if he was actually on a track.
Sure sounded good though! Does Sutton offer a Go Pro seminar? Better check that box next time.... |
I'm with Ron. Wish I could have made it.
Hope to be out with you guys in August. |

Hey Greg! Thanks for having me rework the Mustang suspension & brakes. I'm glad it's more fun to drive & you now love driving it. Another thanks for having me come along on your recent track weekends. Frankly that is some of the most fun I have all year. Love it & appreciate you having me there. Lastly, thanks for being the great fella you are that we all love. It sure was a fun weekend. |

If you can fit your long frame in it, you should talk Greg into driving it once. It may look like the same car, but it doesn't drive like the same car for sure. |

Heck, I don't even know what button to push on the GoPro. I always had "people" that did the data/video/radios for me. |
The "crew" that were and are all Charlie's friends -- that I was lucky enough to be introduced to via him -- Pete - Big Mike - Chet... are fun to be around ... and they can drive pretty well too.
Pete sent me a link to his FAR BETTER GoPro video.... in both of these - which you won't be able to tell from the videos -- it's Pete (black Mustang) or Chet (White Mustang) and Me running round and round.... Personally I've never been comfortable being in the lead -- I like to chase and play from behind.... I'm just not the guy that cares if he's in front or what my times are. I love dropping back - then seeing if I can catch up -- or run a different line - or climb their ass and take a look inside or outside. I'd have been a terrible racer. Winner like to be up front. I don't. So this is a view from PETE's video |
Beautiful track... It looks like such a fun place to run...wide open, no K-rails to be seen anywhere...looks very forgiving, and that left hand kink at the top of the hill!!! :D
Not a lot of markers to pick your brake points at though nor did i see any apex cones set out...which I imagine makes it a bit tougher for a newbie to settle in and time one's inputs down just right. |
The braking and turn in and apex cones appear to be there to me.
|
Hit the nail on the head Lance! Very easy track to "survive" if you mess up and spin or go off track. For sure I've seen few wrecks. Mostly because the dirt is soft - and if you're trying to be a hero and save it --- you can get sideways in that soft dirt and pay a price for that! But overall it's perfect for people like us that don't get all that much seat time.
There are apex and exit cone markers.... but not much in the way of braking zones. It's a very fast track... and you grow a set pretty quickly! Now there is the additional "WEST" side which makes this two tracks in one - the longest in North America I believe... and last October we ran the two tracks together to make one 5 mile course. The West side is very technical and very little in the way of passing get's done on that side.... then you zoom out to the faster "East" side and off you go. Very fun to run them that way! The left at the top of the hill is called the Crow's Nest. The track can be run with or without that little rollercoaster! There's a bypass that does away with that -- and if running with the bypass - that's good for 4 seconds off your laps... so my 2:07's would be 2:03's or 04's. USCA ran it with the bypass.... and let me tell you --- Jake Rozelle and Danny Popp and Ken Thwaits.... those guys are FAST! |

I'm going to "repost" this video just for all the HORSEPOWER freaks that think they need megawattage to run "fast".... this is 1.8 liters... 252 HP -- 180ish TQ....
Oh and it weighs the same as a ream of paper. LOL Maybe I like this car so much because I can see over the hood???? IDK.... |
