Thanks Josh, that's a look that I've been lusting after for a long time. The Ride Tech coilovers make it so easy to get the stance right where you want it.

Anytime! Let me know if you ever have any questions.

Thanks guys, it's been fun learning from your builds

Zoomin 02-07-2017 05:18 PM

Well guys, my little remodel project is about done, except for some interior fixes. I know this isn't up to the level of most of the builds here, but watching these threads has provided a ton of inspiration.

The Camaro is nearly ready to head back home after getting a lotta love from Kyle at Laid Back Recreations. This Camaro is like a family member to me, and Kyle treats it like it's his - no better place to take a project and know it's going to get done right.

Hope to run into some of you this season. Hope to make the Lone Star Good Guys to start off, and we'll see what else.

Looking forward to seeing this in person.

Very nice!

Well done. Turned out great.

Zoomin 02-09-2017 06:59 PM

Thanks a bunch guys.

Got it home today, didn't have any tunnel to mess with it but I will this weekend for sure. The engine and the FiYech seems to be getting along great - very responsive when revving it up.

I renewed the insurance today and will get it tagged tomorrow then I'll be hitting the streets.

Great choice of modifications! Very well done,

Zoomin 02-10-2017 08:56 PM

I got the car licensed and insured so I got to put about 50 miles on it today. Some early observations on the changes I made...

FiTech EFI - after some early testing pains, we sent the entire nit back to FiTech and they upgraded the wire gauge and software, fixed an internal wire that was pinched and sent it back. The engine fired right up, although it ran very rich at first but that didn't last long as it learned with each start. After today's run, it performs great on every phase - start up and idle, throttle response, wot, coast down. Very impressed!

Wilwood Brakes - I am using their 14", 6 piston up front, 12", 4 piston out back, with a manual master cylinder. This is the 4th car I've done the manual master on, and I am totally sold on this set up. Brake feel is very smooth and doesn't require any more effort than power brakes. I have no idea why anyone would want to use a power boost or especially a hydro boost set up.

Ride Tech - went with their 4 link set up with double adjustables on all corners, Strong Arms, Tru-Turn, front and rear sways. Since I was mainly concerned with the engine learning process I really didn't get to play around with this too much, but I can tell you I'm going to have to get a better cell phone holder. Barely any roll, sharp and crisp turn in. No creaks or binds going over uneven surfaces. Ride is pretty good with everything adjusted to zero clicks, but needs to be adjusted to handle dips better.

Billet Specialties - just a word about their hood hinges. First time I've shelled out the dough for a set of these and just st wanted to pass on that they are more than eye candy. They are so much smoother than the old hinges. Very little lateral movement, and when you pop the latch to open the hood, the hood glides up all by itself. With a cable operated hood latch release, it would open as though its electrically operated.

Wow that car is beautiful. Makes me want to finish up my firebird. I hope to see it at OKC cars and coffee someday. Do you have any plans to autocross it?

Zoomin 02-11-2017 12:45 PM

I make C&C around 4 times a year. I hate to give up a Saturday morning sleeping in to get there early enough for a spot

I'm going to give autox a try at GG. Never done it before so we'll see

I feel the same about cars and coffee, too dang early. If you are interested in auto crossing locally check out the OK SCCA. We run in the Remington Park parking lot on Sundays and there is a test-n-tune in mid March. I was really into drag racing, but autocross won me over a couple years ago.
