Good looking build! that color is awesome and should look bitchin with those wheels!

Ben@SpeedTech 02-16-2018 10:08 AM

Thanks!

More updates- With the car painted assembly started with our ExtReme subframe and suspension, all that great geometry enhanced with Ron Sutton secret sauce Ridetech coilovers, Sweet Rack & Pinion and StopTech brakes.

Next up was installing the custom LME (Late Model Engines) built 427 LSX block based mill that dynoed at just over 750 hp at 8000 rpms. Check out that machined from billet dual throttle body intake and valve covers! Woohoo!

Thanks for the compliments everyone.

This is where we're at right now, engine bay is wired and now working on the interior...

This BB Forum needs a like button similar the 4Runner Forum as not everyone wants to reply but I am certain they would say Hay, I am here and I am looking.

1500ccturbo3whl 02-22-2018 07:11 AM

I need one of those in my garage

GregWeld 02-22-2018 07:15 AM

Just WOW....... what a sweet build!

214Chevy 02-22-2018 07:48 AM

I have those same, exact valve covers and yes...they are so sweet.

Ben@SpeedTech 03-06-2018 08:50 AM

Thanks fellas, sweet indeed.

Moving right along, the Camaro is now back on it's own legs, and Bob took the opportunity to give it a final back rub. It looks great at this ride height but to optimize the ExtReme suspension geometry the car will drop another slightly over another 1" for a killer slammed look. Karl really digs the Black Chrome and the modern offset look on wheels so he went with these Forgeline beauties to wrap the 335s around. Also check out the LED taillights, man these things are nice!

I happen to like the ones with the back-up lens too. I don't see a lot of guys with that option.

Ron in SoCal 03-06-2018 05:31 PM

Top notch guys!

I am of course partial to the color :)

Ben@SpeedTech 03-22-2018 02:16 PM

Thanks!!

More progress on the engine bay and interior. A good portion of that wiring goes to this custom dash Jeremy did a great job with. Speedhut gauges mount along with lighting controls Vintage Air HVAC controls and some totally trick billet honeycomb vents that match that design element that's throughout the car. Lots of fluid cooling was necessary since this car is meant to maintain high speeds for long distances. That dry sump oiling looks right at home too.

Love it and it is starting to look very sinister.

Ben@SpeedTech 04-10-2018 09:34 AM

Thanks! We think so too. :D

With the engine bay mostly complete exhaust routing was next on the check list. We always use a universal fit stainless kit and custom fab everything so it's tight to the car, looks good and maintains flow velocity better than a crimp and go muffler shop system. Kar'ls Camaro uses 3" tubing with slip fit collectors and exits right below the valance.

The interior panels are done so our focus is now headed in that direction. What's a street/ race car without some decent tunes for when you're waiting in line, right?

Karl's Camaro

What's a race car without tunes?

Makes me think about a guy I used to race against in my Scca
Autocross days.. it would be 103 or 104 out... really hot...and I would go over to him to check what his time was while waiting in the staging lanes...he would slightly crack the window down with his AC going and listening to classical music
and smile... I told him I was sure that was against the rules:)

I would head back to my car with rollup windows, no ac, no insulation
on the firewall or floor and try to hide from the sun inside and then
hope the damn thing started after heat soaking the starter

Bob

syborg tt 04-13-2018 09:55 AM

Bob, thank you for making me laugh and this was a great post.

Ben the car looks incredible.

Awesome story Bob!

Ben@SpeedTech 04-20-2018 08:13 AM

Moving along, Jeremy's got the front fascia all put together with a custom hexagon mesh that matches the rest of the design motif and is contoured in the middle and at the sides. A late model RS emblem helps hide the split between the two grill sides, and check out those trick turn signals!

The engine bay is also near completion and should be ready to fire up here soon. The goal is to have this car on display at the upcoming LS Fest West where you can see it up close.

The car was raised up on the lift today so I shot a few more pics underneath. Some front suspension, engine oil filter lines on our Road Race oil pan, the transmission and our new frame stiffening Torque Arm xmember...

Nice update! I love that you all were able to get the tailpipes up and over the rear axle and suspension. Nice packaging...

GregWeld 04-29-2018 12:05 PM

Very nicely done!

I love that you guys just keep knocking 'em out !!

THAT was one of the MAIN design criteria when we did the torque arm

Yes, it's the same charcoal gray metallic.

The level of builds coming out of Speedtech these days is impressive. Hope to see a few examples at LS FEST in Las Vegas this weekend.

this one will be there may not have all the interior parts, we had Recovery room do it and wouldn't you know it the handy forklift driver at the shipping company thought it would be funny to drive the forks into the wooden crate!!: confused59: not sure but that is now 2 for 2 for forks in crates coming from Tracy

Ben@SpeedTech 05-01-2018 09:31 AM

Thanks for all the compliments fellas!

The engine bay is just about wrapped up, as the engine soon will be at race events too. ;) We made the custom air intake that goes down to the air filter housing which is mounted down where it will pick up air from below the car. We also machined the coil caps with the same rough cut texture that's on the billet intake manifold. The larger tank on the right side is for the dry sump oil reservoir, while the one on the left is power steering.

The hexagon motif that's on the race seat is now throughout the car, including the hood and deck lid and the door panels.
