Thanks. The exhaust will exit through the quarter panels. As soon as we get it on the lift and get our Stealth Tank from Rick's in place we will work on mocking it up - at least from the mufflers back.

OLC Axles - MW with a little something extra!

Axles for the OneLapCamaro project arrived yesterday. Mark Williams went above and beyond helping us with a special request:

Exhaust for the OneLapCamaro project

We had a chance to build the exhaust for the OneLapCamaro project last week. Unlimited Performance in Calgary bent up some three inch out of the ATS Road Race Headers into a X-pipe and then over the Lateral Dynamics 3-link and out. While we're finishing the bodywork we'll clean up the welds and ceramic-coat it.

Looks good! What else needs done before the teardown for body/paint?

Mean 69 10-27-2007 12:17 PM

That looks terrific, Jimmy! Tailpipes are 3" also? I love the way they jut out to the quarters, going to look very cool and different.

Mark

Where to start...
  • Mount shocks and remote reservoirs with plumbing
  • Plumb diff cooler with remote pump
  • Fit axles and brakes, plumb brake lines
  • Mock up Toyo R888's, trim quarter as needed and order wheels
  • Run sensors for traction control
  • Plumb fuel and return lines
  • Run battery cable to starter
  • Finish running lines for A/C
  • Cut tunnel for shifter
  • Final fit for oil cooler, trans cooler, and ps cooler
  • and a couple of bits and pieces here and there before blowing it apart
we're hoping to have the underside done and in paint with the interior and roll cage first week in December.

Thanks for reminding me of the list, it's been like twelve hours since I last stressed about it - lol.

68protouring454 10-27-2007 03:57 PM

traction control uh??? killer

James OLC 10-27-2007 05:08 PM

Yep, we're working on integrating an adjustable electronic traction control system with the LS7. Our biggest stumbing block had been the reluctors for the rear wheels. Bret and the guys at Mark Williams were the only guys I found who were interested in pursuing a solution for us.

olds87 10-27-2007 06:50 PM

The car is coming together nicely.

WOW!

waynieZ 10-28-2007 03:30 PM

Wow looks awsome the way you tucked it up so tight for clearance.

ohcbird 10-28-2007 07:45 PM

Is there still room for the shocks?

Great project man- I love the updates, as they serve as motivation!

BC69 10-28-2007 08:21 PM

Nice! Do you have pictures from the side to see what it looks like on the quarter?

OneLapCamaro - Engine Update

Well we finally made it to the point where we are starting work on the engine for the OneLapCamaro project. We were fortunate to find nice donor to use as a starting point:

http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/ls7%201.bmp

It came out ot an '07 with just 5,000 miles on it. The owner was upgrading to a twin turbo setup.

James OLC 12-05-2007 06:11 AM

A couple of weeks ago out it came:

http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/ls7 out 1.bmp

http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/ls7 out 2.bmp

http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/ls7 out 3.bmp

And now it's over at Katech Engine Development for a complete teardown and rebuild to their Street Attack specifications.

This should be a lot of fun. I'll try to post pictures through the build process.

XcYZ 12-05-2007 06:58 AM

Cool, James. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress at Katech. You should get Jason to stop by here.

James OLC 12-05-2007 07:18 AM

I was talking to Jason about that the other day; I'll mention it again when I talk to him today.

The ATS Sidewinder and road race dry sump pan are on their way there now. It should be on the dyno in 3 or 4 weeks.

awr68 12-05-2007 05:00 PM

Cool James!! Can't wait to see pics and a dyno sheet!!

Tom.A 12-07-2007 12:31 PM

I thought the Katech Street Attack was 23K out right? Was it more cost effective to get the donor engine? I most likely am confused but I thought they took a crate engine and rebuilt to their specs. In any case you have a nice project.

James OLC 12-07-2007 01:17 PM

You can buy the engine outright or have your LS7 done. Basically the list price includes the cost of a crate engine. In my case I got a smoking deal on the take out so it definately worked in my favor.

mazspeed 12-07-2007 03:08 PM

That looks so killer. I hear Katech is awesome with the LS stuff. Can't wait too see more.

OLC Update - Bodywork Progress

Well thankfully we're done all of the fabrication that we need to on the body and are just about to complete one final mockup of all the panels before blowing it apart to go on the rotisserie and on to paint. I thought I share a couple of progress pictures:

Tom.A 12-10-2007 10:16 PM

James, Looks good  Your car is going to very nice. Keep the pictures coming.

James OLC 01-27-2008 10:40 AM

The engine is at Katech now and we are shooting to be on the dyno by the end of the month. HRE Wheels are on their way thanks to Tyler at ATS and Matt at RFR Custom Fabrication is helping us out on some cool bits and pieces.

Thanks everybody for your help.

awr68 01-27-2008 01:06 PM

Tyler - I just can not thank you enough - that is definately above and beyond the call of duty. It would take a load off my mind if you could break them for me so I can be sure that they are perfect before fedex has a chance to beat the tar out of them. LOL

The whole Katech deal has been really cool - I wish that every shop that I dealt with was as professional and thorough as they are. We are getting close to the dyno now - it should be fun to see how the World Challenge cam stacks up. We also have some additional dyno time booked to try some other things out...

Sales@Dutchboys 01-28-2008 06:33 PM

I really like this build! and the this car should be one bad ride when done!
