Time for a little update!
A lot has happened in the last 2 years... little of it has been Nova related, unfortunately. First, I got some things done on the car. Interior sound deadening, trim, wiring... Without further adieu, here are some pics. I used 1/8" of closed cell foam as an isolating layer, then some Mass loaded vinyl to sound deaden the interior. The wiring harness went in after. I stripped a couple of cars for harnesses and Metripack connectors, then invested in all the pins and seals I'd need. I've got my daughter studying to help me design some stuff later. |

And then came an interruption!
Attachment 78176 I got a new job in my home town, which is close to my wife's family too. But the housing market in early 2021 was tight. NOTHING for sale that would work. No matter, I'll build something. Attachment 78177 So I found some dirt, and got to work! To save money and get a leg-up on the build, I began some of the site prep the day we closed. Attachment 78184 Attachment 78187 Attachment 78192 I also started work on my new shop! (Full disclosure, I had the contractor who would build my house start do the concrete work. ) Attachment 78185 Attachment 78186 |
Being a jack of-all trades comes in handy as does a good network of friends & family.....

Bear with me on the pics... think I have it sorted now!
When I sold my last place, I put the Nova in a shipping container, and it's been nestled safely away there, ever since. My life for the last year has been all about building... both the shop, and the house. It's an experience, that's for sure! I don't know if I ever want to go through it again, but I enjoyed it. This weekend, I'll be moving all of my shop stuff out of the shipping containers, and hopefully my life will take on some sembelance of normalcy, and I can start working on the Nova again. Just a random photodump for you, below! |

Some more pics! I'm working on the shelves to store stuff right now, which is the boards you see screwed to the wall in some of the finished interior pics.

that's a great view! congrats on the move. Hope you're back to "normal" soon.

Congrats! Stunning views!

Hey, Figured I'd update you all! I'm still working on this car, even though Life keeps happening!
I got the shop done enough to finally rescue the Nova from the shipping container and get it home: https://njcnovaproject.s3.us-west-2....rative/270.jpg https://njcnovaproject.s3.us-west-2....rative/271.jpg https://njcnovaproject.s3.us-west-2....rative/272.jpg But then, racecar happened. This is a '94 Mazda MX6. It was built to be a backup racecar for the team that is racing a 94 Ford Probe racecar I built and raced in 2015. (I think you can see some pics earlier in this thread.) They blew up the engine, and wanted a new one built. Shops were all really busy, so I said i'd do it. I of course, enlisted my daughter to help! https://njcnovaproject.s3.us-west-2....rative/273.jpg https://njcnovaproject.s3.us-west-2....rative/274.jpg https://njcnovaproject.s3.us-west-2....rative/275.jpg So with that done, back to the nova! Nope. The Probe I originally sold to this team, decided it was jealous of the new engine in the other car, and it failed too. So, I built another engine! https://njcnovaproject.s3.us-west-2....rative/276.jpg https://njcnovaproject.s3.us-west-2....rative/277.jpg https://njcnovaproject.s3.us-west-2....rative/278.jpg I got to join the team for a 24 hour race in Colorado, which was a blast! https://njcnovaproject.s3.us-west-2....rative/279.jpg Ok, NOW I can go back to the nova. I finished up some wiring on the car, did the brake and fuel lines, and built the engine: https://njcnovaproject.s3.us-west-2....rative/280.jpg https://njcnovaproject.s3.us-west-2....rative/281.jpg Then, I built a TDC indicator: https://njcnovaproject.s3.us-west-2....rative/282.jpg Currently, I'm wiring the engine. https://njcnovaproject.s3.us-west-2....rative/283.jpg |

Well, there was some wiring and stuff through the summer, and I got it on the road in August! I've been enjoying it a bit while I have another project car in progress.
I took my dad for a ride in it, and my son and I took it to the local drive in on a nice day and ran into some other hotrods that were out and about. |
That turned out very cool.
|
Congrats on getting it on the road for miles of smiles.
|
Fantastic! Glad you've been able to enjoy it with the family.
|
Great story and fantastic work!
Congrats! |
Badass!
