So sad.
I never got a chance to meet Greg, but from what I read and seen online, he was a great person.

Honestly the last 24 hours for me have been tough.
A friend I never met in person or spoke to by phone passed away. My emotions yesterday made no sense. I mourned and cried for a person I've only known virtually. He helped me many times with projects, gave advice through email and IM. I was so sad to hear of his passing.

Greg Weld you were a good friend, your humor, advice, direction to me personally will never be forgotten. Your legacy as a Giver, Great guy, inspiration and caring for others, and your love for people and a hobby we all had in common will never be forgotten.

Your kindness and generosity will forever be infused into my soul.

Thank you brother for caring!

Every once in a great while, the world is fortunate enough to have someone like Greg Weld in it.

Rest in Peace sir.

Had the pleasure of meeting Greg at the Goodguys show in Loveland with my daughter a few years back and then on two GG tours. What a great guy. He made me feel like we knew each other for years. I thanked him for his advice... I learned much from him. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

CRCRFT78 07-14-2019 03:58 PM

Thank You Greg. May you be at peace.

I was at the track all weekend and just heard. I couldn't stop the tears. RIP Greg!

akrapovic 07-14-2019 06:26 PM

Sad day for sure. I never met the man but he was definitely an important contributor to the forum. More importantly, seemed like a very good guy.

rustomatic 07-14-2019 07:00 PM

I joined this site to learn more about Greg's Ol' Yeller Mustang. Shortly after, I was doing track days--Greg is to blame for that part of this hobby in my life. I hung out with Greg at many events over a few years, at Laguna Seca, Thunderhill, and Sonoma; many of us here will have permanent memories of Greg at all of these tracks. Somehow, Greg created more access to the higher levels of the hotrod hobby for a lot of people who never would have set foot in certain places otherwise. Greg was kind of an all-access pass.

Through Greg and his presence at various events, many of us on this site have become friends, kind of like relatives who only see each other a couple times a year. Greg literally brought strangers who are car guys together from all over the country and said "hey, have a hot dog." One connection with Lateral G, and you were his neighbor.

Greg was a great ambassador and a flagship for most people in the car hobby. The old Greg will be missed, but the generosity will live on.

I had never met Greg in person but read all his posts here and interacted with him many times. He always said to everyone if you see me at a show stop and introduce yourself. Well I knew he was supposed to be going to Columbus so I couldn't wait to finally meet him. I had been busy traveling to the event and working the PPG booth so I had not been on social media at all. On Saturday morning I saw the truck in the Builder's Choice area. So I went to the back of the truck where a few people were sitting. I asked the young lady sitting there if Greg was around, her response was that he had passed Friday night. What an absolute punch to the gut. I can't describe the mixed emotions. Obvious total sadness for his loss, Her loss and complete embarrassment for asking about him not knowing. I learned that young woman was his beautiful daughter. I walked away stunned and at a loss for words.

Godspeed Greg.....

RIP Greg.

Rick Dorion 07-15-2019 04:47 AM

RIP.

Although I did not meet Greg, he was one of those people who, when I would see he posted anything, I would immediately read his words. I was away due to some personal illness and saw this yesterday. Sure hit me. I wish the best for his family.

ilikeike 07-15-2019 06:44 AM

Damn...
Godspeed.

Blake Foster 07-15-2019 07:44 AM

Very sad.
I have known Greg for 14 years, had many conversations and a few good meals together. We would talk about business and cars and life. He always had a story for every occasion. Always the first to offer advise without bias.

You may be surprised to know that until the the Dirt Missile needed to be fixed Greg had not ever purchased anything from Speedtech and that was not a big deal, it was not about that. It was just about being friends.

I have lost one of MY best friends. We all have lost a great man, friend and supporter.

:cheers::cheers::cheers:
until me meet again my friend

parsonsj 07-15-2019 07:57 AM

RIP Greg. If there's a hot rod heaven, I'm sure you're there now.

I heard the news on Saturday, and instantly felt sad. I never met the man in person but valued how he was always willing to help just about anybody. What an amazing tribute to him to come on here and read all these comments. Prayers to his friends and family. God Speed Greg!

Very sad to hear of this. I dont have much time to be on here reading and posting like I used to but Greg was always a big part of why I was here. I've got close to 40K in an IRA that I can assure you would not even exhist if it was not for the investment thread here. RIP sir F UCK Cancer!!

His daughter Adrienne is an amazing young lady. Her brother Alex is the same. Credit Greg and his wife Gwen for being great parents.

Greg was our number one site supporter, and a huge part of what makes this Lateral-G community and car community in general so great. I own this site and Greg has almost double the posts I have. I should apologize to Gwen for the amount of time he spent here. :peepwall: A couple of our early SEMA parties at Margaritaville only happened because of his private donations. And he was just as generous with his time, always willing to help out the members. He will be greatly missed, but not forgotten.

I was very saddened to learn of the passing of Greg and his battle against cancer. Although I never met Greg in person, I knew him as a fellow car guy and friend just through our connection on Lateral G. I had conversed with Greg via posts and through private messaging and always appreciated his willingness to help people out in the automobile world as well as just willing to offer his wisdom on all things in life. He will be sorely missed, but I have no doubt his spirit will live on and continue to be a part of everyone's lives. Godspeed.

RIP Greg Weld

I got to spend some time with Greg at the track
a few times and also when he finally got to see
the Dirt Missile run at Sonoma.... Many lateral g
people there to visit with Greg that weekend

He was the first one to help me when I went
to Sema and did the Optima shoot out.. gave me
advice and assured me there were friends out there
don't worry about tech and do your thing

Cars bring the people together but guys like Greg
make it all worth while as like he always said hanging
with the people is really the best part

Will miss you buddy.. you have truly touched many
many lives

Bob

RIP. Never met Greg but enjoyed reading his posts and his funny conversations with his friends on the site. Going forward now every time I type lateral-G into my browser the G will be my way of remembering Greg

WSSix 07-15-2019 06:57 PM

Condolences to his family and those of you close to him. I wish I had gotten the chance to meet him and shake his hand for all the help he gave me and everyone else in the investing thread. He was obviously a good person.

Cancer sucks.

RIP Mr Weld and my prayers go out to the Weld family

snappytravis 07-15-2019 08:33 PM

I haven't been on here for a while, I feel like many of you do. I met Greg in 2012 at Sema. Then he became my go to guy on my 69 camaro project. I also lost my father in 2005 to cancer, Greg would make me think things through, wouldn't just give me the answer, make me learn. I finished my car in 2015 and would watch his progress through facebook. I visited with him and checked on him every few months or so. Then I would change the subject to car stuff. He definitely had a passion for hotrods and for helping everyone on this forum. He was a mentor to us all for sure. I loved the fact that if you where a car guy you where his friend, I recently visited with him about my nova station wagon, He gave me great advice and if he didn't know he knew who to call. I will miss you Greg, Prayers to your family and watch down all of us car guys!

One of a kind man! He will be missed.

RIP GW...

For those who missed it, there was a nice segment with Greg and his ‘40 at Kindigit around the halfway mark of the show. Season 5.

The best part?

Everybody ended up laughing.

Aye, I have a question/suggestion. First, is Lat-g sending any condolences to the Weld Family...to his wife Gwen (I think that's her name, if I'm correct)? Secondly, if not...I think we should being that Greg has helped many of us out on a plethora of occasions, rather physically or just sound advice. He's made an impact on this forum. I doubt anyone disagrees with what he brought to the table. Therefore, I know this isn't financially on Lat-g, so we could pass the hat. Nothing big...just a small donation from a few of us to send a reef, small spray, bouquet of flowers, etc. For anyone who wants to take the lead who may know how to get in contact with his wife/family to have it delivered. I'd be the first to fork over my $5 for such a cause. Provide a Paypal, Ca$h App, Zelle, etc. account. For example, if 20 guys gave $5/each...$100 would buy a nice gift. Something to think about. Lastly, I hadn't been back and read thru all of the posts in this thread, so if this has been discussed or already taken care of, I digress. I'm sure Greg would give his $5 for one of us, knowing the Greg I know.

Streetking 07-16-2019 08:46 AM

I had to wait a few days to say something. As everyone here knows, Greg was a one of a kind guy. He was always fun, always willing to give and the most of all, he was there for me 4 years ago when I was going through my divorce. I'm thankful that I got to spend the time I did with Greg I will miss him dearly..

most of you know that I post a Lot of pictures, but this is one of the most favorite pictures that I have ever taken. It's not technically the best picture, but it is the perfect picture for the situation. Adrienne is great - I was in touch with her yesterday. The Show was really good for her. Thanks for everyone for stopping to talk to her.

I’m not good at expressing my feelings so I’ll just put up some pictures. The first was the Seattle boat show a few years ago, random call saying he was in town and wanted to hang out. Done. The second was one of my trips to Sun Valley, ringing plates at 1150yds. Never a dull moment when we were hanging out. I already miss him.

He made a huge impact.
I had a sales rep come into my office yesterday from Sacramento,
even he knew him from this forum. In fact, I'm on this site thanx to
him...

One of his last selfies to me. I think the text read something like, Adrienne and I had to stop at In and Out, just keep waiting with your thumb up your ass.

I'm in for a donation, just tell me when, where & how to do so (in what form, Pay Pal, etc.).

Speaking of Adrienne, she’s 100% her daddies little girl. Often referred to as Gregette she’s a much cuter, slightly shorter, just as passionate carbon copy of her dad. I’m truly blessed to be able to call her a friend.
