Street Rod Garage. Same chassis I have under my Chevelle.

Rick's Tanks came in, complete with Vaporworks. Board member frankv11 made me a sweet custom dash cluster panel with Dakota Digital HDX gauges. He also made me a custom dash pad too. It will be covered in leather of course.

Time to fit the body on the chassis. Hopefully, can get some wheel specs on backspacing and can order wheels soon.

Thanks Scott. Having a few fitment issues, getting the chassis under the car. But hey, what else is new when building a car, huh? :bang::bang:

SSLance 05-23-2020 02:03 PM

That's hot rodding... Even new expensive parts need some loving on them to make them work most of the time. Hopefully nothing too drastic.

Love that pic of the 3 ladies in the car, awesome history with this one.

Nah, nothing too drastic. Just the sway bar links are hitting the factory rear frame rails. Nothing a notch won't fix.

You got tour self one nice project Marcus and thank you for the opportunity to be part of it . We need more pictures 😁

Moving along with body work. Bedliner sprayed too...floor will be changed out before final paint. I know y'all can't see it in these pics, but I have Holohan's Hot Rod Shop recessed marker lights and door lock kits installed too.

Thank you ScotI...

I also got a few parts in yesterday. Nothing too major. But, I'm pleased with the quality of the switch covers. High quality, considering the low price they sell them at. I'll be using Raingear's wiper system. Hoping I can use the custom wiper switch instead of the bulky, old school knob that came with the system. If not...no big deal. It won't get driven in the rain anyway. :D

Where does the rear view mirror mount in a convertible? On the windshield?

There’s a mounting point across the top frame on the inside, just above the windshield. I’m gonna get the new carbon fiber black mirror from Anvil.

JD67SS 06-13-2020 06:44 PM

Nice work!

A year or 2 ago someone posted on LatG that they were making a panoramic style mirror. It was a good looking mirror and I thought I saved the link but I looked for it recently and it was nowhere to be found. My 68 mirror mount is kind of hideous so I might mount one on the glass. Your car is coming along nicely!

Just a little chassis work. Moving on to the rear end and smaller pieces next.

Goosesdad 06-16-2020 07:33 AM

Very cool, big step!

214Chevy 06-24-2020 02:42 PM

Chassis re-assembled and ordered rear gears and wheels yesterday. I can't wait to get the wheels...gonna be a long 6-8 weeks.

3 coats of SPI epoxy. I'm very pleased with it.

Yes it is. Will definitely us it again.

Not a big update, but just being patient as some parts roll in...hydroboost, Nu-Relic power windows and gas cap. Waiting on my leather hides from Relicate Leather to get the dash covered and steering wheel covered too.

Josh at Relicate is top notch! My interior guy says the hides are wonderful!

Yes, Josh is very nice to deal with and great customer service. His hides are a bit more expensive, but are worth the extra. I had heard nothing but good things about him and his hides, so I thought, what the hell...I'll give him a try.

Thank you...your build is killer. I like what you're doing.

214Chevy 08-06-2020 03:15 PM

No big news lately. Been waiting on this hood cowl to get finished and it's taking forever. Once the hood is finished, we can get started on painting the car. Want to do it all at the same time of course. Dash and steering column will get painted a different color first, then the body. Here are some pics of the hood cowl front air inlet piece in the early stages.

Dash pad is already covered in blue Relicate leather. Steering wheel ring is sent off to Gabe's Custom Interiors in Cali to be wrapped in the same color as the dash pad.
