I like without hardware...but, most will prefer with.

Without the hardware... its a smooth wheel, the car itself is pretty slippery and smooth .I think hardware would standout too much

I like the non hardware for a Porsche wheel, these fifteen 52 outlaw wheels are cool too, I think they have some color variations if you haven't seen them it may be worth the time to look

Ryan .... was thinking the same
And yes I have been seriously entertaining the Fifteen52 outlaws as well

I dig those Rotiforms.... and since you ARE calling this a "hot rod" the hardware doesn't seem to be out of bounds. You aren't doing an original restoration here. :)

I think the hardware is a nice touch for THIS project. You can't please everyone. :D

Wheel option in brushed finish is sick. I prefer the hardware look myself. Either way you choose, it will be too tough to handle.

Sheck44 02-07-2021 02:54 PM

Hardware or not

Aaaaahhhhhh ... you guys are killing me LOL ... :headscratch:

Cant go wrong either way but definitely going brushed finish centers

Jeff ... FAVOURITE modern day Porsche colour buddy !!

Steve,

I get it...so many grey days up there. So, you're beyond frustrated and you want to finally see something shining.

But I’m not sure that’s how you go about building a car!

:D

bkswede 02-07-2021 04:32 PM

I like the hardware given what you’re doing with the build... as you say, either will look great, but I think the hardware is a nice detail

No Hardware Vote

No hardware is not only cleaner looking imo but also easier to clean... more of a timeless design too.

x100 on the cleaning aspect.

WSSix 02-08-2021 06:08 PM

brushed centers and lips with no hardware for ease of cleaning is my vote. Any of the three designs would look good.

Just don't buy a Horn Button that they sell - they don't fit MOMO Wheels

Well that sucks as I was looking at a Momo wheel for the 70

Wheels .... Steering

Marty ... wait until Jonathan comes out with the new line of his lesser expensive 'Drivers' series wheels from Sparc Industries

https://sparc.industries/collections.../Driver-Series

I have a Muscle series ordered for the FJ55 and likely going to order a Drivers for the 911 ... wheels are the nicest available hands down

Cheers

Ok I'm a little late to this thread but very few threads have excited me this much in a while.
FINALLY a PT Porsche to keep an eye on.

I'm liking how you're trending with this thing and I really like the hardware-less Rotiforms.

If there is one bad habit I have that I try to hide from the wife, it's secretly searching the web for an old Porsche project, to basically do exactly what you're doing!

Ha ! ... thanks Jim, this is what I love to do, and that is bring cool builds to this site for you guys to enjoy.

FYI ... just confirmed yesterday that one of the guy that does awesome interior for 911's will be doing mine :Theresa:

Build should ramp up soon, engine underway (should be complete soon) stack injection should be here in the next 2 weeks, custom seats ordered from GT Classics, body/frame being strengthened a little bit (needed for coilovers) roll bar bolt-in mounts complete, duck tail fit and finished ...

Hey Steve , my 1.46 cent opinion, I like the other wheels better , not that those ones would be out of place either . Pretty cool you snagged a Singer interior guy , too bad he couldn't hook you up with one of Singers awesome quarter window air intake system thingy lol

Sheck44 02-13-2021 07:36 AM

wheel combo

Yup .... I like a LOT

Yes ... this whole colour combo is going to be just about perfect

214Chevy 02-13-2021 08:50 AM

I like those too Steve. I'm no help cuz either way will be bad ass to me. I think it'll boil down to a matter of preference. The color combo is so killer. I actually thought of the same combo with the dark blue hue on my Camaro

LMAO ... ya Ryan, not a chance, they are a real finicky bunch, not even allowed to take pics in those shops, not even my builder who's friends with the interior guy

Sheck44 02-20-2021 07:53 AM

Awc

Ok ... so its done, new wheels ordered from AWC (Augment Wheel Company)
They are drawing up a full custom set of 3 piece forged 17" Campy wheels in satin gold, stepped lip in a concave finished centre

Can't wait to see the CAD drawings on these this week ...

These are the baseline that we are working from

Builds

Ns RS ... thanks, ya its a bit of challenge managing all the parts
Life's too short not to build as many cars as possible LOL

The 911 being built by Nathan and his team is easy, the FJ I quite a bit more complicated and more involved and will take some time.

But that said, I get to (with Nathan's approval) get to source out and find cool parts like these mirrors from Germany. I am not a big fan of the hockey stick style mirrors, and as the car is more of a Resto-modded 911 with a retro look then these will work sooooo much better

Steve,

Looking at Ollie’s evolving Singer style part$$$ list, it looks like the backdated P-car rabbit hole is going to have to be expanded into a 4 lane highway!

Steve you know we are all more than happy to assist in egging you on with your budget but since you already have “cool and German” in your vocabulary I don’t think you’ll need much help. way to go skip to add to the pile lol

Update

Ok ... so we are getting there (slowly) but we wanted to make sure the car was absolutely perfect prior to the next steps

Car was placed on the Alignment Jig to find that the 44 year old car had a few alignment issues

BUT ... now she's 1000% straight

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b76daaee_c.jpgA3F8C034_95EC_46C3_B8AC_19218CA808891613656469 by Steve Heck, on Flickr

Also, to prepare her for the full RSR coilover setup and to be lowered, Nathan and his team in colab with Efrenporsche have come up with this fully custom RSR style full body brace kit to compliment the torsion bar free suspension. This is an 16 gauge steel 18 piece kit that has been in development for the past 2 years ...
