Called them and they sent me the seal, of course the wrong one(pinion instead of carrier itself)

They often leak around the studs. Does it have copper crush washers on the nuts?

Don

Take the four bottom studs out of housing , put red locktite on them and reinstall. They will not seep anymore.

Thanks for the insight Jay. I'll try that before even filling mine with fluid.

The car and project looks great! Any reason why you didn't use the Holley crossmember mount?

Also on your rear frame picture, how wide of a tire are you going to run? Those didn't look like all the parts that come in the DSE tub kit. Looks like you have a little something cooler happening there :)

Thanks,
Dave

Sled Alley 06-24-2021 07:36 AM

Holley doesn't currently offer a crossmember for the 8 speed auto or I would have used that and made it easy. I kept the crossmember tucked inboard as much as possible to make extra room to run a larger resonator to try and cut down noise as much as possible.
Rear suspension is all DSE we just cleaned things up and blended some here and there, there was a little additional work done to the outer wheel houses and the rear lower quarter was brought outboard slightly so the shape from front to rear of the car has a nicer curvature and doesn't dive inboard so hard in the back. The car will end up with a 325 or 335 rear tire

Finally!!

Thought I'd never see an update on your 67, it's been years since you mentioned this car, nice to see progress and great work of course by Sled Alley!!!

ArisESQ 06-28-2021 01:37 PM

beautiful work so far

waynieZ 06-28-2021 05:25 PM

With the way your figuring the car with 325 on the back how much ground clearance will you have to the transmission pan?

Am concerned about the weight of the trans levering on the single thickness floorpan.
Flex in the trans mount provides no rotational stability to those tabs/bolts.
Am aware of the doubler above the floor but the point load on the single skin is too much.
A nice fabrication but looks weird.
I HOPE I'M WRONG :peepwall:

The exhaust will still be the low point of the car. The motor and trans were both raised up to gain trans pan clearance to the ground

This is the same style I built for mayhem, hellfire and gordons 67 camaro, the tabs pickup on the sheetmetal floor pan, the seat reinforcement and also the doubler plate to tie things in

GearFX website is full of useful information, If your looking for information, check it out,

cars looking great,

We have used at least 6 setups from them and they all made noise. On Stielow's 55 he is going to modify a new Tahoe complete rear and use it. George Poteet is doing the same on his builds now.

Those are huge if I remember right. Really interested in the results with the Moser 8.8.
