Ok so ... bit of an update
The patterned leather came back and I was extremely unhappy with the design so that idea is now done and gone. Back to the drawing board and decided to go with what had been my 1st plan and that was the leather and Alcantara combo, and am I EVER glad I did !!! Harold and the guys at New Image Interiors knocked it out of the park with the selection and details on these ... Let me know what you guys think https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...1e3efe29_k.jpgIMG_6353 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...80ea98f6_k.jpgIMG_6356 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...1d45ab79_k.jpgIMG_6366 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...3543af8b_k.jpgIMG_6363 by Steve Heck, on Flickr |
I think it looks great.

Those are beautiful!! Absolutely beautiful!!
|
I think for the first time ever I'm going to question a decision you've made buddy . Is there a reason you didn't do a contrasting stitch pattern ? . Aside from my question.. absolutely gorgeous sests

We took a LONG look at contrasting stitching buddy, and it would have been too busy. Tone on tone was the only way to go with the red interior. Morning all ...
Ok so, car has been moved to the interior shop, of course New Image Interiors as Harold is the ONLY guy in town that I trust. There are 2 main focal points on this car that I wanted to separate this 67' (1st Gen) from the sea of 1st Gens out there ... One. the engine with the Edelbrock cross ram intake, and 2nd, the interior. I am hoping the details of this interior shine through, starting from the chosen reds of both the leather and Alcantara, all the little special design elements and Ring Brothers parts throughout ... and the centre console. Below are the recent updates to the 3D designed / printed console that we will be test fitting by the end of next week. Landed safely in the shop ... https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...cd07225_4k.jpgIMG_7087 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b9cf3c9e_h.jpgScreenshot 2025-03-11 at 7.16.52 AM by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...48b38c0f_h.jpgScreenshot 2025-03-10 205805 by Steve Heck, on Flickr Custom door panels https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...4126abc_4k.jpgIMG_7082 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...124157c_4k.jpgIMG_7083 by Steve Heck, on Flickr |

I have Dapper headlights and the fog lights too and they are definitely some very nice pieces. I highly recommend to others to spend the extra coin on these. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. |
Dapper makes nice lights.

That does not look like the older ones I've seen, hopefully the quality isn't slipping. I know these are coated black, but the welds are nearly invisible in comparison to yours.
|
Jody ... have to admit I was slightly disappointed with the finish.
Even on close-up, yours have NO visible welds. I literally waited almost 5 months for these, they are WAAAY backed up and as you have suggested looks like quality is taking a back seat to production. I've sent a note to the guys at SpeedTech Steve |
Quote:
The ones in my pic were bought directly from Ultimate Headers as they make them for RS, Speedtech, and Morrison chassis as well as others. |
Ultimate
Jody, nope ... in fact I chatted with Jim at Ultimate a few times wondering where / or when they would be ready. These are definitely Ultimates ...
Btw ... Thanks Jody, after I saw yours my OCD went into overdrive and this is what I was doing all afternoon !! Full comparison of the one side I finished and the side I am going to do tomorrow https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...70846450_h.jpgIMG_7221 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...cbdfc9b6_h.jpgIMG_7219 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...9e0a6875_h.jpgIMG_7222 by Steve Heck, on Flickr Now don't get me wrong, I love doing this sh!t and I get a ton of satisfaction in taking something fugly and making it beautiful ... I just expected a LOT better coming from Ultimate Cheers Steve |
|
Much better!!!!! Something changed at Ultimate, but good to know that they clean up nice. I agree you shouldn't have to do that.
|
I didn't want to say anything since it's not my money, but I was thinking the same thing in those first pics you shared, Steve. I know Ultimate is not inexpensive. I was not seeing the asking price in the delivered product.
Could it have been you ordered raw finish and they do take time to grind and remove the welds on coated versions? Just thinking out loud. They cleaned up great which I am happy to see. Will you leave them polished or have them coated? Good work! |
So ... here's where it gets a bit confusing
On the SpeedTech website cost for the headers is $1699.00 https://speedtechperformance.com/pro...7-1969-f-body/ And when you reference all the headers listed on the Ultimate site, specs/price indicate that you are in the 'satin' finish pricing ... guess not https://ultimateheaders.com/2018/01/...es-version-ii/ Again, a little disappointing but nothing that cant be fixed !! Trey, not sure yet, may leave polished Oh, and stay tuned, we trial the D printed center console today Cheers Steve |

Looks like the mill finish to me, which should have been a lot less money. Oh well, now you've got a project lol. By the way, polished doesn't stay that way once you start driving it. They turn a real cool gold hue immediately, but then get that chalky discolored look. That's why I end up with coated headers on my builds.
|
Project take over
We have many Panteras with SS 180s on them that
don't seem to turn colors or chalk ... maybe they don't drive them much or they polish them all the time I have a set on order with my new engine and will see Bob |
Ok, spent some time at the interior shop yesterday testing out the 3D printed 'mock-up' console. We have a few minor tweaks to make to the final version but we are VERY close ....
Meanwhile the interior is turning out better than I could have ever imagined ... The feedback thus far is exactly what I was hoping for, incredible detail, craftsmanship, colour and that 'less is more'. Just my personal opinion, but today everyone is trying to 'out-do' everyone else, and by doing so typically overcomplicate, too busy, too blingy etc. With this car, I wanted the colour and simple design elements to do the talking and again so far opinions absolutely agree, and I hope you guys do too. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...923271de_h.jpgIMG_7229 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ce527027_h.jpgIMG_7233 by Steve Heck, on Flickr |
