Jody,
I think you might be on to something with "scrappy"... :)

On a different note, Thanks from Texas on the real world connection and updates to the working class of the car world people...
I'm sure it's tough finding the time to keep updates going with work schedule and work requirements...

Blue Steel?

Boris632 10-27-2021 07:12 PM

I wouldn't name it

But maybe something with "Shoe or shoebox" in it
Blue Suede Shoe?

I’m leaning toward a Roadster Shop chassis, LT4 engine, 10 speed or a 6 speed and of course Vintage Air.

What about the new Z06 LT6 Mark? Can the intake rotate 180* to face forward? Does GM plan to release the LT6 as a crate to replace the LT5?

Please say yes and put one in the 55!

Stielow 10-28-2021 02:36 PM

Nope on me using the LT6 in the 55. A cruiser needs torque. The LT4 with a 10 speed will be perfect for this project.

A 8600 RPM DOHC will be good in a track car. Not a cruiser IMO.

With all due respect to today’s politically correct climate, just name it “cracker” with the “c” as in charley my nick name for him…

kwhizz 10-30-2021 04:14 AM

"Crusty"

Dodge383fi 10-30-2021 01:09 PM

Just plain:

“Ol 55”

No ‘d’

65 Drop Top 11-02-2021 09:03 PM

Maybe name it something along the lines of “Stielows Survivor 55” or just “Survivor 55”. Nothing too fancy, but gets the point across.

srode1 11-03-2021 04:42 AM

My vote (not that it would matter, i'm sure the path is set) would be the 1004 HP ZZ632/1000 for power plant and name it Drive55 (can't drive 55 spin off). At $38K it's a pretty steep price in terms of $/HP compared to the LT4, but Mark might be able swing a deal on it :)

Would be a lot cheaper than the motors he's been using...

214Chevy 11-03-2021 05:18 PM

I said it would be $30k...

That engine is a thumper. A big cammed up BBC. I have been around a development vehicle and it sounds very angry.

If you like open piped Harley Davison motor cycles you will love this thing.

It is not my choice for a cruiser. If you want a pissed off pro street engine, go for it.

It is a race engine that will run on 93 octane fuel.

You and I have very different ideas of a "cruiser"...

Here's where he sneaks in a new ZO6 LT6 crate engine that's supposedly in development

Any progress?

F'in mine 05-05-2022 02:13 PM

Thought I'd resurrect this one and aptly suggest a name for the build, "Cinco de Mayo" on this 5th day of the 5th month.

glr0212 06-28-2022 12:53 PM

sad to see no progress updates on this one.

Does that mean you've got that LT4/10-speed just laying around collecting dust? If so, I know the perfect cruiser candidate!

Mark,

Nothing less than the new ZO6 motor in a ‘69 Camaro…right?

:thankyou:

It is time to dust off this thread. I’ve started gathering parts for “Betty White”. My wife Laura loves the name. Still sorting out the plan.

Very cool!

I like the name! - My sister has a patina'd white '72 Suburban that goes by the same name.
