Cool. I'll be lookin' for it at the Tech Center when you guys come through Warren. That's if the Tech Center isn't padlocked by then.

It looks like an Art Morrison to me.

Stielow 12-01-2008 07:17 AM

Sub Frame

It is an Art Morrison. We chose that to clear the stock LS9 accy drive. The DSE sub or stock sub would not allow the stock LS9 drive system due to the crossmember A/C comp problem.

Charley,
Will you use a 9" or a 12 bolt rear?

Please keep the pics coming

clill 12-02-2008 09:57 AM

We use a Currie 9" virtually every time. Good stuff.

ZMAN1969 12-02-2008 10:14 AM

i LIKE it

Charley, Mark - man I like what Y'all are doing - was the trunk pan narrowed on the front corners for exhaust clearance? :wow: what color is it going to be? cause you know ill find you on the tour

clill 12-02-2008 11:02 AM

Yes that was for exhaust. It will be Daytona Yellow.

GrnDragon 12-04-2008 12:26 PM

The ZR1 brakes are already available?
Are they really in the $10k range for rotors/calipers/pads?
That is one sweet build you have going!!!

Daytona yellow? Who picked this color? Mark usually has a great eye for color...My favorite is the first camaro he did...white with blue stripes.

XcYZ 12-04-2008 01:40 PM

This is Charley's car and Mark is overseeing the technical side of the build. I don't know that Mark has said what the color his new LS7 69 Camaro will be.

Jr 12-04-2008 01:48 PM

Scott,
I understand that this is Charley's car. IMO, Friends dont let friends paint cars yellow(I am not a fan of yellow). This car is on the same level, if not higher, as the mule. I can't imagine a badass yellow camaro. I thought I read a story where Charley thought the Audi silver Mark used on the Mule wouldn't work...I could be wrong about that. I'm sure this will be one hell of a car. I can't wait for some video of this car haulin the mail.

I like Yellow if it's bright enough. Kurt (Autokraft) has a 68 Camaro that's Velocity Yellow that I think looks awesome.

Jr 12-04-2008 02:01 PM

Kurt's car?

Are you going to have a sight Glass hood like the ZR-1?

I also thought the Alumin8r looked fantastic, but that had black stripes. Knowing Charley, Jackass won't have any stripes.

I guess a person has to be a fan of yellow, which you are not. For me, it's the color green. Never been a fan.

I'm hoping we have pics of Jackass in paint in the next few weeks.

Keep the pics coming!!!

No the ZR1 brakes are not available yet. Yes I like yellow and too bad to those that don't. No it won't have a sight glass hood.

clill 12-04-2008 09:56 PM

I realize this car isn't going to wow any of the folks that like all the Billet and the dash/interior that look like modern cars. If I want a modern looking interior I can always rent a new Taurus or something. This car is meant to be a nice functioning car. I happen to like standard 69 door panels. Mark and I have kind of the same taste when it comes to bling on Camaros. I have street rods for bling. I had different samples for paint including a current Camaro yellow but I just think 69 Daytona yellow just looks the best on a 69 to me. There are plenty of cars that will out show this car at a car show but what will they look like after you drive them for 10K miles ? I wanna drive this car and not spend the weekend detailing, polishing etc.

SVTforme 12-04-2008 10:03 PM

Great choice on the yellow and lack of bling.. should be an impressive car to say the least.

waynieZ 12-04-2008 10:39 PM

I love the Daytona Yellow . The first Camaro I fell in love with was a Yellow 69 Z28 and I was hooked from there. This is going to be a sweet car. I wish I was putting any LS motor in my car. I can't wait to see more.

Charley, are you going to do an Endura bumper? How about the grill, are you doing silver or black?

I think this car will "wow" pretty much anyone that looks at it. I have to say, I like some bling on a car, but once you drive one that actually drives and performs good, all you want to do is drive, so I totally agree with you. Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of having more than one at a time right now, so I pretty much have to roll everything into one car. I have had a lot of fun with mine, but the next one will be all business. Can't wait to see this car come together and actually see it in person! If you need me to go check the progress from time to time, or make sure no one is slackin, let me know, I'm close:lol:

Well you know I am a big fan of yellow

Took me 3 years to decide on which yellow to use. It came down to Chrome Yellow which is a Ford color and Viper Yellow. I chose Viper Yellow sprayed on a white base. The color really pops.

One of my friends growing up has a 69 SS, Daytona Yellow, beautiful car!

clill 12-05-2008 07:19 AM

Endura and probably a black grill.... At least I know I shipped a Endura with it...

Beautiful color, that looks great on there.

Charley,
Do you know which set of rims you are going to run? Will this car see the race track?

Hi Charlie, The whole idea of Yellow makes me smile. For years I have painted my vehicles Yellow and they always bring smiles to peoples faces. Some hate yellow but that's them.

Even the fastest Ferraris have been known to be Yellow and not Red. the privately raced Ferraris are either Black ,Yellow or White from the info I have seen.

It will be a beautiful car when done and maybe now as some have said, they just might start to have a reason to like it!

I look forward to seeing it in person someday next year !!!!

It will use the stock ZR1 wheel tire combo.

Ls9

We were promised the LS9 before Chistmas. So once we get that we can do the final mock up then go to paint the first part of Jan.

I'll post some pixs when we get the engine.

Mark.

66LS7 12-07-2008 07:46 AM

simplicity works

Carlie I think your going in the right direction with the build keeping the low bling stock kinda feel. I kept the same approach with the Chevelle & it turned out awsome. I hope my 70 Camaro project is recieved as well as the Chevelle. Great project, any extra LS9'S laying around, would look good in my Camaro as well. LOL:rofl: :lateral:
