I hail from sub-tropic central Minnesota. (about smack dab in the middle)
I'm a machinist/fabricator/Jack-of-all designing and building custom one-off machines mainly in the timber/wood products industry.
Currently building a proto-type track support vehicle thats powered by 140HP John Deere turbo deisel, has a 6000# crane, carries 580 gallons of water in the hull and will probably weigh in the area of 17000#'s when finished.
Otherwise married for 14 years,3 kids(11,12 & 14) and plenty of critters.
I dont have a problem keeping busy somehow.

Some of you know me by the name Allen. Others, well, you call me what flies out of your mouth first. Doesn't matter to me, though. I answer anyway. I live about 20-30 minutes south of San Francisco, depending on how fast you drive, although I've made it in about 15. Once. That was fun. I work for a t-shirt screen printing company. We do t-shirts and all sorts of ad specialty merchandise for schools and corporate businesses. On the side, I do some work on cars. One day I'll have a cool car like the guys on this site. Till then, I just sit in the corner crying and sucking my thumb.

pushrod243 12-08-2006 07:58 PM

I am from Sanford FL which is between Orlando and Daytona. I own an aftermaket Harley Shop. We build customs and do performance work. We have an rear wheel dyno and specialize in EFI tuning on Harleys. I also drag race link to my car in my signature. Its an Automatic pro mod car we race at a few automatic series races in the southeast. I am currently exploring a procharger or turbo powerplant for 2007 season. My street car is a 502 ramjet nova with a fast xfi system. I also started a new venture marketing our carbonfiber valve covers.

bret 12-08-2006 08:20 PM

This is Bret...my wife and I own Air Ride Technologies. I've been building cars since mid 70's. I worked as a rep for Autometer and MSD in the drag racing market in the late 80's and then as national display manager for Blower Drive Service from 90-95. Started ART in 96.
We currently have way too many cars, but 4 are my "keepers". 1970 Pro Street Mustang [my first air suspension car] 69 Mustang w/ an aluminum 427w, my 70 GSX, and my newly aquired 69 Boss 429 Mustang.
Marrying my wife, adopting my [now] 4 year old daughter and 7 year old son, loosing 240 lbs, and getting to run Air Ride Technologies makes my life pretty damn good!

I'm Jeff, born in Paul Bunyan's home town in northern Minnesota.
Been in Crystal Lake, IL and married for over 20 years. I formerly was a Pro Roadracer holding FIA, IMSA, SCCA, AMA racing licenses. I spent 26 years in machining, fabrication, stamping, manufacturing plant management mostly making automotive parts and machinery for automotive plants. I built a lot of the foundry equipment for the LS engines. I was testing the 2007 6.2L truck blocks back in late 2003. I'm a machinist, manufacturing engineer, certified ISO9000, TS16949 quality systems auditor. I've been the Chairman of the McHenry County Industrial Council and was on the Board of Directors of the McHenry County Economic Development Corporation. When corporate restructuring eliminated my job in 2004, I took my 20 plus years of building my own cars to work and put a team together to build custom cars, chassis, engines and turbo systems full time. We now have customers in Asia, Europe, Canada, and 20 states including Hawaii. Once in a while companies insist on having me do manufacturing or industrial consulting. We recently launched a new website: www.Gmachinechassis.com and coming soon: LSXengines.com

Got married in 2000 and still no kids, my wife is graduating college next week with her Bachlers deg. Anyways ive been into building and modifiing cars since i got my first cat at 17, and that was a 1968 Oldsmobile Delta custom 2 door, had a 455, and man would that car fly down the freeway. Kurt Urban, 46 years young. Born in Detroit and raised in the Detroit suburbs. Always worked with cars and engines as my living. Started my own engine shop that was bought out in 1999 by Wheel to Wheel powertrain in the suburbs of Detroit. Drag racing is my first love, although the land speed stuff is getting more of my attention lately. I hope to run at Bonneville next year for the first time, a longtime goal. I'm Bill... or so they tell me. I am a national accounts rep for Vista products, a custom blind/shutter manufacturer. I've been into cars since I was a small boy running around Congressional Oldsmobile when we would go to visit my father at work. For a while I was an ASE Master Tech. then moved on to my own business selling tools. Sold off the tool business to buy a house and went to work at a lock & security wholesaler where I worked until taking my current job. I love anything that is mechanical; cars, motorcycles, boats, planes, guns, etc. I have a wonderful wife, Kristy, who indulges my mechanical addiction quite well and with great alacrity.

I forgot to mention, I was born in Maryland, raised in Wheaton, MD, and now live in Ijamsville, MD.

Since its been sitting for the last few years, I've been getting pressure from some of the younger guys at Air Ride to bring the car back out for the Power Tour next year. My problem is if I start "taking a few things apart to fix them"...it turns into a 1000 hour leave-no-stone-unturned refurbish job. No that I have a problem with that, but I want to do it at my own pace. I did look at it the other day [its resting comfortably in my neighbors garage]...WAY too tempting to tear into it!
Thanks for the kudos...I'll get some pix up over Christmas.

Small town in east central Illinois called Paris. Just across the state line from Terre Haute, Indiana. I've worked as a computer systems administrator for Indiana State University for a little over a year now. Before that I was the senior systems administrator for Palm, Inc. in Santa Clara/Milpitas/Sunnyvale, California. In my free time I spend a lot of time in my hobby shop working on my Camaros, 4-wheel drives, sand rail, ATV's, drag cars and demolition derby cars or out in my woods playing with the toys. As you can guess for a 35 year old, I'm single, never married, no kids, and lots of friends.
