The man behind the car.
It's pretty easy to get carried away heaping praise on people for the car they have built or even the wheels they bought, but John deserves it for being a a genuinely decent guy. Nice work John. Can't wait to see what he builds next. http://static.flickr.com/137/324876932_c25b953a68_o.jpg |
Congrats John!! The car looks absolutely killer IMO. Been a long road - but worth the wait. Your fab skills are second to none. Much like everybody else I've been following the build up for sometime - it was almost a shame to cover up some of the work that went into II Much. Look forward to seeing some better pics.
Props again John....Great job!! Brent |
yep

Just wow!
Thanks everyone! It means a lot to hear that you guys like the car. I've been working on it for over 6 years now, and I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that I'm (mostly, lol) done.
Sorry about the delay in photos, but security was tight. The guards took the "no photos except by Press" quite literally. I almost got Mike Norris' camera confiscated when I was taking pictures of my own car! Many of you remember my first tentative technical questions, and then some of my fabrication photos, and my mistakes and corrections. It's been an incredible learning experience, and it has taken way way too much time (and money). Most who saw it, liked it. People asked me if it was a Ford, or a Duster, or why I put such wide wheels on a drag car, or if I knew that one edge of trim was out of alignment (I did, thanks). All in all, the best part of the show was renewing old aquaintances, and starting new ones. It's always cool to talk cars with others who care about them as much as me. But anyway, now that the wraps are off, I can post more photos of the car. JohnU has tons of quality stuff he's taken over the past several years, and I have some stuff too. thanks again!!! jp |
congrats John, very cool car.

Very different, very cool.

The car is one of those colors that is going to be difficult to photo and get it to come through true. Cameras lie, printing presses lie, computor monitors lie, so it will be hard at best. It IS NOT Petty blue, as I happen to have sprayed a volume of correct Petty blue for movie cars a few years back. It is a varient of the Petty blue, but much more pastel, subtle and sinister. And it positivly IS NOT baby blue. This thing looks like anything but a babies blanket. I will be the first to say when I saw spy shots of the car I was like, UGH! What did he do! But in person it is a cool color, and a fantastic indoor show color as it does not absorb a ton of light, which is a good thing.
But then again, a car like this, a color like this, is not intended to please everyone. It would not be cutting edge if it did not piss off a few people along the way. What II Much does very, very well is go to the edge, the very edge, without falling off the side of the cliff like so many other cutting edge cars that have debut recently. |

So, now the million dollar question is... what's next? :) |

G-BODY i would love to hold your hand. :hail:
however you only had to say you did not like the color instead you mention it 2-3 times and go on to say how it could of been better, thanks but try again, usually its percieved better if you compliment someone first then say maybe what YOU would like better, not come out and slam a guy saying its the wrong color,(and never mention its your own opinion). this is a forum so i get my opinion too |

A difffernt color of car, different style of car, different type of guy, who else would spend six years of his life fabricating. LOL. Da, I think that was all part of the plan. Excellent work! :hail:  :wow:  Now go spend time with your family and get rid of those circles under your eyes. R.P. |

Color
It's cool (good even) that some don't like the color.
Just keep in mind that the color you see on your computer isn't the actual color. The iffy lights really play tricks on the camera's light balance. jp |
Damn......... I see you really need to build a chevy around here well I guess its a good thing we are starting one.

No need to defend or apologize for John's color choice. As you can see, his thought process went from the obvious choices of safe "people pleaser" shades of blue to a racy "how dare you!" final choice. One way or another, the color is designed to make people think.
The color, the wheels, the exposed hardware...all of these styling cues say: "Take your polished, shiny, filled-seam smoothster and shove it! I'm going racing." Obviously the color accomplished it's goal. http://www.iimuchfabrication.com/Ren...esis_front.jpg https://lateral-g.net/parsons/renderiimuch.jpg http://homepage.mac.com/streetfytr/....g/DSC_6861.JPG |
Well, I think it is just one bad ass ride.
I am at the point now that shiny paint is cool and all, but show me some tricky stuff....and this one has plenty of tricky stuff.
I really like the blue, but to tell you the truth I would not care if it were pink or primer. The car and the workmanship speak for themselves. Congrats on a great and extended build! So are you goning to drive, show or sell it? Always the tough questions Not sure how much you have driven it but did it turn out the way you wanted (driving wise)? |
Wow! And I mean WOW!! I can't wait to see the whole thing, absolutely amazing!
One thing, did you fabricate the washers for the countersunk bolts, or are they available somewhere? Shiny Side Up! Bill '72 442 "Inamorata" www.FQuick.com/ProTouring442 |
John, I'd love to hear more about the motor. What all did you do to it? What are the specs?

Comparing the two colors, glad you went with the one you did. It screams race, not show. Kind of a sinister look. If I was in a high horsepower car, I would be nervous if you pulled up next to me at a light... |

The block is a sleeved LS2, 4.125 bore. The internals are all Lunati, with a 4" crank. Wegner supplied their CNC-ported LS6 heads (Manley valves, Comp valve springs). We tried some GM, Comp, and Lunati cams on the dyno, and the best combination was the Lunati Voodoo grind. The engine made 620hp at the flywheel at 6300 rpm, with 579 TQ at 5800. It's a torque monster, with plenty of power to 7000 rpm. Intake is GMPP's carb-style manifold (developed by Wegner and licensed to GM), with a Holley 1000 CFM throttle body. Exhaust is my original headers, though updated to 1.75 / 32 in stainless by Stainless Works. It's a long story, but the engine management is a FAST XFI, using an eDIST and their crank decoder. Mike Norris (nee Next Level Performance) did the tuning here in Orlando. jp |

John,
With every comment I have read here I cant believe what a great car you have built. The things you have told me about your "Design Committee" what a great bunch of friends you have also.In not one way did they steer you wrong.Fantastic craftmanship I am speechless......cant wait until June. :hail: Chris Schulz |
Very nice John. I've been waiting a long time to see this completed. Major Congrats! Personally, I love the color! On my computer it reminds me of Petty blue. Last time I checked, those Petty blue cars from the 60-80's were very fast.
Super nice job! Simply Awesome! |
