Looking good :D

PonchoJohn 07-29-2007 03:42 PM

I like the front valance. When I had my 68, I wanted to do the same thing to it. I figured that since I've seen 69 Camaro's w/ driving lights in the turn signal location, why not use the sweet factory housing/location.
Keep it up!

Can't wait to see this project finished....We have a 63,000 mile 2nd owner 68 sitting in garage waiting for the $ and time to do the same thing. Great work!

Lenie 08-12-2007 05:25 PM

Looking really good!

Speedster 08-16-2007 05:14 AM

That's looking really good. Like the front valence work you did. Just one question - why do you have each tire resting on a 2x4 ? Just curious.

JohnnyGMachine 08-16-2007 09:32 AM

That is going to be one clean ride, very nice!!!

I would guess to clear the lift.

great looking project. you do nice work. keep it up !
What is the drivetrain going to be ? (sorry if you already listed it)

DocDave 08-16-2007 01:02 PM

Another 'Great Looking Valance' comment here. Such a small part of the car can make such a great difference.

Where did you get the driving light pods from? Was that part of the valance originally? Looking for some driving lights to FAB into my project.

Good call HRBS, it is to clear the lift. Thanks for the good words, it tooks 3 different valances to do it, a new camaro repo 68 and 69, and the original 68 Firebird 400 valance which was not in great shape. after piecing it together, we leaded it. So far I like pretty much everything we've done. I am considering changing out my rear 17" wheels to either 18's or19's to fill alittle more wheel well space. Thanks again :lateral: ideas.

ProTouring442 08-17-2007 03:17 AM

Definitely one sweet looking project!

Shiny Side Up!
Bill

Lenie 09-04-2007 11:02 AM

Thanks for the good words. More pics to come shortly. The guy doing the body and paint work is Mark Naglich, He's as good as it gets, he's been at it along time. I give him an idea and he does the rest. I really like the fact that he doesn't rush thru things, take any short cuts and he's great with the lead work. If you live in this area and want show quality custom work, he's the man.:hail:

Rybar 09-04-2007 11:18 AM

Love the work on the front end, looks great. Keep us posted.

Tires?

Lenie, you may have allready answered this question, but I couldn't find it. What is your rear-end combo? Wheel size, backspacing, and axle length? I'm building a 67 bird and think the combo on your car is just perfect. Thanks for all the great pics. Thanks.

groovyjay 12-27-2007 11:54 AM

I love it!

Thanks Wayne, The time consumed in getting the car ready for paint has been alittle frustrating but the craftmanship is phenomemal. I'll show afew pics as it sits in a post below. The front bumper is mounted with 2 bolts just for pics but has been shaved and worked for paint and the gaps are perfect to match the gaps on the rest of the car. The other mods are front valance, rear 68 camaro bumper(to accomodate rear shelby gas cap mod.) worked for paint and fitted closer to car, and everything else shaved except for rear quarter pontiac marker lights (still debating that one, what do you guys think I should do w/it?). Other than that the car it ready for final block and wet sand before painting.

car looks awesome, thanks for the updates, bodywork takes time, hang in there, front end treatment is very cool, i forget, what engine and trans are you going with?

18" front 19" rear would fill the wheel wells nicely, but i think you've heard me chime in on that already-Chris

67rstbkt 12-27-2007 10:53 PM

Thanks, your the man!:)

COYBILT 12-28-2007 12:14 AM

I never saw this, I really like what im seeing love the front valance its a different approach and I like to see things like that. I really makes the front end look great. I have to give you guys credit on making a great looking bird.

KPC67 01-17-2008 10:41 PM

Wow this Car is sooo nice! I think that valance is just killer. I am trying to figure out a way to make them lights work in my camaro but I don't think it would look as nice as it does on that firebird. The stance/wheels/ everything is perfect.

Lenie 01-21-2008 06:22 PM

Thanks Kevin, I appreciate it. It's was moving pretty slow but it's going into final prime for wet sanding tonight.

Big Injun Dave 01-22-2008 07:33 PM

Love the look! What powerplant is going under the hood?

Lenie 01-22-2008 07:49 PM

Thanks Dave, It was a tough decision but I'm sticking with the original 400 hooked up to a richmond 5 speed.

Lenie 02-10-2008 05:21 PM

Here's the sketch I've been building to, but the car will be all black.

slyck68 02-25-2008 01:13 PM
