Steve you beat me to it. I will have to get on the ball faster next time. I have been working on new Mustang pedal sets and have missed out on another opportunity.

I have no doubt that it will be a nice product. Best of luck.

DAWG 05-18-2007 05:54 AM

sign me up for one aswell

Steve Chryssos 05-18-2007 10:36 AM

Thanks Shannon, I really need to find time to order two sets of auto pedals. Feel free to call me if you get a chance.

Thanks everyone for your interest. We will have the part done in a week or so. We are turned off by the available slotted or mesh "plate" designs. That plate solution, in particular, appears to block off about 60 percent of the air opening. And mesh seems redundant since we all use air filters. The mesh doesn't seal out the environment either.
Instead, we are coming up with a finished panel that retains the full function of the opening. It will be something completely different and three dimensional--sure to blow everyone's mind. We want to do something that LOOKS as though it works similar to this:

Wow! What are the odds? Sorry if I offended you. The guy survives. I will edit my post if you wish.

mazspeed 05-18-2007 03:56 PM

I might need to be added to the list as well. My buddy who is doing my core supports and a few other things might not be able to do the mesh screen now, he smashed his face and he had to have it rebroken by the doctor to correct it. He's in a bit of pain and not working for the time being. So I have to scale down my request list at this time for just a few things, so If you can make them, I could use it. :hail:

DAWG 05-23-2007 03:28 AM

NP just wanted to point it out.
wasnt funny at the time .
hey hows the cowl panel coming along?

Steve Chryssos 05-23-2007 04:55 AM

It's coming along nicely. Don't expect a flat plate. :unibrow:

DAWG 05-23-2007 05:10 AM

cool let all know when done plz.

Rick Dorion 06-11-2007 07:55 AM

Hey, Steve! Any eta :)

Steve Chryssos 06-11-2007 08:00 AM

7 to 10 days. Here's a video of the first (very rough) prototype from a coupla weeks ago. The wife says not to show off the video because we look like bozos. But so what. :goofy:

Rick Dorion 06-11-2007 09:52 AM

Thanks, Steve. Great dynamics!

MODO Innovations 06-11-2007 05:04 PM

Steve, that looks pretty sharp. I was expecting a flat sheet metal plate with some fancy cut outs or something.

DRJDVM's '69 06-11-2007 11:39 PM

You are absolutely right... I dont want to have to cut my car or tap anything .... my car is done and painted, so no fabrication to get stuff to fit

Thanks. We looked at the part and immediately thought to make something venturi-like.

Yeah...Frank and Jimmy are hardcore racers. Those guys will instinctively cut a car in half if they think it'll gain 'em a tenth. Good for one-off designs. Bad for production parts. It's my job to herd them in the right direction like CNC cattle. It's all part of the process. Watch it again and you'll see how their like: "...we'll just move it up some."

You'll be able to install the final design without even removing the hood.

69Nova 06-12-2007 08:39 AM

Dam Steevo that looks sweet. I'll defintly order one when they are ready. It will be a shame but I guess I'll probly black mine out(powder coat I guess?) to go along with everything else on my car.

DAWG 06-12-2007 03:12 PM

cmon I want mine now lol.
what kinda price are we talking about?
will there be different designs?

Steve Chryssos 06-12-2007 07:48 PM

That's why I make it a rule to NEVER discuss a new product until it is in a box and on the shelf. Broke my own rule. I can't state a price at this point.

Andrew, what brand hood do you have? Does it have a factory style cowl door opening--irregularly shaped?

Ill be ordering one as well. My fab guy is out of commission for a while with his re broken jaw.

Rick Dorion 06-13-2007 04:28 AM

I'm definately in. Thanks, Steve, for the effort!

I too am considering powdercoat.

Good question Steve. I'm not sure what the correct opening is so how about I just take a picture and send it your way so you can let me know if your product should fit.

tyoneal 06-13-2007 10:31 AM

Steve:

I liked the video. Looks like the part will be really nice. I will probably be giving you a call sooner or later to pick one up.

Ty

Steve Chryssos 06-13-2007 05:31 PM

Thanks guys.

Steve Chryssos 06-21-2007 07:56 AM

Trim Plates are done. Just gotta order up hardware and figure out packaging. Price is $55 including stainless steel button head screws. Designed so that you can install it without removing the hood. Works on OE style hoods but we kept the design simple so that it can be easily adapted to aftermarket hoods

Steve1968LS2 06-21-2007 08:21 AM

Should I PM you my address?? lol

Very nice.. looks like a good candidate for New Products

I wonder how it would look with some black mesh behind it.. hmmm

awr68 06-21-2007 08:32 AM

Looks great! Are you going to add mesh as well? Is black hard coating available as a finish?

Thanks Steve!

Steve Chryssos 06-21-2007 08:42 AM

We decided against mesh. Mesh won't keep the rain and snow out, but if you imagine moving all of those pieces of wire together, they will cut down on airflow-probably by 30%. We've all been doing without mesh for 30-plus years. Our goal was to dress up the area without cutting down on airflow. We can black anodize them. Anodizing is pricey on Long Island. Figure on $80-$85 in black. Maybe less. Maybe more.

Steve is that out the door or do you add $80 dollars on top of the 55 dollars?

Steve Chryssos 06-21-2007 10:29 AM

Naw, Total. Part and hard coat for $80. I think. Might be less.

HotRod68Camaro 06-21-2007 10:45 AM

I will definetely take one.

Rick Dorion 06-21-2007 11:31 AM

I'm in. Hmmm - anodizing. I was going to powder coat but I think the anodizing would look a bit cleaner. Can't wait.
