Thanks guys. :)

Tony, I need to button up some odds and ends like brake lines, subframe connector brackets, etc, and then I can get rolling on getting the subframe painted.

Hey Scott, How long did your motor sit prior to firing it up?

Did you spin the oil pump or is that possible with the LS7?
Just curious because mine is coming from the builder in a couple weeks and i want to make sure of the sequence prior to firing it up.

Thanks,

Rich

It was run late last fall, sometime before Christmas. I filled the dry sump tank and ran the starter a few times for a total of somewhere around 60 seconds to at least prime it some - so it showed oil on the top end when I looked inside the cap on the valve cover. When I fired it up, it had oil pressure instantly. I ran it for about 5 seconds, then shut it off, took it off the jackstands, then rolled it outside and fired it up again, and that's where I took the video that I posted. :)

Yeah, it sounded OK.

I'm curious though.......how do I get these goosebumps on my arms to go away?

XcYZ 07-06-2007 05:45 AM

Got the Spintech mufflers on and I think it sounds great. The sound in this video probably isn't the best since it was in the garage, but what the hell, it's a video and it's Friday. :D

J2SpeedandCustom 07-06-2007 05:59 AM

Definitely sounds mean! Have you taken it for a spin yet Scott?

Steve Chryssos 07-06-2007 05:59 AM

Sounds fantastic Scott. We just ordered a ton of oval parts from Spintech to build a system for the blue car. We went with the Pro Mod Shootout mufflers. :faint: Ear plugs anyone?

XcYZ 07-06-2007 06:07 AM

Thanks guys. :)

No, Jeff, not yet. Still waiting for the driveshaft to show up and I'm getting it ready to go to paint. I'm hoping to have it to Autokraft by the end of the month.

Rybar 07-06-2007 08:18 AM

That thing sounds insane! :hail: It sounds like open headers, not through mufflers. Love it Scott, how about you post a video update every Friday for us? :unibrow:

Speedster 07-06-2007 09:18 AM

Scott -
Those mufflers sounds absolutely awesome. What, no 7,000 rpm revs on the jackstands ? Ha... Question: When you rev those up, they don't get that "spitty" sound like Flowmasters do, do they?
-Bruce

P.S. Sorry I haven't been super-active here lately. The business has been expanding at a very rapid rate and I broke my arm really bad about 2 months ago. :beathorse

XcYZ 07-06-2007 09:39 AM

Hey Bruce, I wondered what you've been up to. Sorry to hear about your arm. Hopefully you're well on your way to recovery.

The mufflers have that Flowmaster thump but they don't have that Flowmaster ring or tinny note to them. I'm really happy with them, but I'll have a better opinion once it's under full load at 7k rpm. :unibrow:

tndude 07-06-2007 12:03 PM

Absolutely awesome! That does it….I’ve got to do an LS7 in the Chevelle.

Cool Stuff Scott. Well, all is not lost down here. Look for the black Bud Select boat in this You Tube video. Another toy done down here and this was it's very first race. It just tore up the course. Twin PSI blown big blocks tuned to 1500hp each at 5500-6000. Can be run as high as 7500 with associated boost/hp increase but shortened lifespan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6B8Ky...elated&search=
