Great build Chris. It's fun to see your progress and good to see how you learn as you go. You inspire all of us who know nothing about metal work. Your thread and photos help.
How much longer until it becomes a roller? Keep up the remarkable work. |
It's hard to put a date on it, but I can tell you this....It's REAL close. I need to paint the rear end, finish up the bodywork on the subframe and paint it, then I can assemble everything and put the car on the ground. My goal was to have it on the ground by the end of the month, but it might be delayed a couple of weeks. I'm hurrying but with only two hands, progress is slow.
I'm actually nervous about the car on all four wheels. This is the first time I've ever done this kind of work and I hope I did it right! Thanks for all the kind words. |
Looks like it is really comming together!! just keep forging ahead

Would you please post photos of your G-link after you get it installed? I am trying to decide on a rear suspension and it's a tuff decision. Why did you choose the G-link? What would your second choice be if you did not go with the G-link? Keep up the good work. |
Can't believe I somehow missed this thread! Great work--just got caught up on almost a years worth of history. Man, you had this thing down to skin and bones---you've come a very long way in a short time and done it very well!! Great work bro! Love the choices and looking forward to watching you get it down on the ground. Get pics of the rear suspension as soon as you can!

I'll have plenty of pictures when I get everything epoxy sealed. I took pictures of the brackets welded on the frame rails, but I had not ground some of the welds yet. It's got to look good! |
Okay, I got the rear end epoxy primed and painted along with the subframe. I actually took the extra time to smooth the welds on the frame with All Metal filler. It's not perfect but it looks pretty sweet IMO. To make it perfect I really needed to spray it with filler primer and sand it smooth, but I had to remind myself that it's just a frame.
She goes on the rotisserie next. :woot: http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0305_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0313_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0309_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0312_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0310_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0308_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0307_large.jpg |
