If you search some of the Harley-Davidson boards you'll find several methods and products that they claim work really well for the blueing, both removal and prevention.

Been biting my tongue on this topic. Not that anyone is wrong here - especially you Eric since I quoted you - but my personal experience was that the blue gone products suck. Now it's been a few years and maybe I did it wrong (possible but I seriously doubt it), but it only lightened up the blue a little bit. It did dull the chrome and the blue came back maybe 90% on the next heat cycle. I'm certain my (dyno)tune was correct so that wasn't the issue. A plating shop told me that the heat which causes blueing permanently changes the compostiion of the chrome. Stainless might be a different story?

Just my .03 and I've built a bunch of Harleys...

TRUST ME --- Stainless isn't any different -- the BLUE AWAY dulled the polished surface (was like a mirror - maybe even better!).... and it all discolored within a couple minutes of firing it off... JUST A GIGANTIC WASTE OF TIME.

Hey Jay met you and your wife and kids at Dans on the open house, the car is looking fantastic, paint looks awsome, just went Sat (5th) and picked mine up from TN, cant wait to get it taken apart, and over to Dans so he can work his magic on it. I might post up some picks of it if I can find my camera,
