Well it's been awhile since I posted here. Was dealing with some annoying health issues, but all should be good again, and I can say a day of cruising and throttling this car :_paranoid was exactly the medicine I really needed.

Of course, I really should just ask the mods to delete this thread since I just saw thread updates of the likes of Blu Ballz, War, and Payback this weekend. I am definitely not worthy. :D

Went out and put some of the first miles on my dog ring trans and boy was it more fun than I even anticipated. And whomever says you can't or shouldn't drive these things on the street, they must prefer Turbo 400's with a 4000 stall converter! :willy: This thing howls and clunks but just goes right into gear so precisely, but you gotta shift it like you mean it, which I don't have any qualms about..... well, ask me again in a few months. :D

Finally drove over to the truck scales and was hoping for a little lighter, but with all my cage bars, I came in at 3300 lbs even. 53% front/47% rear.

A couple rear seat delete shots

And finally the obligatory new tire pics

Just a short to-do list before the next track day at Laguna Seca on Dec 31st... can't wait.

Sounds and looks great Dave!! I think its time I start cleaning up my interior. Funny what carpet and a dash pad will do for a car.:D

BTW, who did your carpet?

Bryce 10-24-2011 06:34 AM

good to hear that the helath issues are sorted!

That transmission looks like it works great. motor sounds okay. HAHA

WHat tires are those? they almost look like a new version of the falken 615?

fleet 10-24-2011 07:05 AM

A few impressions watching the vid...it seems the car overall has got a nice tight quality to it. Trans obviously adds to the race feel BMF already has, and it seems well matched to the motor.

You may soon be personally responsible for a jump in sales for those dawg boys. ;)

Ron in SoCal 10-24-2011 07:06 AM

Very cool Dave. Shift that dog box like you mean it! Haha, no more heel toe mix ups...

Interior came out perfect

intocarss 10-24-2011 08:49 AM

Your car's more fun then a strip club

Vegas69 10-24-2011 09:20 AM

Nice! How's the overdrive?

Hey not a bad idea. I didn't realize you didn't have an interior til I saw your track video. Ha.

A guy named Rigo did the carpet. He did Mary P's interior as well. Down in San Martin if you are interested. Does nice work.

Thanks Bryce. Trans finally matches the motor I think. Ha.

Those are just NT-01's. 255 front and 315 rear.

It does seem tighter actually, and lighter and more "free" if that makes sense. Lighter clutch, aluminum driveshaft, and more dead weight removed. We'll see how it feels on the track. The street as we all know is no place for sustained power blasts or any real practice.

If you drive your PT car cross-country (and let's be honest, 98% do not) then probably not a good idea for dog box, but if you drive occasionally or shorter trips, I don't see why it cannot work out fine.

Hell, I never even tried to hell-toe before, that was the issue.

Interior is nice and tidy and goes with the theme I think. Thanks

Sounds awesome Dave--I love the howl/whine it makes--that's like having a Pete Jackson Noisy in your trans--unless that was Rich with 6 pds of tri-tip and two cases of BL in the deleted rear section of the car--both sound similar from what I remember. Very cool.

Haha... the ole Pete Jackson deal... good call actually. Hey good to see you spending some QT on Lat G again.

Yep, Rich was actually sitting in the back seat leaning against the rear firewall -- that's his new spot -- kinda like Hightower from Police Academy.

Lol..."on a second thought, we'll just rip out the front seats".

Glad your health seems to be better Dave, glad to see you posting about your car again. That thing sounds wicked, crapload of fun though. The interior looks good also.

Thank you, Corey. I appreciate the words.

Glad to see you are up and running again.

Since we had lunch in some Basque joint in South San Francisco.... he's been improving steadily!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.......

Get back over there and check on my roadster! Reminds me of Farris Buellers day off.... in the front of the parking lot and flying out the back...

Flash68 10-28-2011 02:16 PM

Thanks guys..

Greg, I'll run down there and say "Didn't Greg call you? I'm supposed to take this out and see what else I can get to break on it before it leaves this shop."

CrossRamRich 11-15-2011 10:08 PM

Nice to shake off some "cobwebs" eh Dave? She runs good.

Flash68 11-16-2011 12:20 AM

Yeah it was great to get out there and throw her around the peanut. :D

I gotta admit, the peanut autoX at Goodguys is a lot more fun than I thought it would be after really loving full road course tracks. Glad I went. I even got my GF to ride along once.... which turned into every time after that since she enjoyed it so much.

Notice the magenta shoes and the legs crossed... such a lady.

I also got a nice surprise in the mail yesterday from DSE and Wilwood.... contingency money to the tune of $515 for my RTTC performance this year. Even though we are all amateurs here it felt really good to actually get paid to run my car -- at least that's how I framed it for the previously mentioned GF. :D

Spiffav8 11-16-2011 02:56 AM

Awesome! :D

"He enjoyed it so much"? Is there something you want to tell us about about your 'GF'? Those pink shoes and small feet really had me fooled.

All jokes aside, cool vid! Thanks for sharing. I look forward to hopefully catching up with you at El Toro in a few months.

Awesome Dave, I hope to get out and try that one of these days.

Surprised you weren't wearing driving gloves with your long sleevs and bball shorts there, Dave...

Nice foot work Dave but when are you going to lose that steering wheel? :P

Is that a Mary P reference? It really would work better for autoX if it was bigger but I love it on the road course.

Ok, well since I got to opine on your wheel choices, what don't you like about my steering wheel? Size? Style?

What would you prefer to see, or recommend? :captain:

How about the Sparco 345 in Black Leather?

Flash68 11-16-2011 08:33 PM

I actually just looked at that one. Looks good. But I prefer suede I think, and I plan getting new seats with the suede inserts so that would go well.

What about this guy?

Given the RPM's and his HE/SHE.... I think this is more appropriate!
