You prove that good engineering is so beautiful that to me it is art. Yes, there is science in what you do but the result if a work of art. Can't wait to see video of it making runs on a track.

Thanks this made my night.

Mark,

I love the oil to oil diff cooler, very innovative. What seals the cooler to the rear end housing? Is there a rubber seal or a welded bulkhead type fitting?

Just really enjoy sitting here reading this while the girls are watching So you think you can dance. What continues to be setting the bar higher and higher....wow. Love it!! Thanx for contributing to our enjoyment and entertainment.....Mike

I'm relatively new here and just saw this. I remember reading about some of your camaro's in HOT ROD before I could even drive many years ago. Wow have they progressed over the years. They were inspriational then and just as much so now. I really love the factory parts style builds. I wish there was something modern from buick to work into my GN.

It might be partially his fault I'm addicted to fast cars. Oh the money I've burned because of Mark Stielow. :D

I wonder if my wife will accept that excuse when I drop the money for new wheels in a few weeks.

I think that would be a lot of fun.

Jay Hilliard 07-11-2014 06:25 PM

I would bet the Dodge would lose every challenge.

The new Z/28 would beat the Challenger in everything but the Dragstrip. I would like to see Mark run Hellfire against the Z/28 like he did with the ZL1 vs. Red Devil. It's really cool that Dodge is building it though. I'm glad to see the horsepower war is alive and well, better than it ever was back in the day.

Mark's new car is cooler than any of them though...

DBasher 07-12-2014 07:43 AM

What Casey said!

I wasn't really bashing Mopar for building what is a pretty cool power plant.... I just wish they would buy into some engineering and give us a car that can actually USE that amazing level of power for something other than roasting tires in a straight line.

This is where - to me - GM is so far ahead of the curve... with the AMAZING Corvette platform - and what they're doing with the Camaro line up.

Ford is trying... and showed us the goods with the Laguna... They just haven't taken the next step which would be some serious power AND handling capability. They have the power part down. A little less plastic -- and a little more weight balancing... Funny -- the exact same things they missed out on back in the day.

Not saying people can't MAKE these cars handle -- but it would be nice to see the factory (ala the Z/28 etc) put some effort in a showroom version.

I would tend to agree, but it would still be a worthwhile track test. There is actually a whole list of cars I would like to see compared.

Vince@Meanstreets 07-12-2014 08:19 AM

if 15 was a 2015 then i'd like to see it happen. But its a 69 thus making it superior in everyway....except for 35 mph impact requirments.

I agree it would be fun to test. Heck, I would pay to watch. As stated before, I would like to see it go against the new z/28, especially since Mark was involved in the engineering/track testing.

Really more of a ZL1 and GT500 competitor than a Z28 one.

Just do it at gingerman again so I can attend

Maybe if we were only talking about drag racing, but that's not the case.

Hey Mark, did you not go with a wider rear wheel than 12 simple for space reasons? Or was the width what you wanted and liked?

Well it's certainly not a Z28 competitor by a long shot.

The BFG Rival 335/30R18 is designed to work on a 18 X 12. A 18 X 13 would have been too wide because the Finspeed Mono Blocks come in a 12 or a 13. No 12.5 inch.

Do you have any pictures of how you modified your core support to fit the larger than stock radiator?

When Stielow showed up at UMR, it was in a 300 hp (ish) Mustang and I was driving a 140 hp Capri. Fast forward 3 decades, and I'm happy to be driving a Mustang with triple my previous hp, but Stielow has also tripled his hp too. I can't keep up. :drowninga:

Nice build. Keep living the dream.

The Dutch Boys are clearing the front clip today. The hood, fenders, header, inner fender wells and lower valance are Carbon Fiber.

The DX-1 style stripe will be exposed Carbon Fiber.
