You guys will really like it when I can carry everything & the kitchen sink into an event. First I must get it running and driving.

I thought you were gonna use it to pick up K-8 students for the Ironworks Metalshaping Academy...

The bus/RV should be fun to watch! :D

ironworks 03-20-2014 08:49 AM

Well it has been a while since we have had an update on this thread so I thought I might give you latest scoop. We are super busy in the shop. Lots of work going on for quite a few repeat customers.

The Fairway Chevrolet wedge sectioned 55 is coming along nicely.http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...18-2014001.jpg
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...13-2014012.jpg

The school bus has been made a roller and is in hold while we focus on keeping up with customer demand. But here is a rendering we are working on with Eric Black.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...K_bus_90_2.jpg

The basic 57 project is coming together.

http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...28-2014003.jpg

Progress on the Super Duper Camaro has been progressing quite well.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...12-2014013.jpg

Enjoy - Thanks for checking out our work

Swain 03-20-2014 09:31 AM

Cars are looking good. Nice wheels on the 57 by the way.

That Bus is sluty

DBasher 03-20-2014 09:34 AM

All the fab work looks awesome as usual, glad to hear you've found a talented crew that works well together.

Couple questions.
On the 55 that's getting wedged, is the top getting sliced as well? Did I miss a rendering?

What's recessed in the firewall on the Super Duper Camaro?

Always nice seeing what's happening inside those walls.

Dan

The top probably will not get touched, we talked about thinging up the roof above the window opening. But we are waiting to push her outside in the sun and see what she says she needs. No rendering on the 55 at this point.

The Super Duper Camaro has Electric power steering.

Thanks again

Matt@BOS 03-20-2014 05:47 PM

It looks like the super Duper Camaro is going to sit LOW!

Rodger, can I ask who you sourced the Manual rack and pinion from? I need to have a custom one built.

GregWeld 03-20-2014 06:39 PM

Sorry buddy -- that shop is way too clean to have any actual work going on...

That bus is sluty.

What is top "thinging"? Do you have to TIG on it to get it unthinged?

intocarss 03-20-2014 06:49 PM

Amazing work as always! What is "wedged" ? Thanks

That's when someone grabs your underwear from behind and pulls it up until your feet are off the floor....

Seriously --- it's taking a slice out of something horizontal to the ground... think about pie slicing a body to create a raked look in a body panel...

DBasher 03-21-2014 10:14 AM

I've just started seeing the electric steering being used, mostly wrecking yard parts. I'd be interested in seeing and hearing how that's set up and works out.

Dan

tubbed69 06-19-2014 06:49 PM

Those are really cool projects Rodger:thumbsup:

Chafin 06-20-2014 12:07 PM

Y'all do some amazing work Rodger, damn nice!!

ironworks 06-20-2014 01:09 PM

Thanks Guys. Like I say, its a team effort from the fabrication, to the design work, to the bookkeeping, to the guy who cleans the bathroom. No job is more important then the others in putting out quality work and keeping customers happy so they come back with other projects.

NOPANTS68 06-20-2014 01:33 PM

Yeah that's them. That company used to be Real Wheels and owned by Eric Vaughn. They are an awesome company to deal with.

Last week was a pretty good week. The issue came out with the Chevelle on the cover of Hot Rod Magazine. I wish I knew where my high school math teacher was that said I would never get any where if I was going to read Hot Rod Magazine in her class all while I had a 3.8 GPA and was just really good in math.

We also were asked to bring the Chevelle down to The Adam Corolla Studio last Monday for the Podcast and walk around outside the studio with the car. I drove the car down there and back. It's always fun to go through LA on the freeway in that car as it gets quite the looks on the freeway. Matt and Adam are funny guys and I was honored to be asked to do something some really famous people in our industry have done before. Maybe it will bring us some new activity, maybe not. If it does not it was fun and my customer on this car thought it was cool. So I guess that is all that really matters.

The link is right here for the video and the podcast.

http://carcastblog.adamcarolla.com/2...-speed-kustom/

The guest in the video spot might have a face for radio, but I thought I did pretty well for my first time trying to act like I know what I'm talking about. Not quite sure if I was successful on that yet. I'm sure Greg will give me his take.

DBasher 08-11-2014 09:23 PM

Dang Rodger you make that big car look small! I heard the podcast and just watched it today. Congratulations on even more success, you guys are earning every bit of it!

Dan

I'm not so sure I'm a natural. I just know how to run my mouth pretty well. Thanks guys for the compliments our work. This is not the nicest car we have ever built due to the 16 year old paint job, but I'm starting to think that is what makes it cool. It's like shiney patina I suppose. I'm still blown away to have a car we built on the cover of Hot Rod. I have read that magazine for probably 30 years. I got in so much trouble in High School reading that magazine in class. Let alone that cover picture is pretty stinkin cool. It was an actual picture not a photoshop.

Thanks again guys, My crew is getting better and better everyday and we are in a place where the work really hunts us out and we have a half dozen guys that are super cool car guys and they want to build really nice, bad ass cars.

tones2SS 08-12-2014 04:52 PM

Congrats on all the media coverage. That car is bad ass!
Good job.
